One hour earlier two Raptors took off from CFAB Crandall on Picon, heading for the distant Blue Mountains and the town of Reeding. Captain Bennett's Raptor was in the lead, and Lieutenant Kane's Raptor follows close behind. Both ships are loaded down with men (or women) and medical supplies needed to complete the humanitarian mission that is to be completed in Reeding. The mission itself started a little before dawn, and now the sun is coming up — slowly revealing the brown and green foothills of the Blue Mountains. Out of the cockpit of each Raptor the craggy peaks of Blue Mountains can be seen, jutting up out of the surface of Picon like gray bones. The lower slopes of the mountains are coverd in pines, but on their peaks it is already snowing. Reeding itself is nestled in a high pass between the mountains, and that pass is just fifteen minutes away from the Raptor's location.

One hour earlier two Raptors took off from CFAB Crandall on Picon, heading for the distant Blue Mountains and the town of Reeding. Captain Saint Clair's Raptor was in the lead, and Lieutenant Kane's Raptor follows close behind. Both ships are loaded down with men (or women) and medical supplies needed to complete the humanitarian mission that is to be completed in Reeding. The mission itself started a little before dawn, and now the sun is coming up — slowly revealing the brown and green foothills of the Blue Mountains. BENNETT Sitting in a jumpseat in the Raptor, Carmine watches the terrain as it goes by beneath. Sitting with his LMG across his knees, the Staff Sergeant whistles tunelessly under his breath, looking for all the world like he's going to break into a grin at any moment.

BENNETT: Petty Officer Kalum sits next to the hatch in Bennett's Raptor, his hand resting on the HMG next to him. He is wearing his green BDUs, body armor, helmet, and parachute. He carries with him his rifle, medical bag, and survival kit as well. He is bundled up for the mission, and currently a gray and black shemagh scarf is wrapped around the lower half of his face. "Having a good time Staff Sergeant?" Kalum calls out to Carmine in a muffled voice. "Have a look at that view…" He motions towards the cockpit and the distant mountains. "It sure is better then what you saw in the Enlisted Barracks last night." Kalum says lightly.

MAIA: Reed is in his seat, his belts set and pulled down tightly. His feet are propped up on one of the crates, crossed at the ankles, while his weapon is squeezed in place by his legs. His head is back, helmet resting on the side of the Raptor, his eyes closed. Is he really asleep? His breathing is steady, his posture is relaxed and moves easily with the ship as it maneuvers in the skies over Picon. Hands tucked into the straps of his combat Harness. His gear, sweat stained, has seen some wear, boots dulled so as to not shine.

BENNETT isn't too far off but the little redheaded doctor is sitting in the farback, checking some batteries in the mobile equipment as if worried she had missed something. She eyes her pack nearby, considering it as she leans back, her braid tucked under a tan cloth tied in a small bow atop her head. Mahasti herself aside from fidgetting seems to be beginning meditational breathing and focusing her energy into the task at hand.

It's a relatively short hop from CFAB Crandall to the town of Reeding, after the initial jump to Picon was completed earlier this morning. Flying point in the minimal formation of raptors, Bennett has her eyes on the windscreen while she scans through sensor readouts for anything unusual. So far, it has been smooth flying.

Maia Laden with as much medical gear as she can carry, and after having discerned this precise weight though a good bit of trial and error, Nadir is seated so that she is angled away from the nearest window, having no real desire to see the actual trees over which they're flying. The medical supplies have been packed just as carefully, each crate numbered - the contents of each crate organized just as ruthlessly - and those numbered crates are listed on a piece of paper that Nadir has tucked into one of the inner pockets of the vest she's wearing. A copy of the same list is shared with Mahasti and, because Nadir is just that kind of OCD, she's gave a copy of the same list to Kalum - all medical personnel might need to know what each crate contains.

BENNETT: Looking back at Kalum, Carmine does grin now. "Not so long ago, I was down there looking up and the only thing in the sky was very unfriendly. Anytime I get to look down at that I can't help but grin. that and I make it a point to have a good laugh before I do an insert. I refuse to die in a bad mood."

Maia is most definitely in her own Raptor with Zhen and a load of Marines and doctors. It's been a relatively simple flight so far, nothing taxing. The sunrise beautiful with the golden hues dancing across the earthy colors of the foothills. "Fifteen minutes," she relays to the those in the back, glancing back with a smile. "And the view is spectacular."

Zhen is playing ECO to MAIA's pilot. Not yet used to being in her backseat, Zhen has taken a little bit of time in-flight to try and get to know her better. This of course all occurs before they get too close to their destination, that being a time Zhen does not want to be a distraction. The DRADIS is paid attention to no matter what, the dark-haired woman not letting herself grow lazy.

(MAIA) Did someone say 'milk run'? Maybe they forgot to tell Private Mallas, as his combat pack is jammed full of stuff, with various bits of cold-weather gear and two spare canteen strapped to the top and sides. He rides with his rifle propped upright between his knees, dozing as he waits for the bus to land. His standard CMC combat gear has been augmented with a few personal touches: Four silver Centurion fingers dangle from an old bootlace that's looped around his neck, and some white chalk letters on the front of his black helmet invite the Cylons to "HAVE A NICE DOWNLOAD."

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Flight, we have about fifteen minutes by my calculation before we reach Reeding. Eyes open, and confirm emergency FTL coordinates in case we need to abort the mission."

MAIA "Think you have enough gear, Sir?" Reed asks Captain Nadir, his eyes still not opening. A yawn, he shifts a bit to get his heavy gear into a slightly more comfortable. He hears the radio call out, fifteen minutes. A long time to be stuck riding in the back of a bus and not able to do much about anything that might come their way till they land. So as any good Marine would do, get as much rest when you can, where you can, before you are actually needed.

BENNETT: Kalum nods his head at what Carmine has to say. "I can get not wanting to die in a bad mood. However, I'd settle for living through a mission, even if it puts me in a bad mood." The Pararescue Jumper says with a muffled chuckle, the smile on his lips hid by his scarf. The PJ unhooks from his seat for a moment, places his hand on the back of Bennett's chair, and then leans forward so that he can get a better view of where they're going. After his pale blue eyes scan the horizon, he glances over to the Captain. "Now, don't forget I'm riding with you today Captain, I'd hate to have to remind you of another shared adventure ten years from now." That said, he settles back into his seat.

[Into the Wireless] Maia says, "Butch, Centerfold. Copy, so far the DRADIS is clear."

(MAIA): "They're aware of our ETA?" Nadir wonders at Maia, casting only the briefest of looks through the front of the Raptor - decides that she doesn't really appreciate the view, or is maybe just the wrong audience FOR the view. "What's the weather like on the ground?" she wonders next before looking past the stack of supplies to the rattling-gleam of cylon fingers that Mallas is wearing as decoration. A small, very small, shake of her head is given before she eyes Cassidy briefly. "No such thing as to much gear, only that which isn't need and can be put back later. After all, what ever we don't need the doctor that's been handling medical care on the ground will have use for it. A veterinarian, after all, needs every tool we can put in his arsenal."

Bennett's raptor skims beneath the clouds, exhaust fanning into pale, twin contrails in the burgeoining dawn. There is a little chop as they blow through the cumulus, and some thumping and rattling from loose equipment and supplies strapped loosely to the bus's cargo hold. The pilot laughs when Kalum leans forward to speak to her; the sound is warm, if muffled by her helmet. "I hope you will forgive me, Petty Officer, if I would prefer this trip remain completely unmemorable." A brief glance over her shoulder and a wink, before she begins maneuvering the bird ground-ward.

BENNETT: Mahasti listens to the chatter, her hands tugging her bandana "Do you guys ever stop cracking jokes?" she asks, towards Kalum and the other person in the raptor, closing her eyes and extending her hands palms up her tatoos showing for the moment as she begins very softly whispering. «I begin to sing of Asclepius, son of Apollo and healer of sicknesses. In the Dotian plain fair Coronis, daughter of King Phlegyas, bare him, a great joy to men, a soother of cruel pangs. And so hail to you, lord: in my song I make my prayer to thee.» its a soft, musical chanting sound, prayer? In Leonese of course.

MAIA: "DRADIS is clear," Zhen confirms. "Looks like this might be an easy mission for once, Centerfold. Let's cross our fingers and pray it stays that way…" A few read outs are taken in and then conveyed to Butch, trying to confirm that she does indeed have the proper coords in case they need to haul balls to the walls and get the frak out of there.

Bennett: Looking back to Mahasti Carmine considers that for a moment. Just grinning at her instad of replying as she breaks into prayer. Looking back to Kalum, he shrugs. "Going home alive in a bad mood is acceptable too…Preferable even. but if I HAVE to die. I'm going to die in a good mood with a Cylon or 2 to keep me company." Placing a cigarette between his lips, Carmine refrains from lighting it, he letting the cancer stick hang from his lips as he ges back to watching their approach.

MAIA: Oh frak! There was that word, well two of them, easy mission. One eye opens so that Reed can look forward to where the drivers are at. "You didn't just say that did you, sir?" While the question was directed forward it was mostly aimed at Zhen. A deep sigh, his boots are flopped to the floor with two distinct thuds. To Samtara he just looks, then scans the compartment and the crates "Hope you left something back on Crandall and or the Orion." He smiles, "Sir."

Hearing the Doctor, Maia smiles, relaying the information as she knows it. "We'll be landing in light snow and there is a bit of a cross wind coming in out of the mountains. Looks like clouds are gathering on the peaks, maybe if we get this done we can outrun any heavy clouds." Maybe. Hearing her ECO, she flashes a grin. "Thanks, Rainbow. Looks good."

SET POSE: The town of Reeding soon comes into view, and it is an industrial hole in the earth — sharply constrasting the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Piles of various types of ore surround the town, and various refinerys and smelting complexes are located near the ore piles. Normally, each factory or refinery would be spewing smoke and pollution, but the cylons have snuffed out the fires in their forges. The rest of the town is drab, gray, and simply servicable — set along a single main road through the town. The rocky walls of the mountains come right down to the edge of the town, and they are absolutely pitted with mines and caves.

As the Raptor's approach, green smoke begins to waft skyward from just out in front of a small temple located on the main highway - the LZ for the Raptors. Nice. Open. Mostly clear of the broken down cars that litter the highway further down the mountains.

