Battalion HQ - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
The headquarters room is the primary command location for all Marines associated with the battlestar or accompanying fleet ships. The walls and desks are covered with maps, photos, and satellite imagery - as well as clocks indicating the current time in each colonial capital city and Site Anvil. Along the back wall are large touchscreens with holographic capability, able to bring up fleet intelligence if the user has proper access. Secure phones are bolted to each bulkhead, and for added insurance, each desk possesses its own encrypted wireless unit with its own independent wiring. The small room is always manned by a wireless operator and a duty sergeant, at a minimum, though it tends to be a hive of activity during duty hours.
MD #144

Randy's found herself more often in the HQ room than not these days, having to fill in for Major Penta while he's off ship. She's currently finishing up some business on one of the phones and hangs it up before moving back to one of the desks nearby. She /almost/ flops down into the chair there, but reigns it in, maintaining some semblance of decorum even if all she wants to do is pull off her boots and kick up her feet.

Toby has stuck his head into marine territory a few times over the past couple of days, when he's not been busy with work, or sleeping. This is the first time though that he's been rewarded with actually catching Randy while she's there too. He's a little apprehensive, this whole thing isn't easy, but he still seems set on going through with it (assuming Niamh doesn't kill him first). Having been directed towards the Lieutenant, and knowing she has been pre-warned, he comes to a stop infront of the desk she's occupying and offers a simple, "Sergeat Ynyr said to talk to you, and that you know why I'm here."

Randy stretches her arms a little bit and when she spots Toby, she stands up. There are no guest chairs at the desk she's at right now. "Aye. He talked to me about it, and I'm open to it." She's probably the only platoon leader that would agree to it outside of Lleu, but who wants to be an MP? Right? Randy doesn't beat around the bush one bit, but she's not laughing in his face either when she says, "Chances are, you're not going to be physically capable of making it through training, and I'd be irresponsible if I didn't have Medical do a more extensive exam, especially a cardio exam before putting you through any of that. I'm no doctor, and I'm open to this whole thing provided we go through the proper steps, but just me to you? I doubt Medical would even /let/ me put you through basic. So let's take it one step at a time and get something setup there to see if they'll clear you. I'll have to do that since I'll have to send over the physical demands they'll be testing you for since it goes beyond the physical you took when you recalled. Sound good?"

Toby looks Randy straight in the face as she stands, there doesn't seem to be an over abundnace of joy in his features as she states that she isn't going to block things personally, but there is definitely focus. Intense focus. "I'm not concerned about a physical," he states simply, or he hadn't been until she put such a stress on it. His strength is fine, his endurance on the other hand.. well, that might be where this falls through. "When?" he then asks before stating, "sooner the better, just let me know and I'll be there."

"I'll book it asap now that the request isn't secondhand." Randy doesn't seem fazed by Toby's lack of warm emotional response. She's pretty much all business when on duty with anyone these days, not that Toby has that visibility. "If you pass, I'll walk you through the next few steps so you have some understanding of the process and we'll talk about other things," she shrugs, trying to keep herself concise even if not wholly concrete. "Anyways, you should get an appointment from Medical as soon as they can book it. I probably won't be present since I'm doing too much stuff these days, but I will if I can so Dr. Stone and I can talk over the results as soon as possible…Is there anything else you want to ask or talk to me at this point?"

Toby nods once to convey both understanding and agreement about not dilly-dallying. "I'll tell the Chief when I can after that then," no point giving Niamh all that stress if he fails, thats what he's telling himself, although theres a voice in the back of his head telling him he's being a dick in not having talked to her first. He seems faintly surprised that Randy herself might be at the medical and replies almost casually, "you don't need to be there, nor Ynyr, I can manage. I spent the best part of the last twenty years pulling people out of collapsed mines, and burning tunnels, the physicals they demand for that aren't exactly a pleasant stroll." As for her final question, he considers for a moment then shakes his head. "Nothing. Lets just get this done and out of the way as quick as we can."

"At that point you can talk to her and we'll get a formal request with all the paperwork through." Randy nods in agreement with Toby's plan. "I'll wait on you though since I'm sure you want to be able to tell her face to face first before it comes across her desk for approval of any sort." When Toby mentions the bit about mines, Randy's eyebrows arch and a small grin escapes, but she doesn't reveal why. "Alright then, sounds like we're all set. You're dismissed," she provides the requisite drill. It sounds like a habit finally. She nods with some finality and steps over to pull her chair out and sit down again. She pulls over a folder from a stack of paperwork on the edge of the desk, opens it, and reaches blindly for her pencil. It's behind her ear, but she finds it soon and gets back to work as if she doesn't have a minute to spare.
