Killhouse - Piraeus
The Killhouse is a training facility located adjacent to the firing range that only allows the use of specific paint, rubber, or frangible rounds. The four exterior walls of the tall single-story structure are made from cinderblock and concrete, but the interior is a combination of sand-filled wallboard mounted on rollers with sandbags to hold them in place. The interior is entirely customizable for whatever the instructors or Marines need. Overhead is a series of catwalks for instructors and others to observe and critique what is happening down below.
Fri Jan 13 2006

It's still daylight when the marines from the 3/8th get to the Killhouse down on P, not that that makes much difference given the place has a comprehensive lighting rig, but it's still nice to brief in day light and fresh air. Given the brief today is the S3 himself, dekced out as he so often is in his greens, with the white bands round his helmet and arm that signify him as an instructor rather than active participant.

Once everyone is assembled he tuckes his clipboard under his arm and addresses the marones infront of him. "Good news," he starts, "you're having a break from your water based training for a few hours. Reports have come in of a pair of downed viper pilots behing held in a cylong safehouse in the arse end of nowhere on Picon. You are the rescue team. Insertion is at dusk, and there is a more than slight chance of active humanforms at the site. Seargent Stone, you're in charge of the op, tool your team up as you feel fit, then report back to me when you're happy."

Lleufer has arrived and is wearing his combat ground kit. The MP Sergeant is healed up well enough from his last mission to yet again return to trainng. Ynyr certainly hasn't been enjoying the water based training as much as some but he has been working on becoming a stronger swimmer and increaning the period of time he can hold is breath. The training is also good to learn to relax and not panic when you get trapped under the water and have to work through problems like knots in your airlines, broken airlines, ripped off face masks and mouth pieces, sneaking in on rubber rafts, tipping them over and jumping back in and all that other stuff that Special Forces people eat up every day for lunch. It's certainly new to Lleufer Ynyr. So, he's tired and sore but pays attention as instructions and orders are being given out.

Stone does stand and listen with arms behind his back. Once finished he does nod. "Roger that, sir." He offers before turning to the others in the group. All of them more than likely in the same kind of outfit at the moment. "We will need to be able to move quietly. If we have anyone that can keep our back covered from a long range would be smart. Else, we go in quiet. Bring small range explosives in case we need either a distraction or create an escape route." He suggests and will move with the others to try and see what all are comfortable with and to be able to make the best use of their skills, after having given his suggestions. Eyes as always moving and studying the others.

With a nod, Kapali pulls the requisite mix of explosives to create either scenario in a fashion that would get the job done. Adding the mix of demo supplies to her gear, the marine corporal works out the weight balance, adjusting this strap or that angle until everything is precisely where she wants it to be, no surprises and no wiggle room. Once everything is sorted she returns to her mark, gives a nod to Stone and Leu. "I pulled a mix of demo gear, staff; explosives, frags and flash bangs," listing the mix as she dusts her helmet off with one hand and secures it after a moment of working with the chin strap. "Quiet, loud or stunning, check."

<FS3> Lleufer rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Kapali rolls Alertness: Good Success.
<FS3> Stone rolls Alertness: Good Success.

As the marines kit up and reassemble Amos keeps quite, letting them sort themselves out and prepare. Once it looks like they're ready though he gestures towards the kill house door and wishes them luck. Once through the door the interior is moderately well lit, it's not simulating full day light, but nor is it really dark enough to cause any issues. Ahead, almost immediately ahead, is a locked door.

Once all of them are ready he will nod to Amos. "Ready." He says and then he's leading the others as they are heading inside. Moving slowly and being at the ready as soon as they enter. Securing the left side, near the entrance. Allowing the next person cover the right side. Once everything seems fine he will slowly gesture for them to advance.
Stone has partially disconnected.

Kapalit gets a look at 'stunning' and Lleu can't help but grin. The MP rifleman doesn't have anything fancy with him, but he has his rifle, AP ammo for it, a pair of frags, smokes for calling in a Raptor if the needed it on the op, and as they take a few minnutes and know more about what they need, Ynyr acquires wire cutters, and checks he has his tiny notpad and pencil on him, double checking with Stone to see if the Staff wants him to gear up with anything else. WHen they are ready, he gives Captain Amos a nod and moves to follow.

Ynyr goes in behind Stone, rifle in hand and held at the ready to cover but there is only a door up ahead. He goes right to Stone's left and against the wall there as they move forward and looks to Kapali to check the door. In case it's trapped with explosives?