(MAIA): Nadir actually groans, passing one gloved hand over her face, "Tell me you didn't say that," she says a few seconds after Cassidy does. "And of course I did. I'd tell you that actual percentage of supplies that I pulled from inventory if I thought you were actually serious about that question," she adds before glancing forward to Maia again. "Snow? Really? Hmm, had better relay that to Dr. Nasreen, she might have a bit of a freak out about being caught in snow again."

Bennett doesn't bother updating her passengers on the weather. This is not a pleasure flight, and the comfort of those riding in her bus.. does not appear to be her priority. Get them there in one piece, get them home again. "We are down in three minutes," she speaks over her shoulder, and her ECO immediately begins preparing for landing. Tick, tick, tick as safeties are released on the hatch lock, and weapons systems are checked. "I hope you have dressed warmly; it looks a little chilly down there." The engines spool up with a whine as she banks and brings them in. More thuds and a sickening jolt as they're caught by a crosswind not five hundred feet from the ground. And then the reverse thrusters are switched on, and in seconds they are down.

(MAIA) The banter in the back of the Raptor rouses Mallas only occassionally. The thing that rouses him is Maia's announcement about the weather ahead. The Private sits up sharply and tries to get a look out of the front of the bus, staring blankly for a good few seconds. "Frak. It's always snowing on this rock," he mutters darkly, then gets himself busy checking over his weapon and gear.

(MAIA) A huge fan of the helmets that keep their brains from becoming jelly, forgets (at times) that her helmet has a built in comm unit. Nadir remembers to turn on her end of the comm again (it may or may not take her a few moments of fiddling), "Mahasti, there's snow on the ground, just giving you a heads up," she says quietly. "You didn't pack your swim wear I trust."
<Marines> Lleufer has disconnected.

MAIA: Reed stares at Nadir, looks to Mallas, gives a wink, then back to the head Doc. A sigh. He calls out to the front of the bus folks "So gonna be a bit rough coming in?" Clearly choosing to ignore Samtara's response about the percentage of something. "Yes sir," he does respond to the CMO finally. "Seems like it, doesn't it, Mallas?"

Zhen looks over her shoulder at those protesting her choice of words, her expression vaguely amused although the reflection on her helmet's visor keeps it obscured. "Yeah, I said that. Why?" Now done, she turns an attentive ear to the pilot, guiding her in for a landing once they're on final approach.

BENNETT: Grinning as the Raptor lurches, Carmine holds his weapon a little closer. Moving towards the hatch, he takes a moment to fish in his pocket. coming out with a roll of Duct tape, he lays a strip over the end of the LMG's barrel A quick check of his gear before he keys the mic on his communications gear «Radio Check Dog Company, let's hear you Howl.»

Well in Maia's defense, she'd been asked about the weather…"Three minutes to the LZ, everyone check your gear, looks like we've got a welcoming committee." As they near, she gradually drops the altitude. Hit with a crosswind, the Raptor jars. "And hold on.." A little bit of a late warning. And right at the three minute mark, the skids hit the makeshift landing zone.

BENNETT : The doctor's green eye opens as the turbulence of landing occurs, expression sharply aimed at Carmine simply chuckling. Mahasti has a sense of humor at least. Upon landing she shifts to unsecure her bag so it can be moved, unbuckling herself at the same time. She eye rolls at the radio. «Yes, I'm wearing thermal underwear and wool socks over my cotton socks this time. Thank you.» Mahasti quips over the radio. She lets out a sigh "For those of you unaware, I was stuck on Picon in January with just a bikini. I lost nearly everything due to being on vacation." she informs towards those in the raptor with her, waiting for the door to get opened since she's in the far back and all.

The bikini comment gets a leering glance from Bennett's backseater, 'Slider' as he's known over the radio. The pilot herself is grinning slightly as she hits the hatch button and reaches for her sidearm, but declines to comment directly. "We will hold tight here for all y'all until and unless I hear otherwise," she tells Mahasti— as the ranking crewperson on her bus.

Once they are down, Kalum opens the hatch on Bennett's Raptor, and hopes out bringing his rifle up to scan the area. He doesn't move far from the Raptor however, allowing the Marines to do their job, and secure the area. «Rescue-1 here, over. Arf. Arf. Arf.» Kalum says into his comms gear. He glances back toward Carmine, and takes a knee on the wing. "Have at them, Sarge."

NPCS: Shortly after the pair of Raptor's land, the townsfolk of Reeding begin to appear. They poke their heads out of various buildings, and then start towards the ships. Their faces are grim, their clothes dirty, and most are armed. A few more townsfolk come out of the Temple near to the Raptors, and are led by a heavy set man in his late forties with a thick gray beard. "Which one of you is Doctor Nadir?" He calls out to the Colonials.

MAIA: "Bad luck, Sir," Reed calls back to Zhen. "Never every say that to a Marine. Dooms you to the worse that can be tossed out at you." His words are spoken as if they are fact, for him it probably is. When Maia tells them the time to land, he sits up a bit more, checks his weapon, works his jaw with in the helmet strap. As the Raptor hits the turbulence, he smiles as his tight straps hold him in position. "Game time," he mutters. One hand is set right over the release button of the straps, Force of habit, time to get off the bus and sometimes you have to get off in a hurry. Once the Raptor is down and the hatch is open, Reed it out the door. His rifle is brought up to his shoulder and he sweeps the area before him.

(MAIA) "Even I know better than to say that 'This is going to be easy', and I don't get to leave the Orion all that much for a lot of really good reasons. Every time I do I get shot," Nadir remarks in return to zhen before the Raptor begins to drop through the altitude. Nadir decides that talking is a bad idea, decides that not throwing up is a much better idea, and focus on that until the Raptor is actually on the ground again. Blessed happy ground. She's a little (lot) green around the edges by the time they're actually there and she's on her feet as soon as possible, after unbuckling and unclasping everything holding her in the seat (if there'd been a extra rope to wrap around she'd have done that too) and is checking over the cargo once she's on her feet, making sure nothing broke in transit. The fresh, cold, air rushing in through the hatch is greatly appreciated, helps keep her from throwing up, at the very least.

GROUND: Mahasti is out of the raptor as soon as humanly possible. She tucks her sonogram machine back in her bag, her bare fingers a bit pink «Did anyone remember to force Dr. Nadir to take her dramamine?» she asks over the radio, watching the people "Don't crowd please, Doctor Nadir might be a little airsick and crowding her will make it worse." she half asks, half warns towards the town people in a friendly fashion, although she's clearly identified - by her pins and whatnot as a doctor. She adjusts her pack, looking just slightly weary of the crowd. She has a good presence for such a small person even in a crowd when she needs to make it pop up.

(MAIA/GROUND) Mallas gives Reed a quick nod while he's checking over his rifle. "Gotta have an extra pair of socks just to keep your balls from feezing off." He rocks with the turbulence that buffets the Raptor, then steadies and keys his mic to acknowledge Carmine's order and check in. «Dog three.» That done, he hoists his pack and slides it on, gripping his rifle and ready to roll out as soon as they touch down. And being the grunt-up-front, Mallas assumes he's going to be first out the door, as he's on his feet and headed that way as soon as the hatch is cracked.

AIR: Bennett unbuckles her harness, checks the clip on her sidearm, and keeps half an eye on the goings-on outside in between monitoring DRADIS. These townspeople don't look awfully happy, and they've a couple of unarmoured medical staff out there after all.

GROUND: Stepping out Behind Kalum, Carmine moves with the LMG shouldered Moving out of the way of the exit, he Moves with Mahasti Speaking into his own Comms «Dog 2 and 3 Keep th civvies away from the Raptors. But be polite. Just don't want them getting close enough to get ideas on helping themselves to the medical kits.»

AIR: Maia does pretty much the same as Bennett, but she stands at her door gun, prepared to offer assistance if possible, that way. She watches the others, but doesn't help unload her own bird. She's not leaving it..

GROUND: Zhen goes to help once everyone's all landed and getting ready to get off the birds, happy to help out with whatever needs offloaded, be it people not used to disembarking from a Raptor or getting whatever gear's needed to be relocated. She doesn't stray too far, or at least that's the plan, not wanting to leave Maia without an ECO if they are sudenly in need to get the hell out of there quickly.

GROND: «Dog 2 clear» comes over the comms as Reed begins to lower his weapon slightly. The butt of it still rests at his shoulder so just the barrel is lowered. It'd look bad to shoot those you are coming to help. He isn't here to chat with the towns folk though, so he moves around to make sure of the security of the Raptor. He does have a smirk from the two socks comment by Mallas, made even more so as a cold blast of wind hits him.

(GROUND) With Mallas and Reed already out of the Raptor, Nadir has moved around the precious cargo enough so that when the marines step out she's a few paces behind but steps to the side of the Raptor and then moves behind it so that no one actually has to see her getting sick into the snow. She can't NOT be sick, dramamine is excellent but crosswind is crosswind and a rocky descent just doesn't work for Nadir's motion sick joy. She rinses her mouth out with water from the canteen she's carrying, scoops up a handful of snow - clean snow - off of the ground and uses it to cool off even more before going for her emergency reserve of breath mints and only walks back around the Raptor once she's settled her stomach again.

NPCS: The townsfolk don't listen to the advice about crowding, and move closer to the Raptor's — each trying to look inside to see what the Colonials have brought. "Did you bring food?" A woman asks. "What about medicine?" A man asks. "Cold weather clothes?" An old woman asks. "Porn?" A young man asks hopefully, which garners some laughs from the desperate people. The heavy-set bearded man, Doctor Kelbly, continues to approach the Raptor. "Doctor Nadir? Which one of you is Doctor Nadir?" He asks, looking right at Mahasti. "You doctor Nadir?"

As the Marines disembark, the Pararescue Jumper slinks back into the Raptor, and drifts up to the front where Bennett is sitting. "These look like desperate folks, Captain…" Kalum says quietly, resting a hand on Bennett's shoulder. "If they rush the Raptor, just shut the hatch, and I'll deal with anyone that's come inside." He says softly, having worked in enough disaster zones.

(GROUND) Looking around, Mallas takes in the sights of the war-torn mining settlement and doesn't look impressed. He holds his rifle across his chest, and at first grinning at the approaching townsfolk. That is until he gets the word to keep them back, and he sees how many of them their are. And the number of guns in the crowd. The young Private shoots an uneasy glance around to see where the other Marines are positioned. "Yeah, the Doctor's coming," he tells the people in front of him. "All we got is medical stuff, so just sit tight."

