Battlestar Orion — Deck 3 — Sickbay
Serving as the ship's primary care facility, the Medical Center is a rather large, single room structure that has the same load-bearing structures to the walls that the halls do, as well as the same heavy hatch. There is a desk at the entrance staffed by a nurse as well as a small locker for single dose drugs like aspirin. Beds are lined up along each wall with EKG's and hangers for IVs in case of triage. Large cabinets at the rear provide ready access to lifesaving medicines and gear, as well as a ready supply of defibrillators. Not far from the primary entrance is the Chief Medical Officer's office and on the other side is a small hatch to the recovery ward. Towards the rear is a sectioned-off examination area. Opposite the hatch to recovery is a sealed doorway leading down a hallway to the ship's morgue.

Mahasti is sitting at her desk, slumped over it and hung over looking. "I told you I'm just hung over not sick" she complains at a nurse that is trying to talk her into a hospital bed. The little Leonese woman looks like death warmed over for whatever reason. She sort of groans and goes back to writing on a note pad, her left hand holding a cold pack to her forehead.

Looking fresh and alert, and ready for work, Toby swings by the sickbay in his coveralls and immediately finds himself reassuring the nurse on duty that he's fine, and is in fact, just visiting. Spotting Mahasti he gestures in her direction and is then allowed through. Approaching her deck he rummages into one of his pockets and produces and small cloth wrapped object. "Morning Doc."

Mahasti groans at a nurse moving her spinny stool, to protest. She blinks at him, dully blinking "Good morning Shackleton. Can you explain to the nice Scorpian lady that I would be better off in my bunk than stuck here hung over because some marine panicked at me heaving?" she asks, sort of blinking at the clothwrapped item. Both of her hands extend for it, in an overly polite Leonese fashion, palms up.

Toby hands the camera over then pulls his hands back into his pockets, "you'll need to check it but I think that's got it sorted. Let me know if it still gives you issues." Glancing then to the nurse in question he just shrugs in a 'don't look at me' manner, "not my area Doc, you'll have to sort this one out between you."

Mahasti snorts "I drank a full bottle of wine myself. I'm not feeling terribly good." she offers with a laugh, making a face from discomfort. "You okay Shackleton?" she asks softly, standing up with wobbling legs. "Uhg." she mumbles.

If Mahasti is looking for sympathy she's going to go wanting as Toby offers a faintly amused grin. "Celebrating something?" he asks, folding his arms across his chest as he does so, "but yes, I'm fine. Just figured I'd get that back to you and let you know that CPO Rutlii is happy to go ahead with joint drills so long as the CMO will sign off on them too."

Mahasti Shakes her head. "Sam will talk to her when she has time I'm sure." she shifts, looking around before shifting a little closer "Permission to give you a small hug to show gratitude?" she asks, sort of going green in the face again. "Celebrating, kind of. Remembering would be more properly. It is.. my maman's birthday. I felt sad lastnight knowing I wouldn't wake to hear her voice this morning." she admits, cheeks getting pink "So I opened a bottle of wine I had hidden away and no one else would drink with me, so I drank the entire thing by myself." Given her size, weight, and tolerance even a small bottle is far too much for her.

Toby notes that particular shade of green and holds out a hand to ward off the Doc. "I just showered," he explains, "got no time to go change and have another before I'm due on shift." The explanation given gets a more solemn nod, it's an understandable sentiment and one shared by most people these days. "Was it at least a decent bottle?" he asks, "or did you not get to appreciate the most of it?"

Mahasti blinks "I'm not going to puke on you, really." she mumbles, cheeks pink "The bottle was sublime. It was from the country side and was sparkling pear wine. Crisp and fizzy. It was the best I ever drank. I have another bottle but, its for a special occasion that is happy." she mumbles, frowning "Or would a light hug be inappropriate? Can I show gratitude to you in someway?" she asks, half whining.

"Of course not Doc," Toby replies, sounding more placatory than convinced. He's certainly not showing any signs of acquiescing to the hug any time soon. "Can't claim to be a wine drinker," he offers, "but sounds decent enough I suppose. Seriously though Doc, don't worry about it, it didn't take long to sort."

