Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.
AWD #420

The Chief spends a lot more time out of her office than in it. It might be because offices on the ship are like locking oneself in a tin can. Since the heads of shed have taken on more responsibility, it's given her the little pockets of time she'd rather be spending with people shooting the shit than cleaning up that office. But as promised, she's out on the deck and hasn't been pulled away yet, currently taking a break on her favorite fixture of crates in the corner with a wide-mouthed waterbottle that's seen better days. The rest of the Deck is still buzzing with activity. Her schedule must have gotten knocked off by some early impromptu talk with someone or something.

Gloria has a list of people she's out hunting, it's not a long list, but everyone on it outranks her. Starting with the one that is at least not an officer she heads for the deck. Looking out of place somewhat in her greens while everyone else is in orange or yellow she clutches a set of files to her chest as she ducks through the hatch. Thankfully Alex isn't hard to spot and she makes her way over, "Chief."

Alex can't help but look at the big picture of things anymore. One of the curses of becoming Chief. Like watching the whole deck and fighting the urge to not be an asshole boss. She's had enough practice to keep that in check, but it means she spots Gloria rather easily as well. She's about to hop up when she notices Gloria is on her way over. "Hey. Come take a seat. Please." She scoots over more to give Gloria some breathing room if she takes a seat than needing to clear space for actual sitting. She reaches back to materialize that ever-present memopad and an errant pencil she's appropriated. The memopad is laid out on her thigh as she flips through to an empty page. "So what's up?" Not one to waste someone's time unless she finds it…necessary.

Gloria does not sit, the Chief might be comfortable doing so in the active environment of the hanger, but she is not. "Thanks, but not here for long, jsut a quick query for you regarding the cylon raider." Shuffling a folder to the top she opens it and offers across a picture of a data plug that is definitely not colonial standard. "We have some captured tech we'd like to access, but we don't have the right cabling. Could you check with your guys who worked on it if there were any systems in it that used that?"

There is a certain comfort in knowing and trusting the operations, the active and inactive zones in a hangar. Alex nods to Gloria, but keeps her eyes on the other woman as she listens to the request, not quite heads down yet in the pad. "Sure. Do you have anything that could give us a hint what we'd be looking for other than…hey, here's an interface?" The question is neutral, a straightforward way of cutting to the point on her end.

Gloria can only really shake her head at that. "It's a data cable, possibly something you might use to plug in an external device? We're guessing at the moment though. Ideally we can find a wire with the opposing connector on and splice it to something we can use ourselves, but obviously we need to find that wire first."

Probing her own deductions with the other woman, Alex asks, "Do you expect this to be something super-high baud? Relatively for the cylon tech? Trying to get a feel for if we're looking for something that is going to be a special snowflake or has gotten more application in their tech." It could expedite things a lot to know such indicators. "Do you have any images or could you draw something? The size might also help the hunt."

"We're hoping it's their standard data connection," Gloria replies, "but we really don't have enough of their technology to hand to know. I am going ask if we can show it to one of the humanforms onboard, but I haven't had a chance to talk with Major Grey about it yet." Grabbing a pen from her sleeve she draws a quick scale on the photo and passes it across, "keep it, I have other copies."

"Well, I know how tight these things can be," operative word /can/, even if Alex has experienced a surprising amount of transparency on the ship so far. "Thanks. That should help a lot," she says as she grabs the photo and then attaches it at the top of her pad on one of those round clips kids use for their flashcards. This one is smaller and hooked to the spiral of her pad. The unimportant parts of the photo aren't flush with the pad at all and dwarf it, but she flips the pad closed. "I'll check with my techs and let you know how the hunt is going." Since something may not jump out at them. "Hopefully it will be relatively standard."