GROUND «Copy that» she offers over the radio, moving to offer her hand, she pauses "If I can manage, in January, in a bikini, you marines can handle a little cold." she mumbles, blinking "I'm Lieutenant Nasreen MD, please back up." The tone is not as polite, but still friendly. "Please do not crowd me, I am very small and people as a group are very large." she offers, calmly. She moves towards Sam, keeping a marine between herself and the crowd.

GROUND: Moving with Mahasti as her impromptuy Shield, Carmine Keeps his LMG Across his Chest, using it as a sort of Barricade between himself and the Townspeople. Stepping forward towards the crowd slightly, forcing a few of them back a step simply by being in their space, he does a quick check to ensure 2 and 3 are in position as well «Dog 2, Cover Raptor 1, Dog 3 Stay with Raptor 2 for the moment…just be where you can block the door if necessary.»

GROUND: The rush of people has Zhen putting a hand to her hip so she can secure the pistol at that side of her body along with be at the ready in case this all turns into a bum rush for the supplies. No, she is not a Marine and it really is not her job to protect the doctors, but it's instinctive to want to help that way too.

(Ground) Another mouth full of water to help with her queasy stomach before Nadir moves forward to join Mahasti, "We're both doctors," she addresses the crowd, "and we have a number of medical supplies and other necessities on hand." She settles focus on the one who keeps asking for her by name, "I'm Nadir. Patient status and vitals? We," she includes Mahasti in her gesture, "came all this way to help in any way that we can," not pushing past the Marine's either, all these humans and their colonies of germs, bacteria and colds that are just waiting to colonize further.

GROUND: Reed eyes the encroaching crowd, cuts his eyes to Mallas who gets a shrug. He holds up a hand "Everyone, please stay back," comes his booming voice "The Raptor is still hot and we don't want anyone getting hurt." As he moves he steps in, yea, wet snow. He looks down, Frak! Then shoots a look at Nadir. Shakes his head and moves his foot, scrapping it in the fresh snow as he does. «Dog 2 copies» He says into his radio. And as ordered he moves to the hatch way, the rifle, unlike his fellow Marines is not held across his chest but the butt still at his shoulder though the barrel is still held downwards.

Bennett smiles slightly as Kalum speaks to her, eyes still on the scene outside her hatch. "I have been in a fair few ugly situations down on Tauron, so do not worry about me." Louder, so that her voice reaches the townspeople beginning to encroach on her bus's personal space, so to speak, "Please stay back from the raptor. Our medical staff is there and there-" Nadir and Nasreen are indicated. "-and will be processing patients for triage. We are armed and will defend the vehicles and their contents if necessary." There is little trace of her usual warmth; her blue eyes are cool and her body is tense.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, please be prepared to dustoff if necessary. I do not like how this is going."

NPCS: There is a groan from the young man when he realizes there is no porn coming, and a few of the townsfolk complain about the lack of food. Most seem happy to hear there are medical supplies on board, and begin to back off — noticing the demeanor of the Colonial Military forces. "Glad you could come on such short notice. I'm Doctor Kelbly… Veterinarian." Kelbly says, approaching Samtara now, and offering her a paw of a hand. He then turns to Mahasti, and smiles as well. "Two doctors is more then I had hoped for. Thank you for coming as well Doctor Nasreen." He says appreciatively. "We've got several patients that I think need lifted out of here. One was attacked by a bear two days back, and has serious wounds and possible internal bleeding. The other was shot by the cylons a week or so ago, but the wound has become infected. Without anitbiotics, there is nothing I can do for the man. There are others who are having issues with their diabetes, some nasty coughs and colds… You name it… We got it…" The Vet starts to lead the doctors through the crowd towards the nearby temple. The crowd politely parts ways.

Hearing the com, Maia frowns, abandoning the door gun and taking her seat back at her controls and straps herself in. She keeps a wary eye on the happenings, but she's preparing to be able to take off at short notice, speaking back into the com.

GROUND: Nadir's gloved hand meets that of Dr. Kelbly, "Sorry it took so long, we know that medical personnel on the ground have been using everything - and the kitchen sink - to treat every kind of wound in the book since the start of the war. We brought as much as each raptor could hold." She releases Kelbly's huge paw of a hand so that Mahasti can get a turn, "Dr. Nasreen is a certified ultrasound tech as well, she's got a portable unit with her so if you have any pregnant - potentially pregnant as well - civilians we need to check out while we're here just have them queue up," she suggests as Kelbly starts leading them toward the temple. "When was the last sighting of Cylons in area? Skinned, metal and otherwise?" she asks, hoping to glean some useful data while walking, color Sam paranoid.

[Into the Wireless] Maia says, "Butch, Centerfold. Copy, strapped in and ready to go."

GROUND Mahasti smiles, serenely "Did you keep charts?" she asks, digging into her bag to take out her exam gloves and snaps them on, looking at Samtara «Bear Attack, Cylon shooting victims.» she pauses "Alright. Captain, would you like to take the bear attack and I'll look at the gunshot? The Bear attack won't need any scans, afterall." she offers, chipperly. She keeps her gun holstered but seems to be trying to read the vet's body language. She touches the vet's hand, instead of shaking it cupping it with both of hers for a short moment and bowing her head.

AIR: "I figured," Kalum replies quietly, pulling down his scarf. "I just wanted to make sure we had a plan incase this went south." The Pararescue Jumper says to Bennett. With that said, he slides into the back of Raptor, and takes a knee inside of the hatch for cover.

GROUND: Zhen's unease grows and soon she's climbing back itnto the Raptor as well, deciding now is more than the perfect time to let the Marines handle crowd control. "Going to be a cluster frak if they don't keep on top of it," she announces to Centerfold, her flight harness left undone for now.

GROUND: As the Doctors begin to leave, Carmine keys his mike «Dog 2 and 3 Hold positions, Dog 2 you're Eyes up over here. I'll be Overwatch to the Docs.»

Harness buckled up in case they have to take off again imminently, Bennett twists her head around to cast another quick glance Kalum's way. "Seems like things are simmering down. I would rather they were not armed, but.." Her gloved fingers skim over the controls as she faces forward once more, going through sensor readouts. "Viper jocks may fly by the seats of their pants, but a bus driver does not go anywhere without a plan," she adds with a bemused curve of her lips. Then, "Warm enough back there?"

NPCS: The Vet leads the Doctors into the Temple, which is dark save for a multitude of candles on the altar, and several smokey fires burning in barrels near to open windows. The smell inside of the Temple is one of smokey sickness. Townsfolk sit along the walls, most of them coughing, and here many of the children can be found — nestled up against mothers and fathers. Everyone looks like they are starving. All look miserable. Most look hopeful when they see the Colonials enter the building. "Pregnancy I can handle. For the most part all I have to do is catch, and sometimes use the salad spoons. I can sew folks up pretty good too." Doctor Kelbly says as he trundles towards the front of the temple. "This bear attack is beyond me. An infection is easy with the right medicine."

(GROUND) Mallas looks around with great relief when the crowd starts to calm down. Looks like they won't be shooting any other humans, yet. And then he hears the Staff Sergeant's voice over the wireless, letting him know he'll be babysitting someone's Raptor instead of going inside where it's warm(er). "Frak." With a sigh the Private keys his comms. «Three copies.» He ambles over to his assigned bus, loitering out front and looking around, his breath fogging the air in front of him.

GROUND: The crowd seems to not be so crowding. So Reed shifts his attention beyond them, to the town and where ever else he can scan. Where the next threat could come from. He hasn't relaxed his rifle, training, habit, or he just likes it there. He looks over to Mallas, points to a different direction than what he is looking, out of the immediate area, and calls out "Keep to your sector." Quick glances are given to the Doctors as hey go into the Temple, his lips purse a bit, obviously not liking loosing sight of them, not till he is fully certain the area is secure. Besides, they are already jinxed, easy mission.

Carmine pages Mallas and Reed: Personally would have sat inside the Raptors and guarded the door from the inside. Better cover and Warmer.

GROUND: Nadir's steps slow, noticeably, the minute they step into the temple. The interior of the temple is everything she doesn't LIKE about temples. Smoky. Smelly. Crowded. Crawling with bacteria and germs, countless layers of seething swarming creeping combinations of all of the above. And that's before getting to the scent of the huddle masses yearning to breath free .. er.. fresh air, that is. The sight of so many people in one room has her reaching for one of those half-masks that she always carries and offers one to Mahasti as she fits hers into place. No reason to be bloody stupid about this, germ factory not invited to return home to Orion. "Show me where your worst patients are then and we'll work in reverse order. What's your plan for getting these people through the winter? They're going to starve if more provisions aren't acquired."

Mallas pages Carmine and Reed: True. But we can get shot at in there as easily. :)

AIR: Kalum glances away from the hatch back towards Bennett. "Frankly, that's why I've always loved Raptor Pilots. They have some of the most skilled pilots, their ECOs are some of the smartest sailors I know, and they generally avoid being too cocky because they fly a bus. That bus is also a giant ass target, which makes Raptor Jocks and Backseaters some of the bravest folks I know too." The Petty Officer says sincerely. "Staying pretty warm. You could always turn the air in the back to passenger control." He jokes.

TEMPLEOFDOOM: Mahasti looks tense, graciously taking the mask to put it on. She eyes the doctor "… Don't do that." she half scolds. She pauses "Gunshot victim?" she asks the vet. She touches her neck a little, changing gloves paranoidly. «Begining medical care. Keep us posted, the smoke is very thick in here.» she whispers over the radio. Afterall, the marines need to know whats up. She seems to keep an eye on Sam "I'm not liking these conditions, the smoke and heat must have made it very hard for you to diagnose your patients and see what you are doing." she offers to the vet. Sam is nodded at and she seems to be thinking, gears turning.

GROUND: After checking the inside of the temple quickly, Carmine moves to take up Position just inside the main entrance of the place. Far enough back that he's half hidden in the shadows as he takes up a covered position next to a pillar, resting the LMG on a convenient piece of stonework, He's far enough outside though to be able to spot Hostiles. Absently reaching into a pocket for a plug of tobacco, he bites a small piece off, rolls it in his jaw and pockets the rest, sighing contentedly before he keys his mic once more. «Dog 6 in position on overwatch.»

AIR: «Copy that, Nasreen» comes a warm, familiar voice over the radio. «We are holding for your return.» Thumb off the radio, she gives a soft, husky laugh into her helmet when the parajumper speaks. "Flattery will get you nowhere, Kalum," she murmurs, rubbing her hands together a few times. It's chilly, even inside her flight suit. "There is an emergency blanket in the third compartment on your left, however, if you require it." Her helmeted head settles back against her headrest, eyes flicking to the sensors. Again.

