Summary: Colonial Marines come to Aerilon to oversee the departure of Cylon forces. They think they are ready for the APF, but they aren't ready for this shit when it hits the fan.

They've been here for four hours. The ship was supposed to be here two hours ago but apparently the Captain was refusing to fly and his boss had gone to have a few words with him. After some quiet time in the ship the Captain was more than happy to start up and get moving. He's currently coming in on approach to the huge grassy field, coming in out of the sun and circling around so he isn't passing over the group of Centurions or the Marines. Two minutes or so and it'll be skids down.

The Centurions have gathered into two groups of forty, standing in two blocks one behind the other. The other twenty are standing in a circle around them at very precise positions, scanning in all directions. There are no more facing the Marines than there are facing a different direction. None of them have moved an inch and they were standing like this before the Marines even got here. It's been completely quiet except for the sound of the wind, the birds, and the noise the Marines make. And until just recently, the sound of the approaching ship. With a dozen of these going on around Aerilon at the moment and dozens already completed without incident, its been fairly boring.

Ceasefire or not, being around this many Canners makes Miri's skin crawl. She makes lists of things in her head to distract herself. Zoo animals. Zebras. Monkeys. Tigers. Bears. Elephants. Hippos. A hundred centurions. Frak. She sighs and shakes her head, trying to start over.

Coop is wearing his JTAC kit and rifle, standing off and keeping somewhat near Penta. He's got the satcom radios and everything else needed to talk directly to any ship above this quadrant of the planet and he's been taking reports from the ship's captain. In his standard gear and sunglasses, its hard to tell what he's looking at. But behind them he's mostly watching the Centurions. Being this close and not engaged in combat is very very strange. Nevertheless, his rifle is loaded with one in the tube and the safety off. Rifle dangling from the front of his kit with one gloved hand on the grip, his other is hanging off the plate carrier and next to the PTT button for the radio mic. "Two minutes," he says to nobody in particular.

Penta breathes evenly as the Marines wait. In through your nose, out through your mouth, right? He'd chatter about telling his Marines to stay calm, but he already did. Also, it'd be even more a lie this time than before, because even *he* is rather creeped out being around this many Cylons. Nonetheless, they have a job to do. Secure the evac and make sure not to restart the frakking war, thankyouverymuch. "Hold your positions, Marines. Remember, no accidental discharges. Hell, try not to let a finger go near your trigger if you can possibly avoid it, just to be certain. Report *anything* you see approaching, but do *not* engage without my order," he says into his radio.

Lleufer is in combat ground digi camo kit. He is out on perimeter lying low and keeping an eye out for APF who might show up to try to interfere. Ynyr is lying prone in the field with himself propped up on a slight swell in the ground but using the thin concealment of the tall grass to help keep him hidden from immediate view. He's out a little ways to the east of the main Marine unit watching trees and a road off that way. From his vantage he chose carefully, he can provide over watch for the other Marines at a slight distance. The Centurions don't seem to be his primary concern but keeping eyes out for possible mobile SAMS that might try for the incoming ship. Lleu has a pair of field glasses to help augment his Arpay eyesight and listens quietly to his radio for communication between the Marines and Penta.

No chaw today. Not that he's out. Kane just didn't feel like bringing it with him this time. Sitting up in the turret ring of the military vehicle, he idly checks over the Ma Deuce, making sure everything is where is should be as he has it currently safetied and the charge handle pushed forward to not chamber a round, and making sure that he keeps the heavy weapon turned away from the Centurions as he waits. «Copy that, sir.» the gunner rumbles, hands resting idly on the traverse ring.

Scanning around the terrain surrounding the field, Kapali's doing her job as mission cynic by creating a mental map of everything around then making note if anything stands out or moves in a funky way. She eyes the lined up canners from time to time. "So frakking odd to just see them standing there, like service droids waiting to have their chrome buffed and polished," she mutters, voicing a thought that she isn't the only one having.

Looking relatively relaxed as he looks around at their surroundings, Fischer is keeping quiet. He's been making sure to not keep his attention on the Centurions now, maybe that's why he managed to stay that calm. Once more, he looks around at the surroundings, rather carefully.

Randy has her normal EOD field kit with her by default. "So don't look like a Cylon murdering duck?" Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, IT'S DUCK SEASON. She sticks to her spot. She's looked over her shoulder at the Centurions a little, because it feels like being in front of a firing squad, but rationality wins out in the end and Randy tries to largely ignore them unless they prove a reason to pay attention. "Guys, if they were going to shoot us or make a mistake…there's little we can do about it till it happens," as if that might put anyone at ease. After that, she's pretty much quiet, listening to the sounds and trying to detect abnormalities.

Yeah, this is definitely a weird situation, escorting Cylons off the colony and actually providing some sort of security. Wierd. Angelis is armored up in her standard marine loadout, her own rifle set to red and prepared to be lifted and fired at a moment's notice. She stands a little off from Randy, sunglasses firmly wrapped on her face, guarding her sensitive eyes against the daylight, but behind those shades, she's watching everything, scanning the surroundings intently with her newly improved senses.

Penta looks over the scene. "Marines…Spread out a bit. Let's try not to present a tasty grenade target. Remember, eyes *away* from the Cylons, out towards the horizon," he says into his radio.

