Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Above each bay and within are a trio of small red firefighting balls that will explode on too much heat being exposed. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.

Ben comes through the main hatck, walking down the main pathway. He's looking at all the ships, but mostly looking at all the work being done to them. He stops near a Rhino, just standing there looking it over. He moves to see all sides of the craft, but stays on the main path to try and stay out of the way.

Rhinos are kinda like raptors. Well, okay, they're not, not at all, but they're more like raptors than vipers, and so it tends to be the raptor deck teams that work on them more. As such, Toby is currently working on the one Ben is eyeing up, not particulalrly exciting work, just checking and logging t any changes ot the CO2 scrubbers, but apparently aircrew like to breath, so hey, vital work.

Ben steps back to where he can see the entrance of the craft. He stops to study it a moment and tilts his head one way or another. He can't see what he needs to see and steps closer to the craft. He notes the systems the crew are working on and speaks up over the work, almost yell as he raises his voice. "Does this thing have an airlock?" He steps closer.

Toby glances over his shoudler as he hears someone approaching. He vaguely recognises Ben from around and gives the pilot a brief nod before hearing the question. Shaking his head he says simply, "nope, just a hatch, like the raptors. Not big enough for an airlock." He even points to said hatch as well, so ben can see it for himself.

Ben sighs and stops his advancement. "Well frak." He looks to the Preditors, "What about them?" Pointing to the war machines.

Toby closes the compartment he's working on, having checked the last of the scrubbers in it, then leans agaisnt the bulkhead to look and see where Ben is pointing to. "Preds? Nope, none of these craft do. Your raptors and rhinos have hatches, vipers and preds just have cockpits. Why the interest? Got someone you want to throw out of one?"

Ben nods, "Myself." He looks to the other ships spoken of. "The Commander has this idea, and I was just seeing if was possible to rescue people from space. Looks like we'll have to do this on the ground." He sighs again. "I had to check. It was worth a look." He looks to the Wrench he's talking to and says, "I'm Ben. Ben Cross." His uniform clearly marks him as a Lt. JG.

"Rescue people from space?" Toby replies with a thoughtful look, "as in, pilots who've ejected and such? You could do that with raptor or rhino so long as everyone was suited up inside. Would take some fraking fancy flying, but just open the hatch and either fly so theyhead in, or stop close enough for the backseater to haul 'em in. We've recovered other things from space through a raptor hatch before, aircrew ain't no difference." As introductions occur he nods once to acknowledge he's heard then returns with his own, "Shackleton, Toby. If you mean Commander as in Commander Petra, tell him it's doable, your limiting factor is the piloting, and how much time you have to manouver."

Ben ponders this a moment, "Well Shackleton, how many suits are on board, and how long can they EVA in them?"

"Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you," Toby replies honestly, "somewhere between several and many, but probably not lots. Time wise? Depends what you're doing in 'em. Should be a couple of hours though, at least. They're the same as your flightsuits. Seal 'em up and crack on."

Ben nods to this information. "It's worth a second thought perhaps. It's been on my mind since the Commander had his briefing. He's the boss, so we'll end up doing what we're ordered. But I just had to see if it was possible to do it this way. It's not impossible." He wonders if he should go see the Commander. "I'm going to have to pollish this idea a bit further. Thank you for the help Shackleton."

"No Problem Lieutenant," Toby replies as he starts to head toweards his next compartment of scrubbers. "In theory it's very doable, just open the hatch and grab, your problems come in the practicalities. That's for you lot," meaning the Wing, "to sort though. Good luck with it."

Ben nods and starts back to the main ship. He has a lot to concider if he is really going to take to the Commander. "Will do." He give a wave, raising his hand as he walks away. Off to the briefing and dry run through to see how this is going to work.
