Luc Iphigenia Maia
Chapel
The chapel is one of the few quiet places to be found on a battlestar. Even rarer still, it's one of the few places that doesn't look like it's part of a battlestar. Heavy blue curtains have been hung from the walls, obscuring the bulkheads. The lights are kept low, adding a certain mystery and gravitas to the space. The central altar is made of a pale grey wood, as are the several rows of pews which extend from it. Laid against the far right wall is a long, low table with several rows of simple white votive candles to be used as vigil lights. Centered among them is a brass plate for burnt offerings from supplicants. Several cushions rest on the floor before the table, where the faithful may kneel to offer their prayers to the Lords and Ladies of Kobol. On the left wall are several compartments which have been sectioned off for private use.
AWD #80

Iphigenia is just returning from her small admin office with the proper paraphranalia for the divorce ceremony - mainly two peacock feathers, a presentation copy of the Sacred Scrolls, and some documents in a slim black portfolio. She sets them up near Hera's altar and waits patiently for her appointment to arrive. The bandages on the backs of her palms and wrists are lighter today, save for the one protecting the weal that required stitches.

Just meeting outside the chapel, Maia and Luc had gotten a few final words in before they had entered. They were ready this time, for all intents and purposes. Taking a deep breath, the former walks over to where the Chaplain is with the feathers and everything. This time her step is less hesitant. Glancing back at Luc, she offers an encouraging smile before finally closing the remainder of the distance. "Sir," she offers a salute and a smile.

Following along Luc just looks back and forth between them. Being quite silent until they are standing in front of her. Following suit as he salutes, "Sir." Clasping his hands behind his back. "So. Let's do this then."

"As you were." It's not actually necessary to ever salute a chaplain, but if they're going to do it, Gen will give them the formal reply. It takes a few minutes, but soon they are standing in front of Hera's altar, the criss-crossed peacock feathers resting at Hera's feet and the Sacred Scrolls held out open before the couple by Iphigenia. She invokes the Lords of Kobol, calling upon Hera in specific and then comes the question asked to each: "Have you committed to this course of action with full understanding and agreement in good faith between you, under the eyes of Hera?"

It crosses Maia's mind that this wasn't unlike the wedding ceremony of Ceres and Augustus they had attended before. At the question, she turns to look at Luc then back to the Chaplain. "I have, yes."

"Yes." Comes Luc's answer. As for the saluting, he is just trying to be as formal and neutral to it all as good that he can. Hearing Maia's answer as well. As Maia looks to him he glances to her in return before looking to the chaplain with another nod.

"Very well." The Scrolls are set aside, and the binder is picked up and open. Inside is a temple document, four copies, oversigned by Iphigenia. "Please sign all of them. One is for each of you, one is for the temple records, and the fourth will be filed at the JAG's office. Once they're signed I will conclude the ceremony.

Maia reaches to sign them, Maia Kane on each of the four copies, stepping back just a bit so that Luc can get in and sign his own name on the documents, remaining silent during it.

Luc nods and let Maia choose what to sign and he will take the other two and just switch with her. "Sounds good. Good that it is just four pages of signing though." Grinning a bit before he goes about it. Finishing and then just waits. Looking over his own signature, 'Gabriel Raynor'. After it comes a confirming nod before looking to the chaplain.

The feathers are raised, criss-crossed over their heads. "Hera, I call upon you to look upon these two now parted, and give your blessing in this endeavor as they part ways in good faith." She continues on in similar theme until finally she slowly pulls apart the two peacock feather, releasing the X. "I name this marriage between dissolved, in the name of Hera and all of the Lords of Kobol. So say we all."

And just like that, five years is whisked away as if it never were and Maia quietly repeats the words, "So say we all." Looking between the Chaplain and her now former husband, her expression a careful balance between neutral and polite.

Luc listens in silence and watches, though with his head lowered in respect. At the final words he does nod, "So say we all." Taking a deep breath. "I am still up for zorbing at any day you want. If we can find one of those balls." He offers to Maia with a grin. Still friends after all. Then looking to the chaplain. "Thank you." His expression goes back to a more neutral one. Thinking over the time as well perhaps.

"You're both very welcome." Iphigenia says with a smile that is more serene and solid than happy. "You're welcome to remain or depart as it suits you, and the JAG office paperwork will be filed through the temple. You each have your copies." And so they do.

Maia looks at her copy sporting both of their names that represents the end of their marriage. Now maybe they could do that. Just concentrate on being friends. "Zorbing. It's a deal, Gabe. If we can find one of those balls. Bet is though next time you'll be the one learning the belly dancing and I get the break dancing." There is a teasing light in her eyes as she folds the paper and holds it in her hand. "Thank you, Sir." To the Chaplain, then to Luc. "I've got to go do a few things, thanks, you know, for uh.. everything." Her smile lingers just a bit longer before she turns to head out.

Luc looks at his own copy and nods as he listens to Iphi. Starting to chuckle at Maia's words. "Deal. You know I can do one mean belly dance." He teases her in return and folds his own paper. Smiling in return to her before nodding. "See you around, Cara." Old habits die hard though. Then his eyes shifts to Iphigenia. "And thank you as well. Anything you need help with?"

Iphigenia's brows lift in surprise. "Such as?" she asks with a mirthful smile.

Luc grins and shrugs. "Not sure. Was just checking. Anything really. Unless it involves beating someone up. Don't think command would agree to that." He offers with a small smile covering his lips.

Iphigenia's head tilts to the side. "Why would anyone need beating up?" she asks, blinking in confusion.

Luc chuckles and shakes his head. "I just meant that I could help with anything but that. Just clarification." He offers with a smile and shrugs a bit. "Perhaps untasty. Sorry, chaplain." He offers and keeps his eyes on her with a brow raised.

"Of course." Let's just pretend he didn't suggest that she might try to direct him to be her personal thug. "Thank you, Lieutenant. I hope your day goes well." Not a formal 'you're dismissed', but close enough.

Luc grins at her. "Though as I said. IF you need anything do ask. Be it carrying things to the chapel or whatever." He offers to her before bowing and taking his leave. "Have a pleasant day." He offers as he walks away, with a wave as he has his back to her.