The cargo vessel looks large enough to easily accommodate the hundred Centurions. It's one of those side loaders with fold-down ramps to the cargo section along the long cargo section fore of the bridge. The gear can be seen coming down. Everything looks casual as it turns off base leg to final approach as it comes out of the local star's light. Its already too late when they can see them.

Three small smoketrails that have already dissipated in the wind, hiding the firing location. They look like little rapidly moving yellow dots, similar arcing flares. But these little flares have guidance systems and warheads. Shoulder-fired SAMs.

The first one plows right into the port engine exhaust and detonates, shredding the igniters and dumping raw fuel outthe rear in a white puff. The second one hits a second later, right under the ships internal powerplant, shutting off all the landing lights and suddenly the gear stops lowering, as does the nose. The third missile hits a piece of flying debris and explodes, but this one detonates the fuel stream. Its very pretty, actually, the way the flames rapidly arc across the sky like an angry finger stabbing right into the rear of the ship. For a moment nothing happens while the ship begins a slow forward tumble through five hundred feet, about a quarter mile away.

The ship detonates in a blinding white light. The unarmored ship was never meant to survive a single SAM hit, let alone three. One, one thousand. A full second passes, not even enough time to drop to the ground. The blast shockwave from the ship blows down every single thing standing within a mile. The Centurions fall to the ground and every Marine is thrown at least two to three feet, ass over tea kettle. Anyone standing near the humvee finds their clothes and exposed skin cut heavily by flying armored glass, every single window blown clean down to the frame. The whole truck rocks up on two wheels and very nearly tips over onto its side.

By the time the Marines manage to actually get their vision and heads together, there's a new problem. There is flaming debris heading down towards them.

[Into the Wireless] Lleufer says, "SAMS! SAMS! SAMS! (but even as Ynyr tries to warn the ship, it's already too late to evade) Oh shit! Incoming!"

"Marines! SCATTER! Stay *away* from the Cylons, scatter outwards, but hold the perimeter! Humvee crew, report!" Penta calls into the radio, even before picking himself up and moving outwards.

Almost as soon as he sees them, the glare being what it is when looking towards the sunrise, Lleufer is too late to give enough warning over the radio. He bares his teeth and ducks his head, his ballistic shades already protecting his sensitive eyes from the worst of the bright flash but he closes them for a few seconds anyway. He even covers his ears. The blast shock wave will find him already lying prone on the ground, his helmet tucked down to protect his face. That is still not enough! The concussion hits him and by brute force, lifts the prone man and tosses him like a stick! The thunderclap is deafening! It's all Lleu can do to make sure he hasn't lost his rifle which is thankfully attached by a strap to his body armor.

Knox see's the SAMs, attracting his attention and he keys his mic just as the first one hits. "JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!" he yells into the radio mic, but there's no reply. The guy steps back unconsciously, staring up at the ship, trying to gauge where its going to fall before he goes shouting anything else. He's about to call it when the ship detonates. Cooper takes the blast full front and is thrown backwards, legs blowing up over his head before he lands on his stomach. Ow. He pats his face, trying to make sure its still there and doesn't realize his sunglasses are gone. Slowly getting to a knee and nearly falling back over. He looks up to see the debris, "Incoming debris!!" he yells, though not like anyone can hear a damned thing yet.

Half turned away from the sight of the canners lined up like pop cans on a shelf, Kapali barely registers the sound of Lleu's voice before she is airborne for a few moments that terminate in a sudden impact with the ground and rolls a few more feet before sliding to a stop. Ears ringing, the nasty buzzing sound that accompanies the shockwave is joined by the com chatter that is enough inspiration to have her plant one elbow against the ground and rolls to her side, coughing before starting to lever herself upright. She squints upward, trying to process what she's seeing and from the slightly baffled look on her dirt smeared face. "What.." is all she says before she swears and starts to scramble to her feet, not like trying to map trajectory of free falling debris, factor in gravity and wind, wishes falling debris came with a visible speedometer and jams her helmet further down onto her head while moving.

The explosions bring in a literal metal and glass storm of debris as the sudden and loud explosions are only slightly muffled by the earplugs he had put in place in case he needed to use the .50 caliber. As the glass rips through his lower frame, he feels the humvee rock to the side. "Oh shit oh shit oh SHIT!" he manages, leaning against the tilting of the vehicle and praying before he tilts back down and slams into the ground, knocking the breath out of him as he slams into the turret ring again. "Frak!" he manages in a wheeze, before he calls out on the comms. "Truck's dead, pulling the weapon to unass before I get more shit dropped on me!" Becuase a wall nearly frakked him last time.

Pulling the caliper pin, Kane rips the machine gun and it's ammo box from the mount before climbing out of the vehicle ring. Not that he realizes that his pants are shredded to Hades, his skin cut in innumerous places, and his ass hanging out for the world to see where his pants were literally blown away from his legs, as at least his boots are still intact. "Frakking frakkers frak!" it's all he can really say at the moment as he cradles the weapon and ammo can to run like hell before something large gets dropped on the truck.

One moment, everything's okay. The next Fischer finds himself in the air, lifted a little away from his original position. And then, the landing. He's never been good at those. He goes down, rolling a few times around before stopping. Looking up, he winces at the incoming debris, working to get to his feet, and getting out of the way of incoming debris.

