Combat Information Center - Deck 2
The Combat Information Center is the tactical heart of the Orion. This CIC is designed in a circular formation, the Admiral apparently a fan of the classical set-up. Dead center are a set of large monitors suspended from the ceiling with DRADIS readings as well as other vital shipboard information. Under this is a small map table outlining current plots and positions. The table has a built-in phone as well as smaller displays as to critical damage reports. Both port and starboard other watch stations are set at all times, in two rows of tiers like stadium seating, one above the other. Each station has a purpose — Helm, Weapons, Communications, Electronic Warfare, Damage Control, and further tactical monitoring. More displays and banks of computer monitors line the walls. This area is heavily guarded by Marines at all hours of the day and night.

"The evening before last, one of our scouting teams on Picon came back with something alarming: The Executive Officer of the Roland Reese, Lieutenant Colonel Najeb. For those that have joined us since we returned to Piraeus, the Roland Reese incident is on record - for the curious, I'd highly recommend you catch yourself up. The short of the matter is: We discovered a flak frigate out on Armistice Line duty over a month before the war began that seemed to have been abandoned to a man. Evidence, video and otherwise, pointed to the suggestion that the Reese had been attacked by a large capital target, that we now believe was likely a basestar, and yet, we could find no crew at all, just empty uniforms and a filmy residue that we have since identified as a chemical weapon the Cylons have developed, designed to incapacitate humans and put them in a comatose state, but not kill. Now we know why the chemical does not kill, and what has potentially happened to the 990 souls that should have been on board the Reese, and were nowhere to be found.

"Lt. Morgan's scouting party encountered the Reese's Commanding Officer, XO, and several high ranking members of her command staff, in Marine fatigues, on Picon, claiming they were involved in a classified operation they could not reveal. After attempting all other means to get away from a hostile situation, a firefight broke out, and most of the Reese detail was killed. LTC Najeb was wounded and captured. Captain Doctor Nadir has verified from Naval Personnel records that this actually is LTC Najeb and not a clone or other recreation of his body. However

"The Cylons have surgically altered his (and ther others') bodies, installing what appears to be a data port in the bicep. While this might sound like something out of a Caprican Cyberpunk novel, I assure you it is real. Furthermore, after a couple of extended conversations with the LTC, it has become apparent that he has either been brainwashed to believe he now has a second personality…or the Cylons have been able to 'upload' a Centurion's sentience into his brain, and that sentience is currently in control of LTC Najeb's mind and body.

"This has a consequence that, I will admit, is rather horrifying, but we need all of you to stay focused. From a security standpoint, we will still medically scan all incoming personnel, but there is now the additional warning that there are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. It no longer matters if you recognize a certain face in the crowd when we locate new refugees or personnel - as much as it pains me to say it, anyone that has been potentially in Cylon captivity or outside of the Resistance's control could have been turned by this process. If at all possible, do not kill these individuals, but if it comes down to a question of your life or the lives of those on Piraeus, do what you must: There is possibly a live human still in that body, and I am retaining hope that our amazing Medical team will eventually be able to figure out how to purge these invading sentiences. If you find someone bearing these data ports, anything they say or do is to be considered suspect; anything. Please continue to practice the diligence and common sense that has kept us alive this long. Questions should be sent to your Department Heads and Command Staff.

"Despite this unpleasant news, I want to also convey something that is equally important but for good reasons. The contact we successfully located in the Cylon prison camp gave us contact points and times to attempt to reach the Blackjack group, and I can confirm with you that last night, a Raptor team and an Intel Officer from Orion went out to investigate this contact, and have located the group. The super dreadnaught Baker Bay, along with its assault carrier and group of cruisers, is intact and operational. We are working on getting them here at Piraeus and coordinating our operations, so the skies over our little safe haven are about to get a lot more crowded. This is bound to cause some adjustment, so bear with us as we get this group acclimated and caught up to speed with our own intel and operations. For those of you native to Picon: the day is coming sooner rather than later. We will wipe the Cylons off of Picon, and our counter attack there is only the beginning. More will be coming in the upcoming days.
