INCIDENT SUMMARY
At 1500 hours Piraeus Local time, Raptor-653R departed Pulse High to recon an empty section of space as part of the stellar cartography of unknown Cylon Space. Due to a malfunction of the jump systems, our projected jump was interrupted and we strayed approximately forty-five miles off-course, according to Lt. Ygraine 'Milkshake' Vashti. We momentarily lost control of the Raptor, but with the assistance of Lt. Skyler Almadea, the ship was righted. The coordinates were correctly input and traveled-to, but we were dropped into an unknown nebula and not where we had been briefed we would be going.
Once corrected, we discovered that a Cylon fleet of at least six basestars and between twenty and thirty Raider squadrons were laying in ambush of our original jump position. This was verified when the Colonial Corvettes Pennibaker (CC-1319) and Saloo (CC-1331) from the Linten Recon Group arrived and were immediately attacked and disabled by the Cylon fleet.
Realizing that they were in position to be captured, both Pennibaker and Saloo turned their weapons on each other. Raptor-653R counted at least a dozen nuclear detonations in order to deny the Cylons of the assets of either Corvette. Instead of returning to Pulse High, after conferring with Lt. Almadea, I ordered Lt. Vashti to return us to Orion. Lt. Almadea will be able to provide more to this report as to the meaning of this path of return.