If you think that flash and bang was bad with normal human senses, it's ten times worse for those with Arpay mods. Miri feels like her head's being split open, and doesn't notice the shockwave until she's midair, colliding with a tree. She gets the wind knocked out of her and pulls herself up, gasping, rubbing her eyes and scanning for wounded. Holy frak. Flaming shit in the sky. One eye out for injured Marines, she runs for relative safety.

Even being an EOD and being intimate with things like how to make a bomb out of a ship, Randy simply cannot get any kind of edge in timewise since she realizes what's happening exactly when it happens. She is hit by the shockwave before she has a chance to react. She's a lot lighter than most of the Marines and her body goes through a few tumbles before the ground finally wins out against all the kinetic energy. Her glasses are trashed, her headcam, she doesn't know where it is or if it's even still attached, and she lands on her side after the violent tumble. Luckily, she's nowhere near the truck, and she was already spread out per Penta's order. She blearily opens her eyes again and squints upwards as she pushes to a wobbly crouch as she examines the quickly invading debris pattern. She can't hear a thing, and isn't even sure if the rest of her is okay, but she's going to have to do her best to find quick cover (a laugh) or just /dodge/ incoming crap like she's playing some terribly simple but incredibly unforgiving video game.

Having been flung across the ground and smacked straight into a rock, it takes Angelis a few minutes to regain her feet, eyes blinking rapidly to try and readjust, sensitive ears ringing horribly in the wake of the explosion. She stares upwards as she tries to retain some semblance of balance, but her splodey-noise-melted brain doesn't exactly register the incoming rain of debris. Not for a good few seconds, then she's blinking again, and looking around, instead of moving, trying to ascertain who's still alive and if anyone needs help before doing her best to get out of the way of the falling ship.

The Cylons are just beginning to untangle themselves when the main body of the descending wreckage tumbles across the field. It takes out about half of them, others getting crushed under much larger chunks. Even as the debris is still falling, they seem to be trying to get organized and pulling their damaged ones out of the fires and out from under the crush of debris. The surviving ones on sentry duty turn towards the direction of the SAMs and their right arms all swap out. Their gun systems go active and every single one of them is scanning that direction.

Meanwhile the flaming debris, smaller pieces begin falling around the Marines. Nothing explodes on impact, but its sharp metal and getting hit with something weighing twenty pounds and moving at explosive trajectory speeds can still kill or seriously injur.

Cooper watches whatever seems to heading in roughly his direction. Its a little easier for a Line to move that fast, but he's still weary from the blast and is still trying to get his bearings. Once he seems to be past the falling shit, he looks back to the Marines and then back, glove rubbing the ringing from his eyes. He stumbles through a few steps and goes to take a knee, looking towards where the SAMs came from, also watching the Centurions. His eyes scan the treelines in the distance and he looks over towards Lleu with a quick glance to see if he's looking at anything in particular.

Bringing herself clear, Angelis pauses and takes stock of the scene. She watches the Cylons pulling their injured and surviving from the wreck, and tilts her head. This is a different side of them that she's not really witnessed before. Her hands idly start roaming her equipment, making sure everything is in it's place and she eventually drags her eyes away from the Canners to check over her own people, scanning, scanning. She finds Knox, watching him for a few moments, before moving on, making sure everyone's clear. Then she's moving, approaching the Centurions that are lining up their shots in the direction the SAMs came from, her Arpay eyes straining through the haze to see what there is to be seen. She's careful not to appear aggressive in her approach, hardly even looking at them as she scans the horizon.

Penta keeps moving. As he does, he speaks. HOPEFULLY, the Cylons are listening? "Cylon forces, we request that you not engage. We shall find and neutralize the hostile forces!" he calls. Then, "Marines, tell me where that SAM came from!" into the radio. "Once we have a target, swarm it and kill it."

[Into the Wireless] Penta says, "Marines, tell me where that SAM came from! Once we have a target, swarm it and kill it!"

Almost as soon as she's regained her feet, Kapali is playing frogger with falling - flaming - debris, dodging left and right accordingly. She trips over a piece that impacts a few feet to the side, dodging in the wrong direction to land in the dirt which shows that the universe is random after all. Where she'd been standing would have been where more debris land, seeing as how it's landing every damn where. Once the big pieces are done trying to flatten marines into pancakes she gives her head a quick shake, rolls to her feet again and starts scanning around, rifle up. There's a rather sick gleeful feeling at seeing all the canners smashed and crushed into canner debris. Despite the grime on her face, the buzzing in her ears, this sight makes her smile all the same. Just flat out grin. Yeah, this is why she's not in charge; also why she's not a diplomat, clearly.

Stumbling down from the vehcile, carrying the eighty pound weapon system, Kane moves presses against the vehicle to use it for cover as he moves to finally set down the large gun and flops on his stomach to start to set it up for firing from the ground. "I swear to gods, if I'm in a fire ant, I'm blamin' frakkin' Kapali for it." he manages, feeling the first stings of dozens of open wounds on his legs as he pulls down the tripod legs and shoves the ammo can back into place in order to start reloading it. "Setting up!"

[Into the Wireless] Lleufer says, "Sir, Yynr here. Couldn't pinpoint the direction but they are east of us. Used the angle of the sun so we couldn't see the SAMS rising. Canners are facing that way. Over."