AIR: «Copy that, Nasreen» comes a warm, familiar voice over the radio. «We are holding for your return.» Thumb off the radio, Bennett gives a soft, husky laugh into her helmet when the parajumper speaks. NPCS: "As for the Cylons? I think we cleared the last of them out of the mines a week or two ago. Haven't heard from them in a while." The Vet says quietly, as he shows Samtara and Mahasti up to the front of the temple. The two worst patients are laying right infront of the altar, which burns with a hundred candles. The man who was attacked by a bear is wrapped in bandages, many of which are starting to bleed through, and a very simple IV is hooked into his arm. Next to him lays the man who was shot, his leg bandaged, and smelling heavily of infection. His brow gleams with sweat, even as he shivers. "Here are our two patients…" He trails off as the temples bells start ringing.

DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. The bells peel out a warning from the steeple, and one of the townsfolk leans out to shout down to the Marines. "Centurions coming out of the mines to the northeast." The man points off into the distance, and then screams. Their is a roar of a small rocket, and then an RPG slams into the bell tower with a thunderous explosion — sending debris raining down towards those gatherd below! One chuch of the stone tower lands squarely on a man, and crushes him to the ground — killing him instantly.

GROUND: Reed looks over to Mallas shaking his head "I don't like them going in there with no one covering them." Color him paranoid, but it keeps him alive. He begins to use the 4X scope as he scans the outlying area. "You see anything?" he asks Mallas. Frak! «All Units, All Units, we have canners, Northeast.» He swings his rifle in that direction, barely ducking as debris from the explosion rains down.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Butch to all units, we have incoming. I repeat, we have incoming. I have visual on an RPG that has hit the temple's bell tower."

AIR: The ringing of the bells gets Zhen to turn around in her seat quickly and she grimaces, that getting her to worry. Thankfully she didn't hear the news the Marines were given otherwise she might just soil her flightsuit. "What's goi…." And then Reed makes his announcement. Yes, it is most definitely flightsuit soiling time. "Frak!" Okay. The others were right. Never say anything positive before a mission. As of now, optimism can go and get fraked in the godsdammed ear.

NPCS: Just marching into view from around the corner of a building along the main highway are three centurions, which turn in perfect formation, and start towards the temple. None of those three have an RPG, which means there are more somewhere. Their gun arms turn towards the Marines and Raptors sitting out in front of the temple.

TEMPLE: Nadir is already taking a knee beside the two worst patients, sniffing at the air above both - the scent of gangrene is unforgettable to any physician who's ever encountered it, and she knows what she's looking for as her hands are starting to check the bandages. "Gangrene -" is as far as she gets aloud, studying the face of the man with the gunshot wounds, before her head tilts back abruptly and the chamber, that is the interior of the temple, begins to resonate with the sound of the bells in the tower sounding off. "What in the name of -" she's just a wonder of half spoken sentences before the roar of sound is followed by the shuddering feel as the building SHIMMIES as a result of the impact. She ducks forward instinctively, protecting the body of the gunshot patient with her own, her arms crossed over the back of her neck, to help shield herself from the debris that comes crashing downward.

(GROUND) Mallas responds to Reed's instructions with a 'yeah, yeah' sort of look, but does as he's told, shifting his attention over towards the other side of the LZ. The Corporal's dislike of the situation is met with a fatalistic shrug from the Private, and then a terse "Nothing" to confirm there's nothing unusual out there. Mallas' boots crunch over the raptor-blown snow still on the ground, and he looks up towards the looming clouds, sensing more in the air. "Shouldna brought another pair of extra socks…" This thought is interrupted by the ringing of the town bells, a sound that causes Mallas to grit his teeth. "Awww, mother frakking Godsdamn some of a bitch," he grouses, seconds before the sound of the explosion. The Private breaks for the nearest cover.

GROUND : Mahasti looks ALARMED to say the least. She takes a moment "Sam. Run or deal with this?" she asks, covering her head and staying crouch. Her expression is uncomfortable. "Whatever you say, I'll follow." she offers, voice very soft. She isn't in the mood to sass. She seems worried about the people, more so than herself. Her hand however is on her sidearm.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, Rainbow, are you picking up any additional cylon signatures? Raiders, anything?"

TEMPLE: The already smoke clogged air inside the temple is now equally full of cries of fear, pain, confusion, a babble of voices all of which utterly pale in comparison to the sound of the building making another terribly ominous sound of 'settling' as dust swirls through the air and cold wind is bellowed through the front doors - one of which hangs askew from the hinges. Sam is straightening, coughing behind her mask, and gets a good look into the face of the man she'd just tried to protect. . and discovers that a heavy piece of rock that had rebounded off of her helmet had crushed the left side of the man's head into a messy pulp. "For the love of logic," she breathes, adrenaline spiking to send a chill down her spine,t hat bitter taste into her mouth as she turns toward Mahasti and Kelbly. "We can't run these people out of here, they'll be cut down in the cross fire. We can't load them into the Raptor's, the supplies are in there - we'll never get off the ground." She hits the comm unit in her helmet, «"Lt. Kane, can you and Captain St. Clair lift off?» She pauses only a moment before adding: «"We can't get these civilians out of here without killing them all, and if the Raptor's stay parked as is they're sitting ducks for what ever weapons the Cylon's are carrying.»

[Into the Wireless] Zhen says, "Butch, Rainbow. We got approaching enemy units on sensors but nothing's coming up on the DRADIS."

GROUND: Reed doesn't have a lot of time to be fancy, and where is there for him to hide? So he drops to a knee, his rifle already up. He sights in on the first canner. The dust from the explosion still flying in the air. «Three Canners infront of the temple. None seem to have any missle launders. Dog 2 out» And then he pulls the trigger, letting out a three round burst. «Raptors, Raptors, go find who shot that frak'n missle!»

Mahasti stretches herself out, moving to the window to press flat to the wall and look out of the wall. "Recommendation is that we hope to the lords that nobody opens that door and either work now at the best pace we can or take up a defensive stance, Cap." she seems slightly agitated. She watches Samtara. "We have incoming."

[Into the Wireless] Mahasti says, "Patients are weak and building appears to have suffered structural damage."

Mallas runs /towards/ the approaching Centurions, but only far enough to reach the nearest building. There he crouches and leans around the corner, settling his sights on the big, silver robots. Maybe it's because he's usually on the squad light machinegun, or maybe it's a profound tactical decision about trying to gain fire superiority, but Mallas' choice is to flip the rifle to full auto and spread his fire across the approaching Centurions. "Ares give me strength…" he murmurs to himself.

TEMPLE: Nadir drops her hand away from the comm unit and speaks to Mahasti in a quiet voice: "If we try to run for it, we're all going to end up going back to the Orion in body bags or just as tags. If we leave the civilians we're no better than the Cylon's that are killing us like bugs under a boot. We can't leave them. But we can't get these marines or the air crew killed either. Suggestions?" She nods as Mahasti speaks and turns toward Kelbly: "Don't tell me that there is only ONE entrance and or exit to this temple. It'd be one bloody hell of a dumb architect who only put one door on this building," she doesn't swear often but she does so with style, and in that ever-stuffy accent of hers.

AIR: Inside of Bennett's Raptor, Kalum grabs ahold of the HMG, and swings it into position. He then pushes the HMG out of the door as far as he can, and then growls. With the Raptor parked on the ground he can't get a clear shot, and keys is radio.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, please prepare for immediate dustoff and get some eyes for us up in the air. I will signal if we require an ordnance drop. Ground team, I will bring my bus in as close as I can for fire support; once we land, get who you can on board."

TEMPLE Racking the slide on the LMG and checking his feed belt, Carmine grunts, sighting in on one of the Centurions, he opens fire.

[Into the Wireless] Kalum says, "Captain, I have no visuals on the centurions here on the ground."

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Dog 2 copies, Raptor. Just keep those heavies off our asses, roger?"

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Dog, Civilian protection is Priority until they can get to safety. Clear the raptors so they can bring us some rain."

TEMPLE : Mahasti takes a breath "I have a flashlight and water proof matches." she offers to Samtara, talking very softly "I can get through most small openings pretty easily." she offers, voice staying gentle, the people are given a smile, the nearest sheltered gently "Doctor Kelbly, if we can escape, we should do so while we have fire support. We're not going to have any support if we frak around too long." she whispers, softly to the vet.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Copy that, Dog 2."

CYLONS: The first wave of centurions go down easily under a combined hale of fire from the Villagers and the Marines, and their metal corpses clatter to the highway — shaking and shuttering under the combined fire. However, the sound of MANY marching metal feet can still be heard approaching in the distance.

GROUND: The world seems to light up, fire going into the canners and fire coming out of them. Smoke swirls about, the smells of firearms follows again. Reed begins to move towards the canners as he quickly surveys the area, sees nothing, so he keys his radio.

AIR: Hearing the command, Maia speaks inside the Raptor to Zhen. "Looks like we're going up. I'm lifting off." Doing as ordered, they lift off to be the eye in the sky.

[Into the Wireless] Maia says, "Butch, Centerfold. Copy that, lifting off now, will keep you informed."

AIR: The hatch alarm goes off, and Bennett is lifting off before the door's even shut. Snow blows back from her bus's engines as the beast swings back into the air with a howl of thrusters, and she reaches across to switch on the fog lights for a modicum of illumination through the blowing snow. "Small grouping of centurions at three o'clock. Another at seven o'clock, and at six. Bringing us in to engage." The trigger mechanism for the bus's minigun is hauled down, safety unlatched.

AIR: Rainbow nods slowly. "Yeah. Wow. Guess everyone was right…" Shrugging slightly, looks out the windshield of the Raptor first and then the console itself. "Too much excitement. I'm not going to live to see thirty…" The grousing's kept between herself and Maia for now but she won't be able to mask her displeasure when talking to anyone else for long.

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Dog 2 all stations, Dog 2 has a clear area, I have three canners down. Anyone have eyes on any more in the area?"

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Dog 2, Butch. There are three separate groups of centurions moving in on your position from the east and southeast. We are moving to engage."

Mallas fires, spent brass spewing out of his rifle as he traverses across the first three Centurions. And then they're suddenly all on the ground, and the Private just gawks for a second. They dropped them all already? No way. Seeing no more Centurions to shoot at, Mallas looks back to Reed, waiting to see what the Corporal wants to do.

