Robin Gloria
Map Room - Deck 2 - Battlestar Orion
Dominating the room is the large bottom-lit map table in the very center. Ten feet across and eight feet the other way, the table can gather a large number of people around it while still accommodating enlisted and support personnel in the small riser seating behind the table. The risers are done in single-piece desk sections that run the width of the seating area and have small reporting displays built into them along with communications ports for headphones. At the head of the room are two very large LED displays that can have almost anything put on them, including projections of what is on the map table. A single computer at the support seating controls this and in the rear of the room is a large, locked case that holds maps and table models.

Sometimes there's no sense in sticking to the CAG's office. When planning major offensives and going over sensitive star charts that one has to share? That's when it's time to head to the Map Room. Spread out over the map table, Robin has, well, some maps that she's looking at, bent over a notepad sitting on top of one. She's scribbling some notes and drawing some diagrams as if feeling out possibilities. After finishing, she stretches her arms out, in her slightly rumpled looking blues. She lifts her fingers to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear which has escaped its tie, then she begins to roll the map up, allowing the notepad to just get shifted along till presumably it ends up on the map table in the maps place.

Gloria is not an unfamiliar face in the map room, especially when she's hunting for the not-all-that-allusive Major Gray. Having come fresh from a shift in CIC she's in her greens, but it's not the TACCO she's after, but the CAG. Having received good intel on where the colonel can be found she ducks through the hatch and quickly sights her target and heads over, figuring that this looks as opportune time as any. "Sir," she greets simply as she comes to a stop in front of the pilot, "I'm sorry if this is a bad time, but I was wondering if I could have a quick word?"

Robin slides the rolled map into a tube and then closes the cap, using the rugged latch on the side to secure it as she turns to see who entered the room. The pen that was on her notepad had gotten some momentum from the angle the notepad'd been lifted and rolled its way down the table to a rest. "Yes. Now is as good a time as any? What is this about?" which is as good of an invitation as any.

Opts for the traditional approach and starts with an introduction given the CAG is still fairly new to the ship. "PO Oates sir, Countermeasures. Yes, she's been on shift in CIC during the recent manoeuvres, but Robin was focusing on the wing at the time. "I just wanted to enquire if you'd be opening up recruitment to fill spaces in the wing sir. I've experience of countermeasures at a capital ship level, am well versed in DRADIS operation, and Major Gray has said he authorise a transfer across if you're willing." It's not quite as elegant a pitch as she'd been aiming for, but there is an edge of nerves to her that likely apparent.

The map tube is planted front and center, close enough for Robin to rest her hands on, tapping her fingers on the side with two tiny waves from pinky to forefinger. "Yes, I remember seeing you in CIC." Truth be told, she probably wouldn't remember if Gloria hadn't been the one manning the nukes given how new the CAG is to the ship. "Hmm." The Virgon pilot considers for a moment, one of those moments that is probably very casual for her, but nail-biting for anyone looking for answers. Her brow furrows softly. "I don't think I have to go over the seriousness of that decision with you." Given Gloria witnessed firsthand the carnage that Blue Axe has wrought down upon the Wing. She was covering incoming waves of Raiders for them with Orion's nukes. Robin licks her chapped lips. "Do you have a frame you'd like to train on in mind?" Is that a yes? Is it? It's unclear.

"I'm aware," Gloria replies solemnly, "one of my other tasks in CIC is comms contact with the rest of the fleet. When your pilots call in to actual it's usually me they speak to first." Assuming she's on shift of course. "I've been on the comm during most of the major fleet actions of this war." So every time Orion has jumped into colonial space, as well as over Twin Rocks. The frown isn't matched, although there is perhaps a flash of surprise on her features at the question asked. Did she not say? Frak. "ECO sir, I have no flight experience, I have no idea if I could pilot or not, but I know I can run the equivalent systems to a backseaters board on a battlestar."

Robin dips her head in a slight nod. "Indeed. I suspected, but I can't read minds, nor would I want to." The Colonel drums her fingers again on the side of the tube. "I have one question for you. How do you think your current CO would rate your performance? Happy? Ecstatic? Needs improvement?"

Gloria considers that for a moment, then thinks back to her last evaluation. "Hardworking," she starts, then a moment later, "diligent, detail focused." Elias certainly has never complained about nay of her reports on the various projects he's assigned, but she's not sure if 'Major Gray doesn't dismiss my conclusions out of hand' is quite snappy enough given the examples the CAG suggested.

"Hmm." The sound isn't exactly resounding satisfaction, but Robin doesn't reveal why. Instead she straightens up a touch, drawing in a deep breath. "Alright. I'll approve your transfer. But, you need to get to know yourself better Oates. I expect you know your natural weaknesses as well as your strengths…all in due time. Everyone has them, myself included." Her expression grows a touch softer as she says, "Consider yourself approved for transfer into the Wing as an ECO with the Gentlemen Ghosts. I want all of your previous business wrapped up and transfer papers pushed through." Of course she'll have to give it her official signature. "Then I want you to report to Major St. Claire to get certified as soon as possible so she can identify any remaining gaps if there are any." The way she says it doesn't sound like any kind of personal assessment of Gloria, but more like the standard thing she'd say to anyone with prior experience. It comes out as if old hat. "Please followup with me on an ETA for your transfer if it starts to drag out."

Gloria knows exactly what her natural weakness is, seeing as it stumped her last attempt to gain flight status at the age of 18. Still, she's been working on it, so there's no need to spill to the CAG just yet. Bennett yes, at least one other pilot already knows, but fingers crossed it won't be a problem this time. Having expected some form of aptitude test before agreement she's caught a little on the hop by the speed of the acceptance, but covers it by nodding sharply, "Aye Sir. I've no major projects on the go at the moment, and I've already spoken to Major Gray, so I should be able to get the paperwork to you in the next day or so." Also known as 'just as soon as she can track down Elias when he has a free moment to get his signature on it too. "Thank you," she adds quickly, then, with no official business with the CAG, she takes the closing remarks as a dismissal, comes briefly to attention, then turns to leave.