<FS3> Kapali rolls Alertness: Great Success.
<FS3> Kapali rolls Repair: Good Success.

Waiting the half beat for Stone to clear Left and then Ynyr to clear right, Kapali moves forward at a brisk albeit cautious pace toward the door set on the inward wall. With her toolkit hooked to her belt, Kapali studies the door in silence, searching for the usual tell tales for easily spotted rigging (trip wires, laser sensors, wire filaments to indicate that the position is being observed, etc), she even tests the handle to make sure that the knob isn't rigged to a live wire to electrocute anyone attempting to pass this first hurdle. Finding nothing to suggest that this lock has been rigged, she settles in to check the lock over and swiftly determines a way to hack the lock itself after discarding the notion of exploding the lock as unexploding a lock is tougher to conceal than just hacking the lock and scrambling it so that it can't be re-locked behind them to foil their ex-fil. She goes to work on that hack, lifting one hand to signal all-clear, first, then 'pause' while she works the lock then another 'thumbs-up' once the lock is hacked and turns the knob, testing it, before turning back toward Stone for the go-ahead. This said, once she has the lock hacked, she is careful to stand to the side of the door, not in front of it, ready to drag the door open and step behind the door as a temporary shield just in case. Lets hear it for healthy paranoia.

With the door unlocked the marines are free to progress further into the building. Finding themselves in a corridor that stretches perhaps 20 to 30 metres there is no natural light, but the bulbs hanging at regular intervals fromt e ceiling provide more than adequate illumination. The first half of the corridor is wide enough for two to walk comfortably abrest but contains no doors, the second half maintains its width but features three doors before taking a ninty degree turn to the right.

With the next door opened Stone will step in. Allowing the three of them to move along the corridor. Gesturing for Lleufer to check around corner to see if it is safe. "Be ready to check the doors." He says to Kapali, while covering their rear. Waiting to hear the 'clear' from Lleufer.

Ynyr is not comfortable passing by those doors without them being checked first, but this is still good. THe others can watch the doors and cover his ass so he nods and says nothing, staying very quiet. With care he moves forward to ease along the right hand side wall and come up on that corner. Lleu is careful to listen first, keeping his rifle and his gear such that they won't show around the corner. When he's ready, he drops low to one knee and takes a careful look, aiming his rifle exactly where he's looking - and doing it as silently as he reasonably can.

<FS3> Lleufer rolls Stealth: Failure.
<FS3> Kapali rolls Alertness: Good Success.

Sealing the toolkit at her side again, Kapali moves cautiously to check the first of the doors, though she spends a moment eyeing the bulbs that hang at regular intervals and visually traces the wiring from one to the next until finding the junction point as visible from within the corridor. She moves to the first of the three doors, checking the handle first she finds it unlocked then rests one ear against the door for a moment of listening then sweeps into the room swiftly to clear it. Finding it empty she steps back, signals the all-clear and moves to the next, finding that next handle empty and again pausing in complete stillness to listen at the door again.

<FS3> Lleufer rolls Alertness: Good Success.

While Kapali might pause quietly at the do1or Sergeant Thunderfeet has made enough noise that the corpral from the 1/8th hiding within with his red headtorch knows the scenario is live and has his paint-lmg pointed squarely at the door. As such, he's able to let of a short burst as soon as he senses movement. The room itself is dark mind, but the aforementioned redright is a bit of a clue as to where he might be. Centurions, not strealth beasts.

At the sound of shooting, Stone moves towards the others. Seeing as it is secure behind them. "Open fire." He offers to Lleu, to support Kapali. He himself tries to sneak to be able to find a good spot to shoot. Trying to be a bit quieter than Thunderfeet.

<FS3> Stone rolls Stealth: Success.

When he gets a look down that corner and a listen, some of Lleu's gear scrapes against the wall and his boots have made a little noise. He grimaces but there obviously isn't anything around the corner and he motions all clear, but also follows up with the hand signal that he hears something that way. No sooner than he's done this than Kapali opens the door and shooting starts! Ynyr rips himself back from the corner and falls back at once to give her backup! Stone doesn't even need to give him that order to support the Corporal. But he stays back slightly to the side the door to use it as a choke point and give Kapali room for tossing the grenade she whips out.