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Dog 2 Dog 3, we have a minute it seems. Get The Civvies back and establish Firing lines off the Temple. Eyes open Fight smart, and remember Fire control."

[Into the Wireless] Maia says, "Flight, Centerfold. I'm staring down about fiften Cylons heading towards you guys, we're going to go and drop one on em."

Quickly checking the top of his head as he feels a round furrow his Helmet, Carmine grins, Spits a mouthful of Brown tobacco juice on the ground beside him, and keys his mic as he scans for new targets.

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Dog 2 copies Butch. Roger that Dog 6. Dog 3, take the south east corner of the temple. Stay frosty, ensure your targets."

[Into the Wireless] Mahasti says, "What was that sound?"

[Into the Wireless] Mallas says, "Dog 3, copy."

TEMPLE: Getting the answers from Kelbly isn't easy, what with all the chaos, but yes there is indeed more than one way to skin a bear. But in this instance the skinning alternatives (i.e. - other ways of leaving the Temple other than being excommunicated) would only open the way to potentially walking into the line of fire. "Alright. Pull everyone away from the walls, away from the windows. Anyone who can fight, be prepared to do so. Everyone who can't or won't, please to stay out of the way," Nadir says, making sure her voice carries. She taps Mahasti on the arm lightly and moves away from the two patients they'd come here specifically to help out. They're going to have to wait. "Any of our marines get wounded pull them inside, slap some first aid on them and get them back into the fight. Stay under cover, don't get shot and don't get dead."

CYLONS: The Centurions continue their march towards the Colonials, and are cut down by the Raptors above in spledid fashion. Unfortunately, one of the Centurions is carrying an RPG, and sights in on Maia and Zhen's Raptor. There is a dull thump, followed by a high pitch roar, and a smoke trail streaks right towards the Raptor — striking it right on the nose. The other centurions turn their guns to the skies, and fire towards the pair of Raptors.

AIR: Raptors are support craft for a reason; they are nowhere near as maneuverable as a viper, and tend to present rather large targets in firefights such as this. Bennett manages to get airborne just as not one, but two sets of centurions begin firing on her bus. She gives no warning of the stickhandling she's about to do: there's a sharp roll to starboard, engines screaming, as artillery rounds skim beneath the raptor's belly and plunge into the treeline. More rounds barely score the ship's flank as they slip past, but do no discernable damage. "Hold on," she murmurs over the intership comm, somewhat belatedly.

Mahasti cracks her neck, taking off her supply pack before digging out her medical hip sash. "Let me get this straight, you want me to run outside and drag people who are one hundred and fifty to three hundred percent of my weight?" she asks, curiously, her fingers touching her com thoughtfully "I didn't like that loud noise, it sounded bad. Well, I am fast, small, and low to the ground. Less target for them, right?" she asks, looking anxious "In my big bag, is everything you could need." she tilts, whispering in Sam's ear "If kids start crying, give them the fraking ration bars in my bag, Anything to shut them up." she makes sure only Sam can hear it. She makes a quick sign of faith, moving to give Sam a salute - something she never does.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, are you still able to fly? It looks like you took some pretty bad hits, there. Sing out, please."

GROUND: Reed was on the move as he used his radio. He goes to a vantage point behind an old mining cart. One wheel is off which gives him a better sight line. His weapon training, scanning to the east. One eye looking through the scope on his rifle, the other is open watching the big picture. He is able to spot the RPG streaking up and then meeting the Raptor "Frak!" He yells out and keys his radio.

(GROUND) Mallas barks into the comms to acknowled his orders, and then he takes off for the southeast corner of the temple, double-time. If any unarmed civilians are foolish enough to still be outside they are told to get indoors, while any armed civies he passes near get a wave from Mallas. "Follow me!" The Private giving orders. Still, things are going well. Right up until Maia's Raptor is hit bad. "Man, not my ride…"

GROUND: Reed was on the move as he used his radio. He goes to a vantage point behind an old mining cart. One wheel is off which gives him a better sight line. His weapon training, scanning to the east. One eye looking through the scope on his rifle, the other is open watching the big picture. He keys his radio as he does.

TEMPLE: Sam looks at Mahasti, aghast, "Absolutely not, that's not at all what I mean," she says rather adamantly.

AIR: The Raptor Centerfold and Rainbow is in is hit and it's now officially a mess. That it hasn't crashed to the ground in a fiery ball of flamey hot stuff is a testiment to just how good Colonial engineering really is. Or maybe they just got lucky, who can say? Zhen grits her teeth and braces, her body shaking thanks to how doing so puts that much tension along her arms and back.

AIR: Maia isn't so lucky with her maneuverability and the smoke trails streaking towards her find their mark hitting her Raptor causing it to falter mid-air, almost stalling out before it sputters to life again. The condition of the bird is no longer spaceworthy and as she manages to get it corrected and stay in the air, she looks back with a grim expression. "We're going in for the rest. You good Rainbow?"

[Into the Wireless] Zhen says, "Butch, Rainbow. I got one of those groups targeted and am going to try to bomb the ever living frak out of those assholes."

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "All Dogs, report status. Dog 3 do you have eyes on those Raptors?""

Zhen nods. "Yeah. I'm fine, Centerfold. Don't know how but yeah…"

AIR: Kalum holds the heavy machine gun tight against his chest, and leans out to fire into the oncoming Centurions. The gun kicks mightly, and burning hot brass shells fall out onto the ground. Fire from his gun lances into the Centurions, and knocking several town. As the Raptor tilts over, the Petty Officer is thankful for the fact that he strapped himself in. He doesn't cry out in suprise, but just keeps firing — no matter what angle the Raptor is at.

TEMPLE: Sam rubs the back of one gloved hand against her forehead, "I need coffee. Desperately." She says that pretty loud and clear. "IF there's wounded they need to make it far enough for us to be able to grab then and bring them inside. Either one of us dead means none of them get medical care immediately. We need to be alive, they need to be alive," she makes this very clear as she reaches for the damned comm button.

[Into the Wireless] Samtara says, "Nasreen and I will be holding position just inside the doors of the temple. Call out position if any of you are wounded so we know who needs assistance. Let us know if you can't get to the doors of the temple."

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Stay back some Doc, I'm just outside and to the side of the door. When the big Dog starts to bark, it's likely to get some attention. All clear and ready Dog 2"

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, this is Butch. I repeat, sing out. What is your status?"

TEMPLE: Mahasti takes a moment and a deep breath, into her bag to take out a thermos. She without even so much as a flinch hands it to Sam. She eyes some of the townsfolk before moving to one of the flat table like surfaces, emptying it respectful of the momentos on it, but in a hurry, moving it slightly so its away from the damn wall, taking her flask as soon as possible to pour alcohol over the suface and wipe it clean. She isn't screwing around, She's setting up. "Someone get me a chair." she half orders, takingout her medical tools, tossing the disposeable rag on the floor out of her way with her other hand, mm sani-wrapped. She smiles at Sam "This should help." She tucks the flask in the back pocket of her medic uniform carefully.

<FS3> Maia rolls Piloting -4: Good Success.

[Into the Wireless] Maia says, "But…. ….enterfol.. opy. *static takes over most of the call* ..shaky but holding on."

GROUND: Reed spots one of the canner's with is scope. It's steadily filling his scope. His thumb flips the switch to full autto. He steadies the weapon but then he catches movement out of the corner of his eye. What the….He sets his jaw tight, makes a decision and starts moving towards the canners with his rifle trained on one. Yea, that's close enough and he squeezes the triggler.

[Into the Wireless] Mallas says, "Two, Three. Both busses are shooting it out with Canners I can't see. Frakload of tracer going back and forth. Must be a lot of them … wait … Beaucoup Canners incoming.""

TEMPLE: Seeing the Centurions coming into range, Carmine keys his Mic once more then Opens fire letting the LMG speak.

TEMPLE: "Thank you," Sam says quietly, though rather fervently and in a tone of deep and profound appreciation, as she accepts the thermos of coffee and twists the top off so that she can pour some of it into the cap. Her hands, to be noted, aren't shaking. Not even a little. She's a surgeon. Now. If she'd been sneezed on, there'd have been some shaking. She takes a slow, careful, drink of the contents, starting to top off her caffeine reserves with that first drink. She carries the thermos over to the table that Mahasti is setting up on, shrugs out of her vest as well and sets the thermos and cup on the next nearest table, drags over one chair then the other. "Improvised operating theatre. Check. Inadequate lighting. Check. Germ filled interior. Check. Lack of anything resembling a system in place to sedate our patients? Check. Medical supplies on the Raptors and only what we have on hand? Check. Oh, and we have coffee, thanks to you," she lifts the cup slightly and pours more into the thermos before offering the thermos back to Mahasti and shaking out a container of caffeine pills and offers them to Mahasti after taking a pair for herself.

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, "Sighting Confirmed Dog 3. Dog 2 Maintain cover!"

CYLONS: 20mm Minigun fire, .50 cal HMG fire, and finally bombs rain down into the approaching Centurions. Most are torn to pieces, but some continue on. The ones that do continue to advance are a bit battered by the amount of fire the Raptors have hurled in their direction, and struggle up the street towards the Marines. As they move into range, they begin to lay down withering fire against the Marines. Some of the remaining Centurions fire up towards the Raptors circling above.

AIR: Another flurry of rounds ping off Bennett's raptor, one of them slicing through the ECM paneling and triggering an electrical short that arcs from the console with a FZZZT before setting off an alarm. Her backseater slaps it off and continues his work with the targeting sensors. Saint Clair, meanwhile, is busy missing her target by a mile as the shots on her bus knock off her aim. She hisses a soft curse, and repositions the minigun's triggering mechanism to try again.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Copy, Centerfold. We will cover you."

Mallas takes a knee beside the temple, relying on the home of the Gods to protect him from harm. He setttles his sights onto one of the approaching Centurions and flicks the select to burst fire. Time to go to work again.

AIR: Several more Centurions try and take out the Raptor, the armor on the craft getting ripped up, taking the brunt of the damage. Right now it's shaking heavily, hard to control with all the damage to the cockpit there are systems shorting out, sparks flying from the control panels and emergency lights flashing. "We got one more shot at this, Rainbow. You in?"

AIR: Zhen is unable to get a good reading on the Centurion below them thanks to how everything is on the fritz. "Hey, Centerfold, I think we might need to get this bitch landed but see if you can't get one more pass over them, first." Will be interesting to see if she can actually hit those tinners again.