[Into the Wireless] Penta says, "Penta here. Now that I'm picked up and looking the same direction, I see that, Ynyr. Let's stay cool, try to convince the Cylons to let us handle it."

There's a brief pause as Fischer manages to get out of the way of the incoming stuff. It's a close call, as he just manages to avoid the debris that's falling next to him. Dropping to his knees very momentarily, he takes a few deep breaths. "I'm getting too old for this," he mutters as he finally gets back to his feet and looks around with the others.

Precious seconds are lost. Lleufer is stunned, deaf and dazed. It takes him a few seconds to regather even some of his wits and start to look around. He's still on the ground, daring only a quick glance back where Kane and the Humvee were, but the whole blasted thing's been knocked over and tumbled. There's nothing else for him to do but roll down behind the slight rise and hope for the best. As it happens, Ynyr gets lucky /this/ time and isn't hit with debris as it rains down around them!

As it begins to thin, he finally lifts his helmeted head to look around but stays down on the ground for a moment longer. His Arpay eyes look to see what the Canners are doing, then look in the same direction to see if he can make hostiles out who may immediately become a threat. Only then does Lleu look back for the rest of the Marines. He checks his rifle and stays on the ground, watchful.

[Into the Wireless] Kane says, "Setting up the .50 cal next to the Humvee. I ain't running anywhere."

Dodging and dropping and rolling, Miri manages to avoid becoming a meat pancake from the falling debris. Once all of the pieces have fallen, she dashes through the dust to take cover by the Humvee and look out for injuries. There's a full moon out tonight. "Hermes frakkin' Trigemistus, Kane, hold still," she says, pulling out some quick-clot and sheet bandages.

Randy simply /runs/ from the big debris rolling in, and keeps her eyes on the sky, praying she doesn't hit a pothole or something that will twist her ankle. She's fortunate, and is able to dodge some incoming smaller debris. Once the debris passes, she has to swallow to get her ears equalized again and then starts to hear Lleu reporting the best-case direction. Anyone looking in her direction can tell she has a gash at her head and a few bumps and bruises just like anyone else. She looks briefly down at her body for a quick check to make sure there are no bones or debris sticking out anywhere. Then she waits for more orders.

The Centurions on sentry form a protective semi-circle around their 'wounded' and have their guns aimed out. They scan across the terrain inthe same direction the Marines are looking. When Penta shouts, one of them is pulling another out of debris and looks at him and freezes for a moment, almost something akin to a panicked reaction as it seems to consider what to do, staring at Penta. After a moment it yanks the other Cylon out from under debris and the gun arm comes out. It seems to be aiming right at Penta's head, too. The others on sentry turn and suddenly start running right at the Marines. Guns up, they seem to aiming wildly and then the one aiming at Penta, running, fires a quick burst.

The rounds pass right by Penta's shoulders and head, each round cracking loudly. One of them near enough to gently tug at the upper arm of his uniform. A moment later, if people look at him, they see movement further behind him by about twenty yards. A dirt-covered APF soldier holding a very large knife takes a few stumbled steps, half of his chest missing, and crumples into the dirt onto his side. Looking further, there are half a dozen APF similarly armed running at the Marines while the others look like heads and rifles poking up out of the ground about 100 yards away. Then they see it, a grassy square being thrown off the cover. Spider holes.

That Centurion just saved Penta's life.

Lleufer sticks a finger into his ear and wiggles it, then does the other one, trying to hear better than the ringing muffled stuff he can barely make out. His coms radio plug fell out so he replaces it, eyes watchful for hostile movement. The thought that it's probably not a good idea to try and order Canners around suddenly seems to be playing out in the worst case scenario. "Mother frakkers!" Ynyr shouts, gets to his feet and points in the direction the SAMS had come from, "The APF are that way, you stupid sons of bitches!" Gods damn it. Aren't the APF going to have a jolly over this change of events?! No point in his lying there waiting to snipe APF. Teeth gritted, Lleu gets his ass up from the ground and starts running for the only cover within sprinting distance. That stupid humvee.

Isn't Ynyr about to have a surprise? Things aren't what they seem!

Cooper see's the Centurions aiming and swings his rifle towards the Centurions. He hesitates, though. They aren't firing. When only one of them fires, he flinches and looks back. He see's everyone standing- except the APF falling. Then more APF. Oh. OH SHIT. "CONTACT REAR!" He isn't even worried about the Cylons all of a sudden. If the Cylons and the APF are working together, they're all dead. If its just the APF attacking, then he can't worry about the Cylons. Newp, its pretty simple in Knoxland.

Reaching the Cylons, Angelis takes a knee, and immediately brings her rifle up. She's following their line of sight, and as the rifles suddenly pop up from the ground, followed by the cover being thrown off, she grunts softly under her breath, figuring the Cylons are a bigger target, thus safer to stick around at this point, so that's precisely what she does.

Well, uh. Holy shit. I just had my life saved by a FRAKKING CYLON.

Once that's done going through Penta's head, which takes about a nanosecond, he speaks into his radio. "Marines, see those spider holes? CHARGE EM! Safeties off, rifles to semi-auto!" Leading by example, he fires at the APF and then begins to charge.