The burst that zips through the open door as soon as she tugs on it lands a paintball on the back of her hand, exploding in a burst of viscous red paint that smears all over her fingerless gloves, wrist, up along her forearm even as she's jerking back a half step to clear the door. She toggles the setting on the rifle to secure it, letting the tactical sling hold the rifle, sharing a nod with Ynyr and a single glance aimed toward Stone before she nudges it aside. She draws, left handed, one of the mock-Frag rounds from her belt and lobs it into the room.

<COMBAT> Kapali has been KO'd!

Stone set up his aim. Frowning as he notices Kapali getting hit. Letting out a burst of his own rifle. "See to the corporal." He tells Lleufer, taking over the firing while the other two are busy.

Again, Lleufer is on it at once, letting Stone step up as he'd been aiming. Ynyr lowers his rifle and puts out a hand to try and haul Kapali back away from the door. The angle may or may not give him any cover and he can't help that, knowing he had heard something down that other hallway that is likely coming at them even now. As if this were a real life op screwup, Lleu grits his teeth and gets to ripping open Kapali's medical supplies in her kit to tend to her wounds to see what he can do for her to get her back into the fight. Else he's going to have to carry her ass out of here. That doesn't bode well for their mission.

"Drag tabs," Kapali mutters in a tone of self disgust, because being hauled out of the line of fire after getting smacked down by paint balls is exactly the way she expected this one to go and, with a brief grin, watches as Leu makes use of the first aid field kit she has with her. Hers, of course, is full of mock bandages that have been carefully spread out and inked on with sharpie to say things like 'Oh noe!' and 'owie', 'It's just a flesh wound!', 'Sad face!', and so on and so forth before being rolled back up again. The bottle of LF candy, tylenol, is replaced with breath mints, the splints have been painted neon colors that, of course, don't flouresce just in case.

<COMBAT> Cent3 attacks Lleufer with LMG Tripod - Moderate wound to Abdomen (Reduced by Armor).
<COMBAT> Stone attacks Cent1 with Rifle - Light wound to Chest (Reduced by Armor).
<COMBAT> Lleufer treats Kapali:
<COMBAT> Kapali passes.
<COMBAT> Cent2 attacks Stone with LMG Tripod - Moderate wound to Right Leg.
<COMBAT> Cent1 attacks Stone with LMG Tripod - Moderate wound to Head (Reduced by Armor).

As the rounds fly the marine from the 3//1st seems to be getting the better of the exchange, having managed to smack Stone in the head with a solidly aimed shot. Thereis no further noise from round the corner. For now.

Lleufer is very busy trying to work on Kapali /and/ hoping like hell he doesn't also get shot right away in the mission training. His jaw is set, knowing he's going to get his as chewed out for screwing up but right now he has got to focus on the damage he caused. There is a second of distraction when Kapali's med kit contains some fairly odd materials but then Lleu makes himself ignore the aberations and work as fast as he can. Once he's done, he taps her chest plate and grabs his rifle to get back into the fight! Still no talking. Ynyr is almost always quiet when there's shit to focus on, unless it's up to him to bark orders.

Sharing a silent nod with Ynyr once he's done treating her mock wounds, Kapali rolls to her feet with a brief shove-off against the wall and unhooks another frag from her belt. A single glance is spared into the room before she crouches and does a soft underhand toss of the grenade to low-ball it into the room so that it doesn't ricochet around.

<COMBAT> Cent1 has been KO'd!

With all three of the 3/8th now attacking, the poor marine in the room finally goes down under a hail of paint and turns off the red light on his helmet. There is nothing else of interst in the room, nor, as it turns out, the next room along, the last one before that turn in the corridor.

Once the centurion goes down he does glance over to check on the other two. "How are you? Ready to keep going?" He offers, just doing the usual routine even if this is a drill. Once both give the okay, he will move along. Moving as it seems to be clear up ahead. Heading until the come to that turn in the corridor. Gesturing for the others to set up. "Get ready, I'll check around the corner and try and get them to come back around." He says, allowing the two to be ready if there is anything. Trying to be sneaky to check if there is anyone there, while Lleu and Kapali can set up.

<FS3> Stone rolls Alertness: Good Success.

As soon as that first 'Centurion' is down, Ynyr turns and watches the hallway. The doors have been cleared so Lleu starts for the corner but lets Stone take the lead when he seems intent to do so. Lleu tries not to give him a funny look about keep going and says low, "Of course." Not using rank titles where the enemy might hear them. Stealth is obviously out the window now there has been shooting and grenades. "Need to move fast. I'm covering."

