Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.

Did you hear there's a new ChEng? Maybe someone said something. Or maybe not, and this comes as a surprise. Either way, the pale, redheaded woman has arrived on the flight deck in her bright orange coveralls, both standing out in the reflective stripes and blending in to the worker ants buzzing around in similar attire. Her pin says Captain, though, so that might make her stand out a bit more. She moves fairly easily across the space, with one impediment — a slight limp, though with a sway of her hips in a mindless graceful gesture it does seem to disguise the fact, somewhat. She doesn't seem embarrassed by the limp, even moving across such a big and busy space. She's calm, composed, and comfortable. Halena, this ChEng, pauses to speak to the first sailor she can without intruding. "Watch officer?" She asks in a quiet request for directions to her target.

Toby might be a survival systems tech by trade, but he's pips show he's but a mere Crewman, so for now he's on cleaning duties. Right now that means FOD bin duty, although it seems his fellows have been good this shift as his load seems light. As he's approached by an unknown officer he has a quick look round to see if there's anyone he can foist them off onto, but apparently not, so he pauses and listens. "You want the Deck Chief," he replies quickly, glancing over towards where said tech is usually to be found he frowns as there is no sign. "Not sure where she is right now though I'm afraid. Anything I can help you with?"

"I…yes, perhaps." CPT Tremaine says after a brief moment of pensiveness. She turns her hazel eyes up and down along the deck, curiously, for a few moments. "I was hoping someone might be able to give me a walkthrough of the deck and statuses. I've read the reports but, I'd prefer to have eyes-on to get a proper feel of things." She tilts her head slightly and looks back toward the crewman curiously.

"If you want a walkthrough then just make sure you stick to the marked walkways," Toby replies, possibly missing the point somewhat, but does helpfully point out the lines indicating said walkways, just in case. "Joined the Stokers?" he asks, guessing she's engineering by her coveralls, "come to see how it's done eh?" His tone is one of faint humour as he tests the new officer to see if they've got a stick up their arse or not. "Anyway, what statuses are you after? Birds, or our equipment?"

Does she have a stick up her butt? It's quite possible, because the only initial response he gets to his ribbing is a slight tilt of Halena's head. She regards him a bit further, her mouth not moving in one direction or the other. Might be a bit of a tense moment, but only a moment. "Chief Stoker," she explains, and though her continence gives little away but a slight rise of her brows, her tone is relaxed. Only a minor stick, this one. Halena folds her arms comfortably and takes a few slightly-hobbled steps, her red ponytail swaying with the gesture. Her eyes are sweeping the space. "Equipment. Anything that might have been recently damaged and repaired," she says, still facing away from him as she looks over the deck. At last she turns back to him, watching him over her shoulder. "Have you been stationed here long? Anything in particular that you've had trouble with or that's taken heavy damage in the last few months?"

"Few months," Toby replies as he watches her scan the area. He's not moving after her, but there's a definite element of 'keep an eye on the newbie' as he waits. "Main thing we end up repairing, other than the birds that is, is the deck. Some of them flyboys are better at landing than others lets put it that way." He shrugs faintly, "we're fairly self sufficient down here, although I suspect they'd be a riot if the coffee machine broke. Mostly what your lads and lasses might do would be the consoles for the Flight Control guys," he points over to a side room where techs are intently studying DRADIS screens, "beyond that I'm not sure I'm afraid."

Halena glances in the direction of the consoles, nodding slightly. "It certainly doesn't hurt to be aware. I'd prefer if we're all able to backfill as much as possible in a time of crisis," The redhead decides. She turns and walks back toward the Crewman. "May I ask where you came from before this?"

Toby takes advantage of Halena's focus on the flight control techs to do another quick scan around the deck of his own, in case the Deck Chief has put in an appearance, but apparently not so he turns back as he's addressed directly again. "Before here? It's no great secret I was on Picon." His accent however is really not native to Picon, he is in fact, quite obviously Tauran.

Halena nods a few times to indicate she understands. A few more steps brings her back into conversational distance with the man. "Resistance?" It's a simple question that doesn't require a long answer unless he wants to offer one. "Thank you for your assistance, then, Crewman. If I wouldn't be in the way I'll go ahead and take that look around now." After all, the man likely has to get back to work!

Toby eyes Halena for a moment, as if trying to determine if there's any ulterior motive for her question, but apparently finding none he just gives a quick, shallow nod, "not at ANVIL though." Then as she states her intention to move off he reiterates his first point, "just remember to stay on the mark paths, and I'll let the Chief know you were asking."

Halena turns her body toward the direction she intends to go — following along the marked path. "Yes thank you, I'm sure I'll be careful," the redhead responds. With that, she begins her oddly graceful limp along the marked path nearest, her head swivling slowly back and forth to take stock of everything around her.