Kane was about make some smart arse remark about Miri coming to patch him up, but the sudden gunfire and the Platoon Sergeant's call out has Kane shifting to his knees. "You can grab my ass later, Miri!" he snaps as he pushes the heavy weapon around to bring it around as he slams himself to the ground with the rotation. And because the Centurions fire? Kane sure as hell fires. The large gun barks in stattico as it starts to sling heavy slugs down range. There's no charging for him, just opening fire. And semi-auto? Yeah, no. He just keeps it to bursts so he doesn't melt the barrel.

Blinking as he sees the Cylons fire, and what the target was, Fischer turns fully in that direction now. Readying the rifle, he moves forward with the others. A brief glance over in Kane's direction, and a shake of his head. "Looks like someone was caught with his pants down…"

"Messing with a system's inputs," Randy growls to herself as Penta starts to shout at the Centurions to get them to do something 'else,' other than what they are doing. She spots the pattern of the APF quickly enough. "Son of a bitch," she growls again when Penta gives his order, quickly replying over coms, "If we rush that we're dead!" It's not a refusal of an order, but Randy isn't executing, and instead tries to cover Penta.

[Into the Wireless] Randy says, "If we rush that we're dead!"

It takes Ynyr a second to realize what is going on, "Oh shit." An unintentional mimic of Knox's own reaction. Lleu throws himself down onto the ground instead. Forget reaching the humvee for cover. He brings his rifle into line and looks for APF targets to pick out and start shooting. Even as he does so, his ears still ringing, he speaks over the radio. Even as he's ready to shoot, Lleu's hand goes down to check his grenades as all hell continues to break loose.

[Into the Wireless] Lleufer says, "Sir! We don't want them bogged down in entrenchments."

"Walks like a trap, talks like a trap, and now we're protecting the canners," Kapali mutters even as she's taking aim at the leading edge of the incoming enemy combatants. She also keeps PHRASING it like that. Enemy combatants. They're not kids, they're not civilians, they're enemy combatants. She drops to a knee as well, reducing her target profile and begins firing.

As the Centurions move up, they slow their run and come onto a firing line alongside the Marines. The huge machines that were once killing friendly soldiers as fast as they could seem to have changed their minds on this. As they move, they come up along the front line Marines and all four of them suddenly squat in place, becoming 1000 metal bunkers and cover in a wide open field. This doesn't look accidental, either. Guns still blazing, they plunk down in place and let go will fully automatic fire.

This makes Penta blink for a fraction of a second. Nonetheless, he's not one to turn down an opportunity. "Penta here. Take cover behind the Cylons! I know that sounds weird as hell, but do it! Take cover and return fire!"

As the Heavy Machine Gun rattles around in the mount, Kane curses. "I can't hit shit like this!" he roars, "Zeus' balls!" With that, he stops fire to safety the weapon and start to reattach the pins to lock down the weapon. "Five seconds!" he barks out, unable to fire this round, as he needs to get the weapon reset.

Even though she knows they're supposedly on their side… sort of… right now, Miri's stomach twists when she sees the Centurions heading toward the Marines. She takes a breath, grounds herself, tucks behind one of the Humvee's tires and fires.

Kapali's jerks to the side slightly when the first canner moves into place beside her. She also spits out a few swear words to cover the shock of it all but when the second one shows up and then the rest keep stepping into place, she stops GOGGLING at them in shock and forces herself to focus forward again. She shudders even as she moves a few precise, careful, cautious, wary, cynical, suspicious, inches to the side then fires AROUND the canner that's suddenly - temporarily? - being a useful canner shield. Also, she can't seem to stop swearing in a low voice while doing so.

Apollo's testicles! There's a frak'n CANNER right next to him, and then another one! Lleu got off his shot but then he's startled, craning his head to look up. He suddenly rolls to get away from them! Piss himself, he might. But then Lleu /realizes/ what they are doing! Incredulous, he gets up to a knee and moves quickly to take advantage of the cover they are providing. You can bet your ass that Ynyr's heart is beating pretty hard right now, but he lifts his rifle and seeks another APF target…

Angelis moves forward as soon as the Centurions do. She's not questioning this, just accepting. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. She keeps stuck to the side of her new friends, moving with them and taking position slightly behind one of them, but still aiming at the APF, those frakkers are going down.

Randy dangerously sticks with her elevation, but doesn't rush forward. It's a gamble, and she's able to get most of her burst off on one of the APF playing with an LMG, but it's not nearly enough of its own to do major damage. Just light wounds to each arm. A /few/ bullets aimed her way zip by without even a scratch, but Randy doesn't pause to marvel her luck. She's already moving to see if she can use the cover of the Centurions when they rush up, but they quickly get into formation and the order comes down as she makes a controlled…mad dash for the Centurion-shield. She quickly spots her former target, obviously chewed up by a lot of other people's bullets, and returns fire to finish it off.

Fischer blinks momentarily as he sees the Centurions move into place as cover. Ducking behind one of them, he readies his rifle again, taking aim at another one of the APF folks.

One Centurion goes down hard, taking multiple rounds to the body and it crumples to the side, sparking. But a new one steps up on line and takes its place. They continue firing, but any Marine might look out or glance far to the right and there's six Centurions running at full speed into the distance, well beyond flanking range for an attack. They just keep going, heading for a distant treeline more than 800 yards away. No idea where the hell they are going.

