Zhen Toby Warren
Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.

It probably isn't very often that new transfers arrive but a new face has put in an appearance in the form of one LTJG Mitchell who is standing around, duffle slung over a shoulder and bearing a slightly lost look on her face while she tries to figure out where to go. Tucked under an arm is a manila folder that holds a few loose-leaf pieces pieces of paper.

Now is not the best of times to be just sanding around the hanger bay, as techs scuttle to and fro as part of the seeminly never-ending effort of getting the raptors and vipers refuled, rearmed and or replaired. Each team no doubt knows what it's doing but overall it's doing a damn fine job of looking like utter chaos. One such tech is Toby, who's pulling a heavily laiden trundlecart over towards a line of Raptors, "'scuse me Sir," he offers to the lost looking officer as he finds her in his way. Then noting the lost look he pauses briefly and says, "if you're looking for someone then best place to start is the deck office. Master Chief'll know where they're supposed to be."

Warren pushes onto the deck looking at a clipboard and shaking his head. He's muttering to himself and not overly looking pleased, and just manages to dodge a knuckledragger running by with a spanner. He shakes his head a bit watching the man run off before, well theres someone who looks out of place…ah and everyones favorite crewman as well. He starts heading over towards the pair, dodging another cart being pushed past him.

Zhen has to dance around a bit as some of those techs and mechanics as they go about their way which causes her to almost bump into Toby's cart. "Crap… oh! Yeah? Thanks. This is my first time on a Battlestar. Well, first time save for the little bit I was on one for training but that wasn't for very long. Never did figure out how to get around, you know? So the advice is really appreciate, man." Warren is noticed and she tilts her chin up, a half-nod of greeting although she doesn't call out, not knowing him at all and, therefore, not knowing how a yell from her would be received.

"You picked a fine time to start," Toby mutters back befre lifting one hand up with rub it down his face and start over again. Not having yet noticed Warren's approach he starts from with the basics, "where do you need to be Lieutenant? I can point you in the vague direction at least." Cos as he said previously, now is a bad time to be hanging around aimlessly.

"Shackleton. Heard anything about my DRADIS getting fixed yet? Know it was slotted for repairs the other day, just haven't had a chance to get down here and check up on it and gonna be needing it soon," intones the Captain as he arrives over at the pair. Warren takes a moment to look over Zhen before glancing over to Toby again, "How are the raptors coming along too? And who's this?"

Toby glances round sharply as he hears his name called and straightens as fraction as he spots Warren. "No idea Captain," he starts, possibly sounding ever so slightly peeved, "haven't been near a viper in about three days, you'll want to go check and see if she's signed back onto the line." He tilts his head towards the deck office, even though he's fully aware that Warren knows where that is. "Depends which raptors you're talking about, our's are doing okay though, not too much damage but they're in and out for fuel all the time so it's keeping us busy." As for the final question, he just glances back to the lost looking ECO and shrugs, "haven't got that far yet."

"Just got to get to where the top dog is, you know? Let them know I'm here and fit for duty, yadda yadda." The air of indifference could very easily come across as annoying but there's a big smile to go with it so perhaps Zhen's answer will come across as the joke it's intended. Her head turns towards Warren now and she offers a hand. "Hey. Nice to meet you. Am a new JiG here. Mitchell…" The actual surname seems to be Salazar-Mitchell, her surname hyphenated on the folder. "Oh… uh, sir." She just caught on to Toby calling Warren 'Captain'. Ahem. She then offers her hand to the deckhand after it's either accepted or ignored by the other.

"Hell. Thanks. That'll teach me to let my DRADIS get shot up," Warren half mutters to himself, half commiserates with Toby. Either way he's back to looking over Zhen before shaking her hand, "Captain Warren Smythe, acting squad commander of the lucky strikes while the major's in sickbay. Orders?" He seems to be asking for her's, not asking her to give him orders.

Toby raises an eyebrow slightly at Zhen's answer, then asks faintly incredulusly, "you want to go see the Admiral?" As Warren seems to take over that aspect though he drops quiet again, accepting the hand once it's offered and stating simply, "Shackleton, as he said," a tilt of his head towards Warren, "survival equipment and general dogsbody."

The folder is handed over. Seems Zhen is an ECO and not one of the Viper jocks which probably puts her outside of the realm of being able to be helped by the Captain. "I meant the CAG or something," she explains to Toby, her voice holding a slightly amused quality to it.

"Lieutenant Junior Grade. ECO," Warren intones as he looks over the paperwork handed over to him, "My guess is you'll be with the Gentleman Ghosts. If thats the case Captain Bennett St. Claire will be your squadron commander. Good womman. I see its your first time on a battlestar as a duty position?" He hmmms a moment glancing to Toby, "Shackelton, anychance I can convince you to let the cheif know for me that I need a list of the vipers cleared and ready by this afternoon while I get the freshie here out of your way?"

Toby gives the ECO a brief nod as she mentions he CAG, rather thean the admiral, then turns back to Warren as he's addressed. His expression likely makes it quite clear that he'd rather be allowed to get on with his own work but if it's a choice between passing on a message or babysitting a green Lieutenant then there's really no choice at all. He gives a resigned nod and a, "sure, no problem Captain, I'll let him know."

"Captain Saint Claire. Right. Thank you, sir." She holds out her hand to accept her folder from Warren and then the announcement goes up over the intercom. Seems like a good time to get out of Toby's hair. Zhen offers Warren a quick salute and Toby a quick wave before she runs off to find the stairwell.

There's a nod to Toby, "I'll make sure to buy you a drink when we get the chance for your troubles Shackleton." Warren turns and hands the folder over to Zhen and returns her salute as she starts to head out. "Alright. Well was going to take her to the CAG's office, but she seems eager to get there," he says glancing back to Toby, "Well guess I'll let you get back to work, and I'll go bug the chief myself."

Toby eyes the departing ECO for a moment then turns back to Warren. "I doubt he'll keep you waiting long," he states, with regards tot he Chief, "you never know, you might come across her wondering round in circles on your way back." He closes with a simple nod and "Captain," as he gets the trolly moving again and sets off once more towards his original destination.