TEMPLE: Mahasti takes out her supplies, moving a pew between the wall and the 'surgical theater. "Flashlight and more supplies in my bag." She actually looks just a bit paranoid. "There is surgical tape, just tape the flashlight to your helmet." she offers to Sam. "You have a flashlight in your bag, mini 9 LED its a little bigger than a screwdriver handle in the bottom. A-" And theres the shrieky sound and a stumble before the little redhead is on the ground and likely bleeding copiously.

TEMPLE catching a round to the chest, Carmine Grunts as the wind is knocked out of him. Swallowing his Tobacco in the process, he snarls and pulls the trigger again

<FS3> Maia rolls Piloting -5: Good Success.

AIR: Bennett's raptor pivots upon a dime, guns coming to bear on yet another grouping of centurions moving in on the colonials. She depresses the trigger once her sights line up, but misses once again due to having to juke out of the way of incoming fire. Her gloved hand releases the trigger, fingers curling into her palm and spreading out again a few times before reclaiming their position. "Third time's the charm," she murmurs to herself.

GROUND: Reed's target goes down, he takes a knee shifting targets to the next that pops in his sights. Things are happening to fast now, no time for radios though he does hear them. As he gets satisfied with the aim, he squeezes the trigger. A three round burst.

Bennett calls over her shoulder, "Think you can get a few shots off at one of those centurions down there? I will try to line you up."

AIR: Still airborne, Maia is determined to assist those on the ground by trying to take out the Centurions before they can ever reach the group. "I've still got a hold on it, Rainbow you ready to keep trying or want me to take you down?"

TEMPLE: Sam is reaching into one of the 101 pockets of her vest, "These vests must be designed by marine's," she is muttering. "They have a pocket for everything. I'm convinced there's a numbered system that they use to determine what goes where and in what order things get squared away. They touch everything, after all, which is why all of their attire has all those pockets and loops, they're always picking up stuff and carrying it around - -" she narrows her eyes at Mahasti as her friend makes that shrieky sound and stumbles back before hitting the deck in a heap. "Unacceptable," her tone of voice suddenly flat and just a shade angry as she takes a knee beside her best friend and starts checking her over, "You have a helmet on but not adequate body armor, this isn't acceptable," already gloved she's looking for the source of the bleeding as she's muttering.

AIR: The ECO gets out of her seat and, once a bit of smoke is cleared, notices that the last group of centurion they were trying to take out has been properly dealt with, leaving those left the ones who are being engaged by the Marines. "Can't risk it. Think it's your turn now, Centerfold."

AIR: As the Raptor circles around for another pass, Kalum keeps an eye on what is happening by the Temple — bringing the HMG around into position. He sights down the barrel towards the Centurions closing in on the Marines, and lets loose with a barrage of fire. The .50 cal thuds heavily, and bright tracer rounds are sent downwards.

[Into the Wireless] Kalum says, "Rescue-1, Dog: Stay put. Laying heavy fire down outside the temple. Don't want to catch you on accident."

Through some fancy flying Maia manages to keep the Raptor in the air. However, a fire has started in the co-pilot console in the cockpit, and smoke begins to fill the cabin once more.

TEMPLE: Dazedly and babbling incoherently, somehow the woman pushes herself up to a seated position, moving her hair band under her helmet to point at her head. "NON." she is out of it but takes Sam's hand from her, very awkwardly putting it near her head. Her eyes have that 'concussion fresh' look to them "Blood." She takes a breath and winces sharply, moving Sam's hand towards that injury. She seems to be having trouble with words but know enough to touch where she thinks her radio is, this takes two or three tries. Poor gal bleeds like a stuck pig.

[Into the Wireless] Mahasti says, "je saigne. Non.. bleed. bleeding lots."

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Dog 2, Rescue-1, Roger that. All Dogs, report status."

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "All units, this is Butch. I see a few stragglers still, but no other additional units moving in at present. What is the situation down there?"

TEMPLE: "Better helmets, that's next on my list," Sam says as she carefully explores Mahasti's head wound. "You have a concussion, and you know head wounds bleed profusely, they always do," she reminds Mahasti as she presses a folded handful of bandages to the wound that's doing it's level best to bleed like a leaky sieve. "Let it bleed and flush some of the debris out of it," she is saying in a low voice, "I'm going to put a bandage over it first until some of the bleeding stops and then we'll talk stitches." She lifts the corner of the bandages to check the scope of the wound, "You're hit in the chest too. One thing at a time."

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, "Still Kicking Dog 2. Butch we're still alive taking fire but holding our own. One of the docs is hit. we need to clean up fast."

GROUND: Reed hits his target but that canner continues moving. "Frak," he mutters, he knows his is low on ammo but he has to take the shot. NO time to reload right now. So with his scope still on the same canner he squeezes the trigger, ready for the recoil and doing his best to control it.

(GROUND) Bullets crack and buzz past Mallas as he blazes away at the two Centurion's he's cursing. Hits spark off one of the Canners but nothing on the other. Then *click*. He's dry. Mallas ducks back behind the building to reload, and he nearly makes to before a Cylon round slams into his helmet with a *spang*. "Ow!" he screams. Maybe the Gods are watching, or maybe it's just lucky he was already ducking back, because that bullet failed to penetrate. Mallas fumbles for a clip as he shakes off the shock of something hitting his helmet.

AIR: Bennett has her finger on the trigger, ready to fire, when the grouping of centurions she was targeting goes up in a splintered spray of metal and shrapnel from the other, flagging raptor. The minigun's firing apparatus is pushed back into its alcove, and she wheels the bus about to swoop in for a landing as near to the temple's mouth as she can get. "Hold on," she tells Kalum and her backseater over her shoulder. "We are going in, and may take a few hits."

CYLONS: The Centurions continue to slowly advance on the temple despite withering fire from above and below. Their armor is dented. Oil flows like blood. Some of their red eyes are shot out. Their gunarms continue to blaze away with a vengeance. They turn their fire away from the Marines now, and begin to focus on the Townsfolk — attempting to kill as many civilians as they can.

AIR: Kalum continues to drop large rounds on the Centurions, but as they start to thin out he lets his fire slacken some — working to pick his shots. Three round bursts are the order of the day. "Can you see the Lieutenant's Raptor," Kalum shouts out to Bennett. "How are they doing?"

AIR: Zhen gets the small fire extingusher out and puts it to good use and it is not too horribly long before the fire's put out. Doesn't really help visibility as there's smoke and the powdery fire retardant lingering int he air but at least the two of them won't be turned into crispy fried critters.

TEMPLE Mahasti taps Sam's arm with her bloody hand "It hurts." she complains, mildly, without much warning she gathers her flask, opening it and taking a small sip "Pain bag." she lets out a frustrated sigh, dumping some on her chest before trying to get the flask to Sam's hands. She isn't doing terrible, all things considered, but she could do better.

AIR: Kalum continues to drop large rounds on the Centurions, but as they start to thin out he lets his fire slacken some — working to pick his shots. Three round bursts are the order of the day. "Can you see the Lieutenant's Raptor," Kalum shouts out to Bennett. "How are they doing?" At the word they are heading in, the Petty Officer pulls the HMG back inside after firing his shots. "Roger Captain…"

Bennett answers the parajumper's query over her shoulder quickly, "I cannot." See the other raptor. "But it cannot be more than a prayer keeping it airborne; if they have to bail out, be prepared to go in after them."

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, Butch. We are skids down momentarily. Are you able to land?"

TEMPLE: Sam gives Mahasti the briefest of looks before she nods, takes the flask from Mahasti, lifts the blood soaked bandages and - shielding Mahasti's eyes with a fresh set - pours the alcohol right over and into the raw flesh turned into bloody furrow by the path of the bullet. Yes, this hurts. On a scale of one to ten the use of exponents is likely required.

GROUND More rounds spatter the air around Carmine as he acquires a new target, feeling the heat buildup off his barrel already, he Grins and fires again, feeling a trickle of blood running bown the inside of his armor. it cant be that bad though. barely a cut.

TEMPLE And the redheaded doctor is looking terribly dizzy from the sharp pain "Vomir." she warns, but its a bit late, poor Sam. Even someone with no training in Leonese can figure out she's probably trying to warn Sam she's going to puke. Although it starts with a curling action, "Turning." she groans, and she lets out the most pathetic of noises, the sound of wretching - right on the bosses' boot laces. There is a bit of incoherent babbling. The vommit is mostly blood from her airways and not so much food remnants thankfully

<FS3> Bennett rolls Pilot -3: Embarassing Failure.

AIR: The Raptor has taken a lot of damage and Maia knows they have to set down, but where? The highway of course, the makeshift landing zone. Only problem is, the radio is out and the engines are failing, working, failing… she calls back to her ECO. "We may have to eject, make your call." Her controls aren't working and they're not going anywhere near the LZ.. they're still over where they shot the last Centurion group and closing towards the ground fast.

<FS3> Bennett rolls Piloting -3: Good Success.

Blinking as his rounds go Wide, Carmine resets his LMG and Fires again

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, "Dog 2. Stay in Cover. widening firing line."

AIR: "Nice shooting," Bennett comments mildly to her door gunner as the raptor skims within fifty feet of the ground, the blowback from the engines dusting the air about them with snow. "Hold on." Thirty feet. Twenty feet. Hey, isn't that— There's a sickening crunch and a high-pitched SKREEEEEEK of metal on metal as the bus slams belly-first into one of the centurions firing on the marines, and shears its head clean off. Bits of the tin soldier buckle and are crushed beneath the bird's weight as it settles in on its skids.

TEMPLE: The warning is good. The warning is TIMELY. She uses one hand to help brace Mahasti and roll her to her side so that she doesn't choke on her own vomit - very bad, aspirating vomit and blood and did she mention the unhappy nature of vomit in general. So she gets it on her shoes. It happens. "Next time you throw up on me, it had better be booze related," she warns as she studies Mahasti's face carefully. "You aren't going to roll back until you're sure you won't throw up again."

CYLONS: Another Centurion falls, but the last two keep firing. The sound of an approaching Raptor engine can be heard, and it glances away at the last moment — looking up towards Bennett's Raptor.

NPCS: Inside of the Temple, rounds begin to pierce through the walls and windows. Glass and Masonry scatter in all directions. At least four civilians are struck, and fall to the ground wounded.