As he's locking down the weapon, Kane feels a couple of sharp stings and cries out, especially as he realizes the wound to his neck and his fatigues are soaked in blood as he sees Miri get hit. "Sing out to me, Miri!" he calls out as he switches his attention to getting back down behind his weapon to open fire upon APF troopers, wincing in pain as he does so.

Angelis looks sidelong around the Canner, to Kapali and gives her fellow marine a quick grin, "Well doesn't this just beat it all… who'd've ever thought we'd fighting along side our enemies, eh Sarn't?" Her grin is fierce as she turns her attention down the line, making sure everyone is still standing. There's a moment of concern when she sees the medic get nailed, but then the indomitable Miri is bouncing back, so Tabi refocuses her attention on the APF and preparing to fire again.

It's times like this that Miri is glad she took her instructors' advice and learned how to do everything one-handed. Her right arm is broken, she can tell, and she's losing blood. She glances up when Kane calls out, and the pantsless gunner has it worse. "I'm a little teapot…" she sings as the hauls herself over to try and stop the bleeding and cover up the wounds.

Penta remains behind his Cylon cover. "If the enemy looks like they're in a good position for a grenade, Marines, toss one out there. Just warn before you do," he calls into his radio. After that, he pops up, fires a burst, then ducks *right the hell back down*.

"Thanks…" Fischer mutters to the Centurion he's taking cover behind, without really paying attention to what he said. He aims for the same APF soldier as the last time, taking a few moments, then firing now.

About the time that Kapali stops swearing at how absolutely wrong it is to be THIS CLOSE to a canner that's not trying to kill her, or isn't already dead and she's trying to talk the team lead into letting her take home a souvenir, she sees the one nearest where she and Ang are crouched get shot to .. brave little toaster heaven? "So surreal?" she agrees with a quick gleam of smile, shaking her head, twitching VISIBLY when a new canner moves immediately into position. "Seriously. Unreal," and she's firing back again at the APF a moment later.

This is surreal. Lleufer got a great shot off at the start and dropped one of the APF. Then he manages to wound another with the next shot. It's freaky, using a Centurion of all things both for cover and to steady his aim. His ballistic shaded goggles still wrapped over his eyes, helmet covering the top half of his ears, the Staff Sergeant is surely glad for the radio buds to shelter his ears a little bit from all the noise! Gods know what strange vibes he's getting from the non-living Canners who's within his personal space with Lleu's Arpay senses. Where as he can pick up on the heart beats of his fellow Marines when they are close by enough. Ynyr adjusts his position and keeps firing, sparing a quick glance to keep situational awareness on his team mates, and some Centurions making a mad run for somewhere.

Life is good in her Centurion-bunker, but Randy expects there to be things like grenades, and she swings her rifle away away in its sling to grab one of her frags. "FRAG OUT!" she yells, and lobs it in the direction of the spidey holes. To her, the Centurions might as well be more useful barricages in the Killhouse on Pireaus. There's too much to distract her from the more nuanced aspects of her new Arpayan senses, so a frag will have to do.

"Standby for Nine Line!" Knox can be heard yelling. He lights off a burst and tucks back behind the Centurion. "IP is Bullseye two-seven-zero for forty! Heading- FRAK! Two-Niner-Zero for twenty!" he takes a long breath. "Four hundred! Target is APF in bunker, friendly Marines and Centurions are danger close! Friendlies will be marked by smoke! Standby for execution!" Coop starts screaming over the gunfire to Penta, "Sir, got a four-ship of Raptors on the horn! ETA eight frakking minutes!!"

"Pop smoke and call em in, Sarge!" Penta calls. Then, over the comms: "Penta here. All Marines be aware, friendly air support is inbound!"

Wow! Grenades go off, Knox is shouting something, and there's bullets flying all over! Centurion's right next to him, Lleufer fires his shot and crouches back as chunk of dirt come raining down on top of him, far too close! He grimaces and looks, "MEDIC! ANGELIS IS DOWN!" Oh Gods, she looks bad even at a glance. Ynyr ducks and comes around to the other side of the Canner he's been using for cover to get closer to go and help Angelis if nobody's on to helping her right away. Lleu lifts his rifle and takes another shot, providing what cover fire he can.

The Centurions, with two of them down, slowly rise to a crouch but begin walking forward. They're assaulting into the gunfire at a low walk, guns aimed out at the APF and still giving unrelenting fire. The barrels inside their arms are very obvious at this point because they are glowing orange. But the cover of the Marines is advancing. If the Centurions go down its going to give the Marines a much better firing position.

Even as Miri is treating him, Kane's still taking hits as he feels a pair of new hits, even one that rips through the very bandage that was on his neck as he moves to try to lay down covering fire upon the units closest to Angelis, in order to by a medic time to tend to her as he blinks a few times, feeling the sweat on him as he fights the blood loss from his neck area.

Fischer frowns as he keeps on focusing on the enemies. Seeing the one he's been firing at not going down, he frowns, turning his aim towards another.

"Godsdammit!" Miri grunts. The frakkers are shooting her patient while she's working on him. This is a first. She sticks herself with some morpha and sets to work on the new bulletholes. She's usually pretty swarthy, but she's starting to look a little pale. "Doing good," she murmurs, sticking him with some painkillers and stimulants to keep him alert.

