Firing Range - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
With ten different bays, the firing range can accommodate quite a few shooters with about two dozen spectators or trainees behind them. At 25 yards, the targets can be brought forward or pushed back up to the stops before the inclined plating designed to deflect rounds up. The lighting can be dimmed down to nothing for use with night vision or flashlights, also. A large sign overhead denotes the requirement of both eye and ear protection, as well as the prohibition of all ammunition except rubber or frangible. However, there are no firearms stored here. All firearms and ammunition must be checked out from the Marine Armory in the Security Hub.
PWD #03

Sometimes, training involves things you don't really like. In this case, yes, Augie loves guns. Augie loves shooting shit up. Augie doesn't love having to qualify with his weapons annually, as is he having to do right now. Most people like the new pistols such as the Picon Five-seveN or Dragon Mark XIX, Augie is a little bit old school.

The heaviness of the CAL P9 feels natural in his hands. With his ear and eye protectors on, he's standing in one of the stalls, aiming to put several rounds down range.

The first two rip through the center of mass on the target Cylon picture. The next shot goes wide and rips a hole in the paper just to the side of the Cylon's head. The last three shots are all limb shots. "Shit." he murmurs as he fires.

Still flinching at the sound of the shots despite the headset over her ears, Ceres waits for him to get done before approaching. Her dark hand rests on his arm to alert him before she speaks. "Hey." Her voice, slightly raised to be heard over the muffling covers, she offers him a faint smile. "Mind another?" SHe's got her Picon Five-seveN strapped to her side and it looks like she just got off CAP. Her suit is unzipped part way, dog tags shifting as she moves to a lane next to his.

"Didn't realize I would find you here." She's in a relatively better mood than the dispondence last night watching movies. She sets the gun on the counter and pulls out her clips, setting them out before loading, safety on. She then picks up a fresh target sheet and pulls the clip towards her to set it up.

Dropping the clip out of his pistol, he keeps it aimed downrange as he changes around the magazines. "Hey Ducks. Thought I told ya I had to requalify with my pistol." he comments, studying her for a long moment, to gauge her mood. "That and shootin' shit usually makes me feel better about things."

With that, he slams the slide home and lifts the pistol to aim downrange again.

Clipping the sheet into place, she nods, "Hmmm maybe thats why I came here." She's not focused, forgetting things. She hits the button and watches the target slide back into place at the furthest setting. Looking over at him through her goggles, there is a faint smile as she studies how he holds his gun. She lifts her hands, her own gun held out as the safety is clicked off and she slightly closes one eye to sight down the gun.

One shot is taken, then another and finally one more. Three successive with just a bit of breathing room between. "How are you?"

"Maybe I'm starting to rub off on ya." Augie grins over towards Ceres, watching her shots and arches a brow, impressed. "Hell, yer better with that than ya are in the ring." he chuckles, flipping the safety off of his pistol to aim it down range.

Ceres and Augie are standing in adjoining fire lanes, plugging away at the targets downrange with rubber bullets. Ceres uses a much newer gun that the damage control officer. "But while ya have more rounds, I have stoppin power."

A soft snort from Ceres and she glances back over at him, "I may be small but I have some fight, as you found out." Adjusting her stance, Ceres aims back down her gun and tilts her head, "Stoppin power.." There is a bright laugh now, it lasts only so long before she lets off three more shots.

"Lets see if you can stick your money where your mouth is, sir." Its a sharp retort, one meeting that unspoken challenge of his and raising the ante. "What are we betting on?"

Augie's first shot strikes home, the second hits a leg and the last.. yet another miss. He lets out a sigh and then glances over at Ceres with a mischievous glint in his eyes as he reloads. "One on one target shootin? Alright." he says, and lifts his gun barrel to the sky to consider. "…dunno. Got something in mind, sweetheart?" he asks her, as he pops the magazine out to reload.

"Right, one on one, load your new sheet and we can start fresh," Because she is not using her last three shots when two go wide. Damn. Ceres hits the button to pull the paper sheet back towards her, causing it to flutter on its way close. As she waits, she sets her safety again and starts to pull another, "Good question. If you get this, I will go on that damned freezing camping trip with you and if I win." She pauses, looking over at him. "You have to play in the mess hall, My Girl Bill and sing it."

Watching Bridget as she passes by, Augie arches a brow, apparently missing the terms of the bet, because he'd said 'frak no'. to singing in the mess hall. "Do you know her?" he asks Ceres, before his attention returns to the task at hand. "Alright, yer on. Speaking of, I have something to show ya later." he comments, and then looks at her. "On yer go, then?"

"On my go…" Ceres says and is concentrating now on aiming down at the new target attached at the end of her lane. SHe glances over at him, "I am going to love it when you have to sing." She says, a bright grin curling her lips. Taking a breath, holding it to steady her pulse, she pulls up three shots, one after the other, watching as one goes wild, one hit straight at the chest and another doing the same. She lowers the gun and looks over his. "Hmmmmm one and one I think.."

"…nuh uh. You missed." Augie says, gesturing to where the paper ruffles in a white spot that he shot out. "And I hit a limb. Two and one. I take the first round." a grin at Ceres at that. "Hope ya have flannel undies instead of just that lace stuff." a wink at her, and then he calls out to Bridget. "Hey, Red! I ain't seen ya around the ship before. Ya just come aboard?" And with that, he waits for Ceres mark and squeezes off three more rounds. Once done, he's changing magazines.

