Combat Information Center - Deck 2
The Combat Information Center is the tactical heart of the Orion. This CIC is designed in a circular formation, the Admiral apparently a fan of the classical set-up. Dead center are a set of large monitors suspended from the ceiling with DRADIS readings as well as other vital shipboard information. Under this is a small map table outlining current plots and positions. The table has a built-in phone as well as smaller displays as to critical damage reports. Both port and starboard other watch stations are set at all times, in two rows of tiers like stadium seating, one above the other. Each station has a purpose — Helm, Weapons, Communications, Electronic Warfare, Damage Control, and further tactical monitoring. More displays and banks of computer monitors line the walls. This area is heavily guarded by Marines at all hours of the day and night.
AWD #70

Sporting a few more scars and a head completely shaved smooth this time around, Petra thumbs through his note cards, then picks up the handset and has Comms broadcast to the task force, "To the men and women of Task Force NOMAD, and the civilians that now call Piraeus home, this is Orion's Tactical Officer.

"Another month has gone past. A little over two months since war came to our homes. A few more have joined the Lords and Ladies in their final rest, and others have come to stand in their stead. While our enemy is still strong, they have weaknesses, which we are learning, and learning how to exploit them. The Cylons cannot be everywhere, and this is not their home. No machine can ever know this land like someone who has lived there, and the Marines defending Picon and Aerilon are, right now, making them pay dearly for every inch of ground they try to take.

"As I mentioned last month, our enemy has evolved, and some of them now look like us. We've discovered evidence of this on Aerilon and Picon, and now on our own home ground. I have been informed that one of our recent murder victims, Special Agent Catriona Boyd, is also a known Cylon 'skinned' model. Due to Piraeus' isolation from the rest of the Helios systems, Command is confident that she was unable to communicate any information back to them, as we had refused to allow her to return to Caprica after we had airlifted her out, shortly after the war had begun.

"We have had to deal with the unfortunate ugliness of mutiny, when Commander Wesley Bancroft, then commander of all of the Resistance Forces, attempted to assassinate Admiral Jameson and Commander Faulkner, in an effort to usurp Fleet Command for himself. Our people were able to assist one of his subordinates, now Commander Carolyn Spree, in bringing him and his traitors to justice. Commander Spree now leads all of the Resistance Forces, spanning Picon and Aerilon and a few other locations, and is working closely with us to coordinate how we can help kick the Cylons' asses with them. We are stronger when we fight together, and we now fight together.

"Our Air Wing has tirelessly completed Recon flights, scanning asteroid belts and minor worlds, looking not only for survivors, but for resources and supplies that we will need to sustain continuous life on Piraeus. Our pilots, ECOs, Marines, and some of our civilians have been able to rescue entire cargo ships full of livestock from my own dying homeworld of Virgon, and in the process were able to rescue civilians that had survived the initial holocaust of War Day.

"We have recovered transport liners and capital civilian craft from Hibernia. Craft we will be able to use for larger scale rescues and evacuations, whereas before we had been limited to our small, though highly valuable Raptors. And while our Pilots are eager and willing to make the trip, we do not have the fuel resources to save thousands or millions of people, a busload of 6 at a time. There are over three thousand survivors on the science stations on Pallas that we should now be able to rescue with the help of these craft.

"Which brings me to my next point: With the consolidation of efforts on Picon, we will begin evacuating non-combat and wounded combat personell from Picon and Aerilon, to Piraeus. Construction efforts are being coordinated on the surface now to prepare for our new guests before they arrive, not after they get here. We are also organizing orientation classes and informational materials, so that the refugees will be aware of the new world they will be calling home. If you have the time and inclination to help this effort, contact Lt. Morgan, Lt. Dr. Nadir, or Dr. Sheperd. As the population on Piraeus grows, we are keeping an eye on re-establishing a civilian government - we are not a military dictatorship, and while our purpose as the Colonial Navy is to protect Colonial citizens, we also serve them, we do not rule over them, and we must work to restore that system as soon as it is possible to do so. For those who currently call Piraeus home: Do not mistake our silence for us ignoring you. Civilians that have a concern they wish to voice to the Task Force are welcome and encouraged to do so by contacting one of the three individuals I mentioned before, until we have such time to be able to host a popular election for representatives, and can re-establish a Quorum.

"Lastly, some our personell have been able to determine that Piraeus itself is possibly not quite as plain as we were originally led to believe. There is now evidence of a large, civilized settlement, arranged in orderly city blocks, that was devastated by nucelar attack and then buried under tons and tons of bedrock and dirt. We are not the first civilized life on Piraeus. Our scientists are working on this matter and attempting to learn more: right now, this is all we know.

"That is the current Situation Report for the month of March, 2005. We will continue to scout for other survivors and save everyone we can, and make the Cylons pay for every single one we cannot. The Cylons attempted genocide, and they failed, and we will remind them of that every single day we exist, until there are no toasters left to shoot.

"So say we all."