"I've got her!" Kapali shouts into the com as she slings the rifle around to her side, pulling the first aid kit from her side. It isn't much, it's what they all carry. Sure, all of her bandaids have funny faces drawn on them in indelible marker. Sad faces, ouchie faces, words are doodled all over the upper-side of all the bandages too. Like 'kapow' and 'zapped' along with 'zoinks' and 'bam', just to name a few. She's trying to remember everything they were taught in that last, most recent, first aid refresher course and goes to work while smacking the canner nearest her with one elbow - on purpose. "Cover us!" then twitches, because she just yelled at a canner. So surreal.

The frag Randy threw explodes right next to one of the APF soldiers that was busy BLOWING UP HER FRIENDS…right over there, which is to say, Randy has ringing ears and she's lucky she's not Kapali or Tabi. She sees the incoming grenade way too late to do anything but angle her body away from the blast. Luckily Kapali and Angelis block the debris pattern from her. She rolls back up onto her feet and blinks over at the carnage of her friends. "Kap I got you…you get Tabi." She doesn't even say what is /wrong/ with Kapali. Doesn't tell her. She pulls out some field shit they all carry and starts to go to work. "Crap our cover is moving and leaving us more exposed." Line of sight is increasing for enemies further out.

Lleufer keeps moving forward with the one Centurion so he can continue to gain the benefit of it as cover - and that proves useful as the big damn thing takes a bullet that might have hit Ynyr instead! The Staff Sergent gets off another good burst, ripping up APF but now Kapali's down as well! Damn it! Lleu falls back and sees Randy already there, trying to help her, even as Kapali /had/ been helping Angelis. What a shitfrak'n mess they are in. "WE'VE GOT INCOMING! Let's get our wounded back!" The MP lifts his rifle to try for one last burst but then Lleu's going to go and try to help drag their wounded back away. Knox told them air support was in bound and they are too close!

"Cylon forces, be advised! We have called in air support! Fall back to the smoke!" Penta calls out. Then, "Marines! FALL BACK BEHIND THE SMOKE! GET OUR WOUNDED OUT OF HERE!" goes over the radio.

As the combat continues to range, Kane slows his fire as he realizes the barrel on the Ma Deuce is starting to glow with the heat of the rounds being fired. That's when he finally looks to the woman that's been valiantly trying to treat him and her condition. "Dammit, Miri!" he snaps, moving to grab his own kit off of him to try to treat her injuries. "Why didn't you say shit." he snaps at her in concern as he starts to try to get her arm bandaged and held together fully.

Well. All going peachy, a few more rounds fired off in a quick burst at the bloody APF… and then… well, Tabi didn't even see the grenade heading their way. So focused on her targets, the rifle in her hands and the enemies in front of her, the entirity of her world. There's suddenly just a massive explosion as the frag hits her and Kapali's position, indescribably agony followed by blissful numbness as unconsciousness settles…

Nodding a little as he sees the enemy going down, Fischer starts stepping back as he hears the words about falling back. He starts moving backwards, turning his aim back to the former target he was firing at.

Kapali shares a nod with Randy but her hands are full, literally, working on Ang. So much of the red stuff on the outside that's supposed to be in on the inside. She's briefly entertained by the memory of how they all kept pushing for the notion that mud might actually be useful, if worse comes to worse. No, she doesn't use mud. But she figures out where to apply as many bandages as possible, and those neat things that help absorb blood, those things are cool too. She moves fast, because first aid classes on the ship are way more fun than first aid in the field. She's reaching for the kit again when another explosion goes off right near where she is kneeling beside Ang, with Randy working on her too. Half a moment is all that she has to work with, and she shoves Randy with one hand to try to push her out of the blast zone and throws herself over Ang, her first aid kit spilling open entirely in the process. The sound of the explosion adds to the lingering sound of buzzing in her ears that slowly fades away.

"Because you had holes in your neck," Miri grunts. She almost pushes him off of her, but she realizes she can't quite feel her fingertips. She acquiesces begrudgingly, working on the rest of his wounds as best she can. She screams when another grenade flies toward Tabi, Randy and Kapali

[Into the Wireless] Miri says, "Flynn, Kapali, talk to me!"

Knox looks over at hearing about wounded and doubletakes at Angelis and then.. the others. Kapali goes down like that. Anger roils through his veins. He moves with the Centurion and fires his mag empty, then, «"Juno Flight, we need you to jump in here right frakking now!» hearing the firefight on the radio probably brings home that urgency. «"Following strike we need you to land! We have multiple critical surgicals! Alert Orion Medical they have incoming!"» A pause while he holds the speaker, pressed hard against his head. A heavy nod. «"Copy Juno! Drop it! Drop everything! Do NOT engage the Centurions! They are FRIENDLY!!! Throwing yellow on our position!! Mike-Six-Four, we are danger close and I'm out!"» Cooper then reaches to his vest and rips a grenade out. The pins yanked, he shakes it twice and throws it sidearm. Yelling at the top of his lungs, "Raptors jumping in! Strike Time on Target thirty seconds!!" Eight minutes was apparently taking their sweet time.

