Skyler Toby
Hangar Bay - Deck 3 - Battlestar Orion
Each hangar deck is divided into five one-hundred yard sections, each divided from the others by massive blast doors that close vertically from the floor and overhead. Each hangar section houses all of the Vipers, Raptors, and Predators that the wing operates as well as the vital work areas to support and maintain these fighting platforms. Each bay is large enough to accommodate one of these frames and still get heavy work done, though the fore- and aft-most sections are dedicated to overhauls and major work to be done. The bays along the center section are located across from launch tubes and elevators in order to provide scramble and Alert-Five capabilities. The second-to-aft bay provides major elevator and transport access to the starboard bay as well as the major manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work, the hangar decks are major hubs of activity at all hours of the day and all but four hours overnight.
AWD #319

On the upside, she's off the crutches. On the downside, Skyler is still in the leg brace and on a cane. It means she's more obstacle than not in the Hangar. The woman, however, still has enough Air Wing to her to know to stay clear of certain areas and lanes. Mostly, she's keeping to the fringes. But in blues, with a clipboard in hand, and looking about- it's clear she's trying to locate someone.
Some deckie does finally wander over and the query goes out. She's looking for Shackleton. Which means someone's got to find him. It does give her a moment to sit on the edge of a crate and rest.

Toby reacts with just about the expected level of joy at the news that there's brass looking for him, but the specalist he's working with tells him he has to go see what they want so he ends up walking towards Skyler, cleaning his hands with a rag. "Lieutenant," he greets her cautiously, eyeing first her blues, then the clipboard, "you wanted a word?"

Once Toby approaches her and speaks up, Skyler pushes up to her feet. It does lend to leaning on the cane, but there's propriety. "Aye, I did." There's a rather refined Virgon accent, but the more lackadasical demeanor many pilots end up with. "We're having a Raptor crew bring in a Raider from the recent combat over Aerilon. Disabled, of course, hopefully mostly intact. Once it's here, you were a name that came up as potentially taking lead on studying it."

Toby listens, although by his expression he doesn't seem convinced at what Skyler is saying. Once she's done he stuffs the rag into a pocket of his coveralls, then crosses his arms over his chest. "Don't mean to be funny," he starts slowly, "but you sure you got the right name? I'd be very surprised if there's anything I could tell you about it. You want someone from avionics ideally, with one of the airframe guys to give it a once over. Don't know who told you to talk to me, but they're either sorely mistaken, or trying to make you look a fool."

"Might be because you're known to follow-through." If Skyler is perturbed, she doesn't show it. If anything, the woman comes across as 'mildly amused.' There's a shrug, board gathered against her chest as she regards the crewman. "It's not expected that you do this all on your own. The Air Wing has already been informed of it as a project. I don't know any names in avionics. If you've got someone you'd prefer to work with, give me the name and I'll have them assigned to it. We're all at a bit of a loss here, Crewman. Studying Cylon ships at this level is a bit new. We're wanting to improve our lock-on systems so the Vipers can do a better job of taking them out."

"Look, Lieutenant," Toby starts, speaking slightly slower to make sure what he says is clear. "If you want someone to take a look at it's life support, which is liekly doesn't have, or it's fire suppression which it might, then yeah, I can do that." He nods slowly once, then, as he continues, starts shaking his head, "what I don't know, is one end of the targetting system from the other. Electronics, don't know that either. Talk to Ventralis, or Alexios, but I shit you not I'm about the worst guy on deck for what you're asking. It'd be like asking a raw recruit jarhead to take a viper out without any training or prep." He keeps his arms firmly across his chest shakes his head once more. "Maybe ask one of the stokers, some of their electronics techs will likely give you something useful, but like I said, you're on a hiding to no where here."

There is a slight expression of annoyance that arises on the woman's features. "And you are incapable of talking to these individuals, yourself? I saw the report on the chlorine gas. I know very well that you are capable of taking point on a project. Neither of those names came up when this crossed my desk," or was more likely physically tossed at her by Elias, "but yours did. If you need Ventralis or Alexios' assistance on this, I will get their duty schedules changed. For all we know, it has both life support and fire suppression that could be used in this study." It's not like she can just stand up tall. Damned leg. "I know Deck and Air Wing have their issues," apparently she's just skating by onto a new topic. "Is there anyone in particular in the Viper or Raptor squads you'd feel comfortable having around and providing feedback from a munitions point of view?"

"Yes," Toby replies, sounding mildly annoyed too, "I wrote a short report on something that is very much in my area of expertese, so sure, that makes me an expert in highly specalised, technical fields I've never had any training or experience in before. Sounds like a fine recipe for complete success, my compliments to who ever dreamt this one up." he takes a moment to breath, since he;s fairly certain that this who thing isn't Skyler's fault and he has no current desire to shoot the messanger. "Try whoever in the wing has ordinace quals, fraked if I know who'd be any good, I suggest talking to the CAG, or squadron leaders, and while you're at it, seriously, talk to Ventralis or Alexios. If you'll excuse me though, I have a full shift's worth of work I -am- actually qualified to do to be getting on with."

Yeah, a JG coming down from where Intel haunts the corridors? It's largely ill luck of rank and 'minion' status than someone spearheading something. Oh, Skyler has her own projects. This isn't one of them other than the 'go and have people get this done.' The woman's dark eyes are a bit hooded, but she doesn't balk. Nearly dying more than once makes 'people' an easier thing to face. Not that she was ever bad with people. It's just easier. "I think the end of it all is that you've been identified as someone who can see things through. I'll talk to the two of them and the Wing, but the fact remains that your name came up as someone to at least oversee this. I know a grand total of jack and shit about most of this myself, but I'm the one upstairs tasked with keeping track of things. You're the unlocky soul on Deck who gets to do that. So I'll speak to them, but really only to point them your way." And she's shifting on her cane, adjusting her weight and readying to move. At least she doesn't say 'deal with it.' It's just implied.

"You send them to me, and I'm just going to tell them I haven't got a god damn clue and to do whatever the frak they want," Toby replies, apparently annoyed that someone he pegged as 'not entirely dumb' can't see that this whole thing is entirely moronic. "You want a project supervisor, get a PO to do it," perhaps even one of the two he just named, "but as I said, I have -actual- work to do, so good day Lieutenant, and if your new masters want to know how this went, send them too me. I'll happy tell them just how stupid an idea it was." Then, as she appears to be ready to move off, he just turns and walks back to his work.