GROUND: Reed's canner goes down. One more round but why push it? He rolls to his back, trying to get as much over behind an old tire and rim. His left hand is reaching for another clip while his right is releasing the nearly empty clip. Dirt where the near misses by him have coated his snow wet gear and face. Once the new clip is gathered, and a slight tap of it on his leg to set the rounds, he slaps it home in his weapon. His movements are one of well practiced, no fear, he knows his fellow Marines will cover him. He hears the radio, looks out over his boots by dropping his chin to his chest and nods to Carmine.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Centerfold, Butch. I repeat, what is your status? Are you able to land, or do you require SAR? Ground units, I have lost contact with raptor eight five six three charlie."

<FS3> Maia rolls Pilot -6: Embarassing Failure.

AIR: There really is no time for them to decide. "Punch out." Zhen straps herself in and makes with the proper procedure for ejection but when it comes time for her chair to be forcably removed from the aircraft nothing happens. Zhen's seat remains bracketed to the Raptor's floor plating. "Shit."

(GROUND) Seeing civvies getting hit by the Centurions, Mallas leans back around the corner and opens fire with a scream of righteous fury. "Die already you Godless metal mother frakkers!" This sort of anger can only mean more full-auto fire is headed towards the Canners. Even the sight of the careening Raptor coming to land right on top of his targets doesn't get his finger off the trigger right away.

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Centerfuld, Dog 2, has Butch gone down? Do you have a location or direction from my pos?"

AIR: Thick black smoke billows from Maia's Raptor, and the Marines can easily see it quickly losing altitude. Flames spout from the engine.

TEMPLE: Mahasti yells, or maybe she didn't mean to "LAY. DOWN." She manages covering her face with both hands. "Chest is worse." she manages "Rib. left side. Under knife scar." she manages towards Sam, watching the room with worry. "Are they alive going?" she asks towards Sam, shivering just a little bit, wheezing just a little bit still. Sure she's stabilized enough for now, but she's still hurting something awful.

AIR: Maia doesn't even hear the com, she's unstrapping and holding on to a rapidly failing aircraft, holding on to things as she moves back to her ECO. She's not leaving her, not a chance. She gets to Zhen and reaches for the seat, trying to tamp down the terror in her eyes. They weren't going to make it! "FRAK FRAK! Take mine!" She orders the ECO, from one Lieutenant.. but they both probably know there isn't time. So she falls onto the nearest seat and straps in, better to go down with her craft and her ECO in case one or the other survive so they can at least be found instead of being thrown free. Frak.

As the Last goes down, Carmine stands quickly. Looking aorund as he checks the feed belt on his weapon, he keys his mic once more as he sticks his head inside the Temple doors.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Dog 2, Butch. I am trying to get a lock on her transponder now. I will give you a location as soon as I can."

TEMPLE: "Shouting," Sam reminds Mahasti as she eases Mahasti back to her side. "Let me find out," she says and rests one hand on Mahasti's shoulder again. She looks up as Carmine sticks his head inside the temple doors. "How bad is it?" she asks Carmine, meaning 'everyone OUTSIDE the temple' at this point.

(GROUND) Some of Mallas' rounds hit the last Centurion, and some glance off the armored Raptor that is suddenly crash-landing in his line of fire. He blinks at that and lets off the trigger. "Frak …" That's not something you see every day. He spends a second looking for more Canners to shoot, then keys his mic.

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Dog 3, Clear your firing lines and get into the temple…docs are going to need extra hands. Dog 2, Second yourself to SAR if they need you. Raptor went down closest to you, I saw the smoke as they trailed in."

[Into the Wireless] Mallas says, "Three, on my way. Raptor down on the road to the southeast. Can't see the other bus anywhere."

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " (Adding) Anyone bleeding?"

TEMPLE : Mahasti knows when she needs to stay the fuck down at least, her eyes closed as she feels for her flask, moving it to press the cold metal against the bandages as she rests, watching the floor and Sam's feet. "Sorry." she mumbles, hand resting on her chest, over the bandages. She seems to be contemplating, or forming words.

GROUND: The firing has stopped, Reed peers around the tire he has taken cover behind and sees no canners. He looks over to Mallas, gives a thumbs up and calls out "Good shooting," and to Carmine "You too Staff." He rolls to his knees, pauses to listen to the radio and nods as he keys it.

AIR —> GROUND: Neither the Pilot or the ECO punch out of the falling Raptor. No seats rocket away skyward to safety followed by parachutes. The Raptor belly flops on the highway. The wings sheer off, the engines fall way, the cockpit window shatters, and the fuel catches on fire, leaving a trail of flames behind the Raptor as it slides for at least fifty yards before stopping. Black acrid smoke raises up into the sky, marking the downed Raptor's position as surely as any transponder would. The cockpit, however, remains for the most part mercifully intact — though flames lick at the body of the ship.

<FS3> Maia rolls Piloting -6: Failure.

[Into the Wireless] Mahasti says, " I am bleeding. Was maybe?"

Looking at Sam, Carmine replies. "One Raptor down. SAR is on it. Light wounds here. Nothing to worry about yet." There's an obvious crease down the middle of his Helmet where an LMG round tested Carmine's luck, and an obvious Dent center mass in his body armor, though the trauma plates seem to have done their job. Hearing Reed, he Flips the man the bird and grins at him over his shoulder.

TEMPLE: Sam is working quietly, listening to comm chatter with only a fraction of her attention as she peels back the bloody layers of clothing. "Hold still," she asks Mahasti, very politely, after all, manners matter, so that she can locate the wound and determine if it's a through-and-through or if there's a bullet to be fished out. "Head wounds bleed rather alarmingly," she says over Mahasti to carmine. "If you're bleeding, let me know now or give a warning before you hit the ground."

[Into the Wireless] Kalum says, "Rescue-1, Dog: Lt. Kane's Raptor is down. Repeat. We have a Raptor down."

AIR: It definitely isn't standard protocol for raptors to land on cylons, but one does what one must in situations such as these. Mallas's rounds mostly slip past the armoured bus, though a few ping harmlessly off its flank as it crushes the target he was aiming for. Hatch open, the pilot keys her radio once more.

(GROUND/TEMPLE) The Corporal's thumbs up gets a quick smirk from Mallas, but The Private is already moving around to enter the Temple. He answers Carmine's wireless call directly, once he trots in through the main doors. "Some of the civvie fighters are down outside, Sarge." He still has his rifle at the low-ready, as if expecting more Centurions to pop up at any second. Maybe he'd prefer that to helping the medics, to judge by the look on his face.

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "Dog two copies, Dog six. Standing, his weapon still fixed on his shoulder. Dog two is good, no leaks. I have sight on the down Raptor, making my way there."

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Ground units, Butch. I am picking up what I believe is raptor eight five six three charlie's transponder. Do we have a way of making contact with CFAB Crandall to request another medevac bus? If not, I would like to dustoff as soon as possible with the worst of the wounded, and make a return trip for the rest."

TEMPLE : Mahasti smiles "Staying still. Open door wide? Fresh bear please." Yes. She used the WRONG word. She seems mostly okay for now, but she's still full of adrenaline, which is merciful in giving big dollips of the STUPID that makes survival possible when injured seriously. "Sorry." she offers at Sam again. Her chest has a bullet lodged in there, its gonna take surgery more than likely and it is probablyy going to scar up. Her head though, mercifully the bullet missed her vital portions of the brain.

GROUND: Reed takes off as his feet moving as fast as he can in the snow dusted road. Soon all he hears, other than the busy radio, is the pounding of his feet upon the frozen round. His weapon has been shifted to cross in front of him and as he runs, snow flies off his feet behind him.

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Butch, Dog 6. Do your Run. give us 5 to help the Docs with Triage. We have one Doc down in here. Get Angel flights in the air as soon as you're in range of Crandall."

AIR: The impact is jarring and it throws Zhen around, the harness being the only thing that keeps her in her seat. By the time the aircraft comes to a halt she's a mess with nasty cuts and gouges that will need stitches and bruises that'll probably benefit from an icepack and all that. A low groan is given once she stops feeling like she's in a rattle, that sound wavering. "Let's… not do that again."

[Into the Wireless] Samtara says, "Dr. Nasreen needs to go with the Raptor. I'll stay behind with the rest of the civilians."

TEMPLE: "What I would give for my surgical suite right now," Sam says after she speaks into her comm. "Beckwith, with your assistance we can get her out of the temple and into the Raptor. If you'll have Kalum ride along with, he can help keep her stable on the way back."

AIR: Kalum hangs out of the side of the Raptor, after having picked up one of the ships extinguishers, as it takes off to head down to find the downed Raptor. The bus streaks briefly across the sky, before coming down slowly a half mile away where the downed Raptor lays burning. Bennett's Raptor swoops in and lands, but not close enough to be caught in a fireball if the other ship explodes. As soon as it touches down, Kalum leaps off the wing, and is sprinting towards the other Raptor — fire exstinguisher in hand.

Looking at Mallas, Carmine nods. "Check the wounded outside for the dying. You done Triage before, 3?" Looking at Sam, Carmine Nods. "Kalum is seeing to the other pilots. He'll be in the air with her though." kneeling down beside the doctors, he nods. "Is she Stable enough for me to piggyback?"

TEMPLE: "No, but between the two of us, we can carry her out," Sam replies then actually laughs, a little unexpected and sort of uneven laugh. "I could carry her myself, to be fair, she's not exactly the tallest is she, sort of shrimp sized in fact," she jokes with Mahasti a little. "But lets not hurt her." She bundles Mahasti back up, having taped a thick fold of bandages over Mahasti's chest wound and bundled her back up with a thermal wrap. "Ready when you are," she adds with another nod to Carmine.

GROUND: Reed still runs, the distance shrinking with each step. He slows once, the rifle brought up as he scans the area on either side of the down Raptor, it's clear, so he picks his pace up once again. Half mile for Reed, easy. It isn't to much longer after that he sees the other Raptor land and the PJ leaping out. It only spurs him on harder so he picks up the pace just that little bit more. He keys his radio, his voice coming over in short words as he runs.

[Into the Wireless] Reed says, "All units at down Raptor, Friendly coming from the North."