Mahasti takes a moment to take a roll of film from her desk, opening the camera carefully to properly insert the film. Her expression cautious. She plays with the winder, taking a lens from a camera kit to attach properly before testing how the camera feels. She looks around before pointing the lens at Toby intending to snap a perfect shot.

With the threat of a hug diminishing Toby returns his hands to his pockets and waits to ensure that the test of the camera seems satisfactory. Finding a handy bit of bulkhead to lean on as he waits he gives a passing nurse a brief nod then turns to glance round the area in general.

Mahasti 's desk is the shiniest and cleanest area. It looks like the entire sickbay has gotten a total scrub down. Of course, it doesn't hurt that two of the doctors are germophobes. She sort of watches the nurses "Sorry I'm green around the gills. Thank you for fixing the camera for me Toby. I am deeply appreciative is there anything I can find for you to repay your kindness?" she asks chipperly.

Toby turns back to Mahasti as she speaks, giving her another shrug, "as I said Doc, don't worry about it, it's not as if you just couldn't be bothered popping down to the shops to get it done. We've got to make do with what we have these days."

Mahasti ponders the young man, thinking "Well, what could I make you that would make you happy without being gross?" she asks, smiling brightly, her expression cheerful as she offers a smile. She sways lightly, her expression giving away she might start pouting at any time due to him being difficult about it.

"You don't need to do anything Doc," Toby replies, shaking his head once more, "seriously." Noting the potential pout though he frowns ever so faintly then offers, "but if you insist then lets you say you owe me one. That work for you?"

Mahasti smiles "That's better." she offers, reaching to gently pet along his knuckles gently, smiling "Thank you Toby, you are some kind of sweet heart, but sometimes I think you don't like me." she murmurs, cheeks a bit pink as she leans back against the desk, reaching for her water bottle to sip upon.

"Doc," Toby starts, raising an eyebrow as he does so, "I didn't like that marine, I don't like Raynor, and I really don't like the Toasters. What makes you think I don't like you?" So far as he's aware, he's never given her reason to think that way at least.

Mahasti pauses "Winston Titus." she offers, softly. "Raynor is Raynor. Telling him to behave himself is like standing on the beach screaming 'stop blowing' at the wind. He's also very nice to me and done a lot to make sure I am adjusting happily to the Orion." she scratches his head "I do see how he could be grating though." she sort of nose scrunches "Because you act weird when I'm nice to you. Is there a reason I shouldn't treat you the same as I treat Raynor or Titus or any one else on board?"

Toby accepts the repetition of Winston's name without comment, then gives a "that's putting it mildly," after the mention that Luc can be annoying. He doesn't dwell on that though, as it's generally enough to make him want to go punch the pilot, instead he tilts his head slightly at the rest of Mahasti's explanation. "Weird?" he repeats, sounding faintly sceptical, "Doc, I don't act any different to you than I do to others. It's likely some cultural thing I guess cos trust me, I'm not acting wierd."

Mahasti blinks "I should probably write an apology note. I don't remember what I did but I remember startling Bennett." she mumbles, fidgeting for a moment "Well I don't know you as well as I'd like. You are like a geode." she murmurs, putting her camera strap around her neck before wrapping her hands into a ball "I don't quite know what is under your exterior, but, I bet it is dazzling." she murmurs opening her hands a little bit, she might still be a lil drunk atop being hungover.

"Bennett?" Toby asks, not having tracked whatever logic jump has occurred, "you talking about last night, or back in the fitness centre?" She was the pilot that had broken up the fight after all. The geode comment, and the follow-up get a raised eyebrow briefly and he just shakes his head before checking the time, "that's all well and good Doc, but I'd better be going, if I'm late for shift then Rutlii's going to kick my exterior into next week."

Mahasti apologetically smiles "I have trouble keeping track of my brain when I've had too much to drink. I'm sorry. Please have a good day." she mumbles, yawning hugely and loudly enough to audibly squeak. She sort of looks beat from her long night.