Randy's /wholly/ focused on trying to treat Kapali as fast as possible. Her hands are still kind of shakey from the last blast she avoided just moments before, and with Kapali moving so quickly, she has to move quickly too. She's trying to reach around Kapali to check her chest wound when her friend quickly shoves her out of the way of the grenade she never saw. More ringing in her ears, confusion as she sits up to look over out of a terrible inherent impulse that is simply basic human programming. Her mouth opens and she lets out a wailing scream that sounds like all grief and half battlecry. She knows, somewhere inside instinctively that her best friend is gone. That her little sister is mortally injured. There's no time to verify. Then she moves quickly over to grab Kapali. She's on top, and heaves her into a fireman's hold. "ANGELIS IS DOWN! HELP!" She clearly can only carry one at a time.

Getting up and moving towards the yellow smoke is kind of important. That's the safe zone and four Raptors are about to drop every piece of ordnance they can carry. The APF, seeing the Marines retreating with wounded and the Centurions backpeddling, begin getting out of their spiderholes and firing as they run. There are a dozen more of them. The four -BANG-'s associated with the inner-atmo jump of the Raptors barely registers over the gunfire, but the ships immediately all dive in.

Miri helps Kane strap her arm to her side and she's heading over to treat Coop. She has a pad out and to his neck before she starts talking, treating him one-handed. "Little breaths until I get this plugged up. Little breaths… Someone's got Tabi, we're all good." She hopes to all the gods that she isn't lying to him.

Lleufer fired his shot even as he was moving and then he's making a dead run to help Randy. "FLYNN, I'm here!" Randy's got Kapali and is likely charged on adrenlin. So as he was already heading that way, Ynyr drops his rifle to let it hang by the strap, freeing up his hands. He grabs for Angelis and hauls her up, hefting her inert form up and over his shoulder. Knox might show up in his face any second but there isn't time to wait to see. Coop can help Randy if she faulters with Kapali. Ynyr starts running as fast and as hard as he can for the yellow smoke, adrenlin in his own veins, heart pumping as hard as his legs! Thank the Arpay that his left leg is good as new, strong! No limping, just a full on charge while he runs like hell and carries Angelis for the shelter of the humvee.

And not a frak'n second too soon! The bombs are deafening! All over again, a great concussion to knock Lleu down onto the ground, jostling Angelis hard as Ynyr falls face first into the dirt, knocked down with the force of explosions rooolllling out so hard that the ground heaves! It's enough to make his ears bleed.

Once the Raptors drop their load and have passed, Kane rides out the shock wave and watches Miri head off. Turning back to the machine gun, he continues to fire at the APF positions, providing a covering fire in case someone, anyone, survived that attack. Or just to get out his own anger. Once the Raptors land to start to load their wounded, Kane abandons the heavy machine gun where it is, and starts to carry his bloody bear ass to one of the Raptors for an evac, too in shock to really give a damn about anything else except helping hwere neede.d

The shockwave from the first bombing run normally wouldn't send Randy to the ground, but she was in the middle of taking a step and rather top heavy and dealing with the disorientation of the grenade blast. She's trained for things like this, to get her bearings and go. She staggers from the imbalance created by the shockwave, given how top heavy she is, but just pushes through with more running, pumping her legs even when it knocks the wind out of her. Yellow…yellow..yellow running. That's all that's sane that's going through her head right now. She keeps telling herself the words. She's not as fast as Lleufer is.

Knox takes cover behind one of the dead Centurions and looks back as the bombs drop. He tilts his head against the blast, spotting them across the target zone. Some things just can't be escaped, like training. Half his brows singe off in the heat and there's an instant sunburn across his exposed face. Shrapnel rips into his arms and leg. he's bleeding, sure as shit. «"Juno, Six-Four, spot good rounds! Splash complete! Watch for IR strobes north to south. Land between them! Six-Four, over!"» Getting up, he grits past the wounds and favors a leg as he runs for the field, covered in black and yellow smoke. Grabbing two IR beacons from his pack, he sidearms one to the left then throws one further in the opposite direction. "«Strobes out!»" Don't think about Angelis. Don't think about Kapali. You can't help them if the Raptors won't land. …And they acknowledge on the radio and can be heard coming in, engines roaring as they begin their flared braking and touchdown.

OK, he's not hurt. Or well, as far as Lleu knows. Bruises, bits of tiny shrapnel have impaled his body and his leg but Ynyr hasn't had time to notice yet. He gets himself up out of the dirt and grass and picks up Angelis again. Where is he? Knox is over there, directing the Raptors to land. Good, you know you can always count on Coop. Lleufer heads that way with his wounded burden and takes Angelis to the closest birdie he can reach. Willing hands are there to help load her up, "Careful! She's hurt real bad!" He shouts because he can't hear frak! Ynyr doesn't board though, he looks to see if he can help Randy with Kapali, and anyone else of their team who needs a hand. Miri with Kane…

Randy doesn't even notice the shrapnel damage at first. She was so busy thinking about running and yellow and running and yellow that it's like her brain never stopped to register the fact that she has these things called nerves…and there are things sticking out of her body…again. She runs towards the landing Raptors. Ears still ringing from all of the blasts, blood coming from her ears, locating the landing Raptors in the friendly zone is more about inference after they drop into the smoke. "Ynyr!?" she shouts /way too loud/ to be qualified as an inside-Raptor voice. She shifts Kapali into the Raptor and then loads up, pulling Kapali's body closer, drawing her up into a seated position as Randy holds her in a protective gesture.