Bridget smiles warmly to Augie and Ceres. "Hey," she murmurs in a soft alto. Then she's setting up, putting her target sheet up and loading, face intent.

"Oh really? You are a pushy one, aren't you?" She mutters and squeezes off the next three rounds before catching Bridget's question. She laughs and shakes her head, "No, not really…well I don't at least and I probably shouldn't after that last round." Her last shot cost her. Muttering below her breath, she reloads another clip and rolls her shoulders back, lifting the gun and getting her shots off.

As the shots rip through the paper, Augie's blue eyes focus in. Ceres may notice that he's having to squint at the targets as he fires and focus in on them. The shots ring out, and Augie gets two joint shots and a body shot as compared to Ceres who seems to be all over the place. "…Ducky?" he asks, lifting his gun. "You realize, at best of seven, if I take this round, you better start thinkin about what you want to pack." he winks at her in a taunting manner.

And then to Bridget, he chuckles. "It's just a way to work off some steam." he says with a shrug of his shoulder. "I'm Augie and this is Ceres. She's a pilot and I'm the ship's DCO."

Grumbling as he takes yet another round, Ceres quips, "At this rate you may have a damage control officer to see to." A pointed look is given to Augie. "Captain Ceres Delacroix," is offered in the way of greeting. She is then aiming down range. "Well if you win this next round we won't have to wate anty more ckips." The sound of her gun going off sounds three times.

Bridget foregoes any pretense of pretending to prep her shooting, and gathers her items to stand behind the two and watch. Because. It's a goddamn hilarious show.

"…you wouldn't do that, Ceres." Augie offers, and since it seems to be formal greetings. "Lieutenant Augustus Garrido. Most folks call me Augie. Or knuckledragger. Or the last of the Neandrathals." he shrugs his shoulders and spins the hand cannon around to holster it. "Well. I'll bring the guitar with me and sing to you?" he offers helpfully.

"Gods damn it…" Ceres lets out in a hushed tone as she stares at their last three shots. Her gaze flickers over toward Bridget, "You wanna bet, Augie.." But its all an idle threat, her fingers hitting the safety and setting the gun down before pulling off her eye wear. "Yeah, you bring whatever you like, I am going to be packing layers and blankets." Camping in the snow. She looks up at him, a faint smirk as she shakes her head.

Bridget crosses her arms and watches for a moment. "What was the bet?" she asks, with a smile. "Something about cold, I reckon."

Spinning the pistol on it's trigger guard, Augie holsters it and places it on the counter. "..she has to go camping with me. Apparently she don't think I can keep her warm enough with my personality." A wink is sent over to Ceres. "If I woulda lost, I'd had to play the guitar in the mess hall."

Bridget shrugs. "Camping in the cold isn't bad. I enjoy it, even." She offers a bright smile. "If you're worried about the cold, I can go, too. More body heat in the tent, and all that." Bridget? Clueless.

"Yeah camping…" Ceres grumbles, "I still think that it would have been better had he had to play in the mess." Bridget's offer causes her to stop though, to clear her throat and then glance between them before she starts to pull off her headset. Fingers run back through her hair, smoothing it into place and picks up her gun to go check it back in along with the unused clip.

"Naw, I think that's okay, Bridget.." Augie offers as he starts to clear his own headset and glasses, watching Ceres as she strolls away. "But it is beautiful down there on the planet. Ya should try it sometime."

It's interesting when redheads blush. Either it's splotchy and ugly, or it makes them even more attractive. Bridget is the former, the red patches going into her hair and the collar of her shirt. "I see," she murmurs, and heads back to the lane she'd claimed before. "I, uh. Didn't realize." Setting up, she keeps her eyes firmly on what she's doing. She refuses to look at Augie or Ceres. "I bet," she mutters after a moment. "I hear it's real pretty."

"It's better in the summer, right now its frakking cold," Ceres calls from her place near the desk, offering up her clip the enlisted on duty and allowing him to check her gun. She slips it back into its hip holster, safetyed and then clipped into place. She smooths a hand down it and then hands over the head and eye gear. She smiles warmly and watches them both, noting the blush.

"Nobody said I wouldn't take ya back in the summer, Ceres." Augie points out as he walks over to put away his gear and turn in his weapons. "This is just the best time to get in some fishing and hunting. Ya ever have a fire roasted fish on a spit? It's some good eating there, Ducks, I'll tell ya that."

Bridget gets even more flustered and just stands there for a moment, recollecting her thoughts. Then she takes a breath and looks up, blush fading. "And there's a certain beauty in winter, the austerity."

"Well I will look forward to that then and then if I have to hunt, you get to rock climb." Ceres gives him a light smirk and then glances towards Bridget, "True, but its nice looking at it from low atmo fly over, not tromping through it." Viper jock doesn't like the cold. "Hopefully we won't come back with frostbite..not really a cure for that."

"Agreed." Augie says simply to the offer of rock climbing. "I dunno. If you're in layers and layers and layers, I don't know how we will get frostbite.." he points out casually, and then leans down to say something to Ceres as he turns in his gear.

"It was nice to meet you too. I will try to keep from being damaged and visitng you. Better ways to get know each other." A quick salute is informally given before she steps back and reaches out to take her sweatshirt from a peg on the wall. "Take care, Corpsman." She dips her head to the woman and shoots Augie a look. "My face won't be covered.." Its a grins he gives and then slips out.

"See ya later, Bridget." Augie offers as he tips his fingers to her. "You can go ahead and set a bet that I'll be down there before Ceres' is." he comments as he follows Ceres out of the shooting range.
