Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.
AWD #331

Having managed to cause about as much trouble as he can concerning Dio's raider project Toby is now back to his usual duties, which, in this instant, appears to him behind flat on his back underneith a raptor. Such is the life of a deckhand. The raider itself though is at the far end of the bay, in a section separated from the rest by a tarp hung from convenient points. If that wasn't enough to be odd, there's also an MP or two in the vacinity. Other than that, the hanger seems to be functioning as usual.

Dio steps onto deck as normal- looking around for Toby- he's heard his fellow deckie is looking for him. He steps up to a raptor, giving Toby a touch with his boot. "You were looking for me, Toby?" he says, looking over towards that Raider. He's been busy with all sorts of projects- the Raider project put on a slight hold.

«Let me get this gimble back in place,» Toby answers back, not needing to look to see who it is thats speaking to him. Somewhere between thirty seconds and a minute later and he's back on his feet and leading Dio towards the sectioned off area. The MPs are entirely ignored and he starts to brief the PO. «You know I said you should do it cos you know mechanical shit? Well, turns out the frakking thing is only part machine, but it's autonimus, no fraking pilot at all.»

«What? No pilot- what its got like.. just a toaster brain inside or something?» Dio asks, eyebrows raised as he follows behind Toby towards the Raider in question. «I haven't gotten a chance to get back here to this thing- flyboys keep breaking shit.» he grumbles as he shakes his head- «So, what's been freaking you out about it? I mean, shit, toasters work on their own.»

«Yes, and no,» Toby replies, to the comment about a toaster brain. Moving to the side of the raider the prises off a loose panel and then steps back so Dio can see, and smell, for himself. What's revealed beneath is a distinctly organic membrane, and then, below that, what appears to be a nervious system, complete with brain matter and blood circulation. «Looks like the 'heart' if you want to call it that, is mechanical, but that's not hydrolic fuel it's pumping. I got one of the Docs to come down and take a look and she reckons it was alive in and of itself. Her lot, and engineering, want to be on hand when you take it apart.»

Dio stares at that now open panel- eyes wide. He's actually speechless for a few minutes, before it all comes rushing back. «Aries' blood-soaked dick!» he exclaims, «What the actual fark is…» He shakes his head, «Don't let this get out. Not far.» he states, «I don't want people coming down here to try and get a look at this shit. Even with the MPs- you and I know MPs can be bribed. Well. I know it.» he says, surprisingly serious. «So, did the Doc say its dead now?»

Toby has had enough to time to at least start to come to terms with the horror that is infront of them, so gives Dio all the time he needs. Once conversation is rejoined though he nods once. «Intel know, the new Chief Stoker does, and a Lieutenant from Medical who was going to tell the CMO. Since we got MPs I suspect someone in marnes command does too, but one of the intel brass sorted that.» At the question about it's current status he nods emphatically, «oh trust me, if this fraker had still been alive when I opened it up things would have gone very differently in the immediate aftermath. It's very dead.»

«Fark me, Toby. This is.. This is farking disgusting. I mean, shit… » Dio just stares again, «Farking hades. This is just.. fark.» Again, Dio is more or less speechless. «I'll get together with Medical and Engineering and see who they want nearby when I start taking this thing apart properly. I mean, shit.. do I need to get this thing contained somehow? You think it might be dangerous?»

«Chief Stoker goes by Captain Tremaine, and the Doc who came to take a lookw as Lieutenant Cora, they should be handling theirt own teams but thats who you need to talk to.» Toby notes, deliberately sidestepping the question about just what it is they've got lying in front of them as he'd actually like to be able to sleep at night. «No one seemed to think it needed containment, although if it starts to rot then it'll stink the place out. Maybe get it transfered downworld somewhere? There's no where else onboard big enough for it.»

«Alright.» Dio replies, reaching to put that panel back in place. «Fark me..» he says, «After I've taken everything out of this thing, I suggest we set this thing on fire. Just to make sure it stays dead.» he says, with a shake of his head. He takes a slow breath, nose twisting. «I'll get in touch with the others and get it so we have proper containment and all that bullshit. This is just. IT feels like a crime to make something like this. »

«No arguements there,» Toby replies as Dio metniosn fire, «I know medical want samples, but they can't want the whole thing surely?» He shakes his head slowly, nope, the thing is still just as disgusting now as when he first cracked open the hull.» Takign a step back towards the tarp he offers Dio a faintly apologetic look for dragging him into the whole mess then suggests, «lets get this shift over then see about some beers. I fraking need one.»

«You and me both.» Dio replies to Toby with a nod of his head, «I look forward to working on regular ships- and not this monster.» he says, shaking his head as he move off with some relief.