GROUND: She's alive.. That's Maia's first thought followed by a groan as she slumps forward. She lifts a hand to the side of her neck and draws it back with bright red blood on it. Frak.. lots of blood. But neck wounds did that, right? Or was that head wounds? "Rainbow?" The name sounds more like a grunt, so unladylike. She hurt everywhere. Blood drips down her neck where her helmet? Her seal what was it? Something cut into her neck. She looks over to Zhen. "You hurt?" Ignoring the pain she feels from neck down, she reaches for the straps to unbuckle, she had to check on Rainbow. Dammit why weren't her fingers working? Oh, the blood wasn't only from her neck, there's cuts and scrapes all over her hands.

(TEMPLE) Mallas stares at the two Doctors, especially the badly wounded one, with a slightly glazed look. Then he blinks and responds to Carmine's orders with another shake of his head. "Aye aye, Sarge. No medic, but guess I'm better than nothing…" The young Private slings his rifle and heads back outside, proceeding to direct any walking wounded inside the Temple, and haul those who are too badly hurt in himself.

TEMPLE : Mahasti has a nasty chestwound and seems to be looking at Sam "Whats the white stuff?" she asks, apparently having at least for now forgotten the joys of snow. The pick up and pressure on her arms causes a squeal of pain. She doesn't appear to like it. "This isn't Hedon." she complains a bit louder than she likely meant to be, but not shouting this time. "I puked on Sammy's boots!" she announces to Carmine in a waaaay too cheerful tone.

<FS3> Kalum rolls Body: Failure.
<FS3> Kalum rolls Reaction -1: Embarassing Failure.
<FS3> Kalum rolls Reaction: Success.
<FS3> Mahasti rolls Reaction -1: Success.
<FS3> Mahasti rolls Body: Embarassing Failure.
<FS3> Maia rolls Body: Success.

TEMPLE: Nodding to Sam, Carmine Grunts. "We've got at least a half mile Run." Pausing, Carmine can;t help but grin. "At least it's not a hot day out though, right?" The man's face was a bit pale. Adrenaline wearing off, and shock from a minor wound beginning to take their toll, Nodding to Mahasti, Carmine mutters. "Just wait,,,she may get a 2 for one deal on it Doc."

Bennett touches her raptor down as close as she dares to the smoking wreckage of the other bus. The hatch was never really closed, so there's nothing preventing Kalum from hopping out before she's fully landed. Harness unbuckled, engines spooled down to idle, she swings out of her seat and helps prepare the back for incoming wounded. Her sidearm is holstered at her thigh, just on the off chance she needs to defend herself.

GROUND: Another groan is issued as Rainbow comes to, her vision clearing from the outer edges of her sight inward. There's a tang that's filling her mouth and she spits, causing a wad of red to be splatted against the inside of her helmet visor. At least the other six colors of the rainbow isn't involved, meaning she didn't puke but instead got rid of a whole lot of blood. "I bit my tongue," she answers Maia shortly. There is then the pause she has to make to give herself a once over twice. There's a lot of blood but the flow is nothing serious but several cuts will scar horribly if they're not sutured. "Can you get out?" Trembling fingers work the release of her harness, it taking a couple tries before she gets that undone and she can get up. The hatch will have to be opened manually via the emergency release.

TEMPLE: "Only? Well then lets get to it," she says to Carmine with another nod then chuckles. "I'm burning the boots, just so you know," she mutters at Mahasti before nodding at Carmine. "Lets move her. Before the damned building falls down on us. This is another reason not to like temples. Shoddy construction."

The Petty Officer leaps up onto what is left of the Raptor, and grabs at the hatch — attempting to pull it open. No dice. He strains and strains and feels very warm. Feels very very warm. Feels very hot. Feels horrifingly hot. He looks down and sees that his pants leg is on fire. He leaps away from the Raptor, cursing loudly, and turns the fire extinguisher on himself. For a moment the PJ disapears into a cloud of white mist.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Dog 6, Butch copies. Performing SAR for our downed aircrew, and we will return for Nasreen before we bug out of here."

[Into the Wireless] Carmine says, " Butch, Dog 6, Negative. Perform SAR we're bringing the Doc to you."

(GROUND) Mallas carries a badly-wounded local into the Temple, pausing as he sees Carmine and Sam getting ready to carrying Mahasti out. "Uhhh … we bugging out, Sarge?" It sounds like Private Mallas is not volunteering to be left behind, if that's the case.

GROUND: Still closing the distance, Reed now can see into the cockpit. Yea, this doesn't look good. This kicks him into another burst of speed, his weapon now held in one hand and the combat sling that is clipped on it. "Friendly, friendly," he yells as he gets closer. He avoided the canners, no need in getting shot by those at the crash site.

<FS3> Kalum rolls Body: Good Success.
<FS3> Kalum rolls Reaction -1: Success.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "Dog 6, Butch. I repeat, I will return for Nasreen. You are not to move her unless absolutely necessary, and I will be back before you can get to me. Please stay where you are."

[Into the Wireless] Samtara says, "We'll have her ready to load onto the Raptor once you land."

Bennett speaks into her radio once more as she drops back into her seat, then after a pause for thought, thumbs it on again.

[Into the Wireless] Bennett says, "SAR team, please expedite if you can."

Nodding to Sam, Carmine nods again as he hears the radio chatter. Looking at Mallas he replies "Medevac of gravely wounded. Angel flights will be back for us. If that one's dying, Put her with the doc if not, make yourself a nest here and keep an eye out for anytyhing theat remotely resembles an angry Toaster."

GROUND: As Reed runs up yelling that he is a friendly, Kalum is still firing the extinguisher to put himself out. Once his pant leg is just smouldering, the PJ moves back to the hatch. He douses it and the nearby fire this time, cursing his earlier rush. "Come on…" Kalum shouts to Reed, grabbing the hatch, and holding it open so that Reed can clamber inside.

GROUND: "Hope it's nothing internal," Maia says quietly. She continues working at the fastening. "I never ride back here.. what's all this frakking mess." The Raptor was on fire.. Suddenly she realizes that little fact. "We gotta get you outta here, Rainbow." Wincing and pushing past the pain, she manages to free herself and stand. Whoa. A sudden wave of dizziness and she has to brace herself, one hand at her neck again. "You feel like anything inside hurts?" She's making her way towards Zhen and the hatch. Can they get out in time? Hearing voices, she feels relief, "Rainbow's hurt," she calls out thickly.

GROUND: Reed gives the PJ a glance "Go, I will hold the door. You know this stuff." After all, Kalum has been trained in the removal of pilots, the gear that is there. He hasn't. So he steps up next to Kalum and with the rifle dangling on it's sling he reaches down and pulls on the door edge, straining with all he has "Come on, I ain't got all day," he says, with a bit of a grin.

Is she? Hurt more than she thinks, that is. Zhen pushes on her stomach a little before she shakes her head. No signs of any abdominal tension or pain outside of a slight ache from being forced against the straps that kept her safe. "Am fine. But neither of us will be if we can't get the frak out of here, Centerfold." A few kicks from inside the wreck might be heard but Zhen probably won't have any real affect on the hatch.

Ground "I don't know who that is." Mahasti complains slightly, "Can I sit down?" she asks, towards Sam and Carmine. She peels her gloves off, dropping them in the snow, apparently she's forgotten that that is BAD. She looks at her hand "My ring broke." she complains, voice a little weak, she looks upset now, like she might start crying right there on Picon.

TEMPLE: Sam glances over Mahasti to Carmine and wonders, somewhat idly, "Doesn't powdered aluminum burn really hot and really bright? I vote that you marines start carrying little containers of it and shaking it onto the remains of the canners and making merry torches of them. Just," she moves one shoulder in a shrug, "for emphasis." She helps ease Mahasti back down, though they're just inside the doors at this point. "We'll get you another one. After all, while we're here in sunny Picon we'll stop at a store, pick up some provisions, I could use a few more bottles of hand sanitizer."

The PJ scuttles through the open hatch, into the Raptor, and leaves Reed their to hold the door so to speak. Kalum moves right to the crew. He looks the pair over quickly, and sees they aren't likely to snap a neck getting out of the bird. "Alright. Time to get out of here, Sirs." The Petty Officer then moves to help them exit the Raptor, and give them a hand over to the now SAR Bird sitting nearby.

One of the hardest things to do is to stay put and wait, while one's friends are in danger. But as their squadron commander, Bennett of all people should know better than to leave her seat. And so she remains where she is, gloved hand resting on the flight yoke with a calm that belies the nervous tension under the surface. Blue eyes are riveted on her windscreen, and the still-smoking raptor outside it.

TEMPLE: Mahasti's weight goes more on Carmine than Sam. Her expression gives away that her ring can't just be replaced. Once she's sat down she rests her hands on her head, to rest it without going to sleep. Normally Mahasti would have some commentary for Mallas, but she sort of tilts at him, taking her flask again to hold to near her eye on the right side of her face. Not too far from where she was shot, but not on it, likely where she thinks she can baby the pain.

GROUND: Visibly relieved, Maia looks with concern at Zhen, "We'll get outta here. I frakkin' can't believe I crashed a Raptor. I'm so sorry, Rainbow." Giving her ECO a look of regret. When the PJ enters, she gives him a crooked but weary smile. "Get her outta here, she's hurt."

Looking at Sam, Carmine Grunts. "Aluminum Oxide. Mix it with Ferrous Oxide and you get Thermite. Of which I have a little bit in my kit for Fire starter." Looking at Mahasti, he speaks quietly. "We'll get the ring fixed Doc. No worries." Fishing in his vest pockets, he comes out with one of those Tinfoil looking Thermal survival blankets. unwrapping it, he unfolds it until it's gone from being the size of a napkin to being big enough to wrap around Mahasti's shoulders. Doing so, he looks aorund to help with more first aid.

The downed pilots are retrieved, and loaded onto the Raptor. Bennett returns swiftly to pick up Mahasti, and several of the civillians. Within a half an hour or less, the Raptor is streaking back towards Crandall stuffed to the gills with patients and pilots being watched over by PO Kallum. As soon as they are within radio range of Crandall, a Raptor is called for and sent back to get the remaining men off the ground. Mahasti is stabilized further at Crandall, and is on the next bird back to the Orion. The Marines, Samtara, and Kalum follow soon after.

"Ahh, excellent, i strongly approve of this Thermite stuff," Sam remarks, nodding quite solemnly at Carmine even as she helps tuck the blanket around Mahasti's shoulders. She then fixes a long look at Carmine, "You're wounded too. If there's room you need to go back with the Raptor."

Looking at the Doc, Carmine shakes his head. "I don't leave until the rest of Dog leaves Doc. Sorry, it's just a scratch and a bit of bruising. Trauma plates did their job incredibly well."
