Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.

Alex is finishing up wrapping up what seems to have been overlooked while in the middle of a casual conversation with a technician. It's mid CAP, so everyone seems to be about their duties. She's not wearing a helmet at the moment, and the conversation sort of peters off awkwardly when the Chief wanders off to store the cable and returns, standing off to the side so she can flip through her memopad.

Toby is on his mid-shift, although instead of heading to the mess, or finding somewhere quiet to chill, he's out NCO hunting. Not just any NCO either, the Chief specifically. He's been keepingout of her way since their last conversation, but as the days pass he finds himself in a position where he actually has to talk to her again. There's simply no avoiding it. With his gloved hands firmly in the pockets of his coveralls he approaches with caution, stopping a few paces away and clearinghis throat briefly before greeting her with the customary, if wary, "Chief."

Alex crosses something out in her memo-pad and scribbles something else in. It isn't till Toby actually addresses her that she seems to notice he's there. She angles towards him and lifts her gaze to meet his, "Hmm? What's up?"

"My shift on the 16th," Toby starts, that being the easy bit to say, and also framing everything that is to come next in at least some form of context. The rest though, that's trickier, as the pause before he continues likely signifies. "Thing is Chief, it's a Feast Day for me, and I've pretty much always taken them down on P for.. well, for various reasons really." That was harder, but nothing compared to what comes next, he's a proud man and begging comes really, really hard. "I know, what you said, I'm not allowed to leave the ship and that, but it's a Feast Day.. Would there be any chance of even just a couple of hours?" One hand has slowly snuck out of his pocket and is now rubbing at the back of his neck as if there's a knot in the muscle there, the other though remains firmly hidden in his pocket.

Alex shifts her weight as she slides the memo-pad into the back of her toolbelt, anchoring by simply tucking the cover under. It allows her to give Toby her undivided attention when she realizes it's a personal request. "Yes." No hesitation. "Just don't give me a reason to be a dick about that too okay?" She arches her brow, looking for explicit confirmation.

Toby actually blinks once at the speed of that reply, apparently he'd been psyching himself up for a longer debate on the point, and prepared counter arguements and everything. Still, he's not exactly about to pass on the opportunity that has presented itself. "Thanks Chief, I won't, you have my word." It's almost a solumn reply, as if to lend gravitas to his words.

Alex nods briskly. She doesn't offer an explanation and responds to Toby with the same seriousness she affords to all of the Deckhands, that is, without some accompanying afternoon-special lecture. "Good. I hope you have a pleasant Feast Day," Alex says with a brief bow of her head, more a prolonged nod than anything. "Is there anything else?"

Toby is still giving the faint impression that he's not entirely sure about what just happened, but the final question from Alex has him sharply back in focus. "Erm.. no, no Chief, that was all." He starts to turn, then pauses to offer another "thanks," before considering himself dismiossed and vanishing back to whence he came.
