COLONIAL FLEET MEMORANDUM

RE: QRF Rescue on Aerilon

INCIDENT SUMMARY

We responded to an emergency call regarding a QRF in trouble. The unit was presumed lost two nights past, but radio contact was re-established and two survivors in a firefight with Centurions. Our team was dropped into the nearby LZ and I was given command. I ordered a portion of the team to remain behind and hold the LZ while the rest of us moved forward.

At the edge of the tree line, we found four dead members of the QRF. Three male, one female. The two surviving members were ahead of the tree line with MGs, attempting to hold off the advancing Centurions. We took up positions in the trees and provided support. When they did not respond to radio calls to fall back, I called forward three of those covering the extraction point to start taking the KIA to the LZ.

While movement of the KIA began, SGT Knox called in the Raptors. This was done without my go-ahead. The landing Raptors all made it under heavy fire, but the Raptor providing overwatch was downed in the trees and all aboard KIA as far as we could ascertain. SGT Kilgannon began calling orders, in conflict with my own, and seemed set on ignoring the CoC. A separate report has been filed on both Kilgannon and Knox.

With the Raptors landing, it was decided to stage a retreat. Myself, PFC Mallas, SGT Flynn, and Kilgannon provided cover while the others retreated with the wounded and KIA. Once they were clear, I and Flynn went in under fire to pull out the surviving members of the QRF. Despite heavy fire and injuries, there were no further casualties during the extract itself.

The male survivor, SSGT Peter Williams, did not survive due to his injuries. The female, noted as a Nine model skinjob, did not have any tags on her person. She did have a love-letter written in a male hand signed 'Sam.' None of the KIA members bore this name on their tags.