Kapali skims a look upward again at the walls of the training compound, breath drawn to voice a suggestion, or maybe just a question, but she shakes it off and moves on. She draws another grenade from her kit, since stealth is blow she falls back on what's working so far, prepared to explode another grenade at the next pair of centurions.

Stone nods, as he hear Ynyr's words. "Clear." Comes his words as he stick close to the corner as he moves around. Gesturing for Lleu to cross to the other side, and Kapali to follow behind him. Trying to move relatively fast, while staying low. To allow Kapali to shoot over him if needed.

Once round the corner the corridor continues much as before, only here there are are no doors, just a long stretch followed by another right turn.

Lleufer does as he's told to do and goes along the other wall opposite to Stone this time, on the left hand side. Which means he's not on the ideal side for looking around the corner up ahead that is along the right wall again. Ynyr hangs back a little, being cautious and -trying- to move quietly tyvm. Stone is in command of this one so Lleu leaves it up to him and keeps his rifle at the ready. A careful glance back to also watch their butts and check on Kapali.

Doubling as the explosive filling between the cookie ends, Kapali moves forward a few steps behind Stone and is prepared to lob her last frag grenade into the corridor at the first sign of trouble. The 'Clear' has her tightening her hold on the frag, just to keep from lobbing it out of pavlovian instinct more than anything else.

Stone does continue again, moving for the next corner. Moving in a similar fashion, but trying to be quiet as he approaches the corner. Trying to look around it in case of danger. Gesturing for Lleufer to set up and be ready to shoot. Another motion to Kapali to check their rear.

As Stone rounds the corner there's two flashes of red as more centurions power up and join the fight. There's little lighting in this corridor though, but a carefully eye might be able to pick up what appear to be the outline of two figures behind them.

No sooner than Stone tries a look than the red of the Centurion's eyes become obvious when Ynyr dares to try a glance. He grimaces and pops back, his voice realy low, "Those are our pilots I bet. Maybe we can lure the Cylons to come forward, away from them?" Else they have to be very careful with their shots! Stone's call to make as the seconds tick down! Lleu's ready either way, just needs the orders!

"Frags are out," Kapali voices quietly as she stows the last of the handful she'd carried and swings the rifle around again, eyes scanning left, right, up then back again. "That, or it's another bloody trap, Staff," she adds in that same low voice that is barely - just barely - loud enough to pick up on the team channel.

<COMBAT> Lleufer has been KO'd!
<COMBAT> Stone has been KO'd!

Stone starts shooting as they come along. Focusing on the enemy for now.

Things get hairy fast! The mock Centurions open fire on the Marines and Lleufer returns fire, waiting for Stone to decide what's best and start barking orders. Meanwhile he's shooting! But also he's being damned careful to aim a little high and not hit the figures that are behind, who might well be the two pilots. He's hit full on and is knocked down, or mimes being knocked silly from the sound paintball hit solidly to his armor. Boy, this op hasn't gone well from the get go.

Getting paint ball shot is no excuse for shouting the wrong thing in training and Kapali makes a mark on her mental tally of 'drinks owed' to buy a few rounds for Thunderfeet when this is all over. Seeing first Stone then Ynyr get smacked back has her giving a mild head shake before she presses forward another half step, still taking carefully aimed shots to avoid hitting the pilots they're trying to rescue.

#As the last of the 3/8th fall, the lights come back on to illuminate the room as brightly as if they were standing outside at noon. Up above, on the viewing gantry Amos makes a few final notes, confers with his assistants then ehads down to where the 1/8th 'cylons' are high-fiving each other jubilantly. "Alright everyone," he calls, "on your feet." There's a faint pause as he looks between his men and those he's borrowed before he lets out a long slow breath and notes, "de-brief at 1900. I want you all to come with ideas about what went wrong." He carefully doesn't look at his NCOs as he says that. "Dismissed."

Ynyr gets to his feet and stands at attention for the Captain. He listens and doesn't look too happy with how things went and says, "Sir, yes sir!" Llue shares a look with Kapali, draws a slow breath and heads on out with the rest of them.

Kapali rocks to her feet with Stone and Ynyr and comes to attention, "Sir, yes sir!" her words echoing Ynyr's in almost perfect unison. To bad her ability to shoot wasn't quite as good as her ability to shout.

Stone sighs and shakes his head quite disappointed, Then listening to Amos. "Sir, yes sir!" He calls out and stands tall still. Seeing as he was in charge it is his fault. In his mind at least. Getting ready to move out as well.
