Beginning
Born on Picon into a large family of five children. Colt Jaeger Stone is the second oldest child, and son, of Oliver and Tamsin Stone. Having two brothers and two sisters. His mother being a psychiatrist who spent a lot of time researching such things. Stone used to be close to her when he was still young but as he started to grow up they drifted apart and he never really had the same thoughts of persuing that line of work. His oldest sister, and the third child, did. Following in their mothers footsteps to become a psychiatrist. With the difference of wanting to treat the military in particular. Perhaps because of Stone, for becoming a marine. While their father was a navy officer. Their father and Stone got along, even if the oldest was the favorite as he was following in their father's footsteps to be a navy officer.
As stated prior Stone is a Picon child and had a rather normal Picon upbringing. Enjoying it as well. Being a small child but ever curious. Following his brother around but was perhaps more active than his brother. Constantly enjoying to go swimming, running or find anything he could climb up on. Getting into disputes with his brother would happen rather frequently over minor things. Most often their father would agree with the eldest son, perhaps with reason. Even so the family had a tight bond and helping each other. Their family only continuing to increase in size with the youngest child, the last son, being thirteen years younger than the oldest, and ten years younger than Stone.
Teen Years
Ever since being a child Stone has always been observant. Some would say too observant for a child. Though it never did stop and he only became more alert and observant. Which happens to be a good quality for someone like him later on in life. Though as a child he at times got in trouble or under people's skin by being able to see the differences that some would miss. Be it a missing button or a tear in the pants. Despite people getting annoyed at it he did not seem to care, nor able to change it.
With his parents teachings he did become an honest person and a man of his word. Perhaps not odd for a boy that had a father that was in the navy. Though it also meant not seeing his father too often with him having to leave occasionally. With his brother soon going to be trying to become a navy officer as well that left Stone to look out for his mother and siblings. Even though he was only a fourteen year at this point in time. Continuing to help with work as well when needed. Though through it all Stone know what he wished to do, even if his father had wishes for him to become a navy officer as well. Stone wished to enlist for the marine. Perhaps parts for wanting to escape the shadow of his brother. Even the part about not wishing to be an officer at all could more than likely be because of this or at least to wanting to get a name of his own instead of being known as officer Stone as the rest of them.
Around this time it is also a point in time when a boy starts his journey to become an adult. With the two most seen attributes of Stone's being his outspoken nature. Never afraid to speak his mind. The fact that he also needs to have the last words did fit in with making him even more onest and open with opinions, which at times got under peoples skin. Which he would come to learn after enlisting.
Enlisting
Even though the choice of not going to the actual fleet academy might have upset his father it did not creae too wide of a gap between them. Though his father did offer him a word of advice before he went to be enlisted, since Stone had spoken with his father and told what he wished to do. To rise in rank within the soldiers of the marine. Wanting to be out in actual field of war. His father told him: "A person is only trusted as much as his word is worth." Giving Stone a thinker perhaps. Though he did take this to heart as he became enlisted. Always trying to keep his word.
While at boot camp word did reach him about an explosion upon a ship. The same ship that held his father and brother. Getting the information and not sure what he could do other than mourn and honor them. Doing so by being more devoted to what he wished to do. Keeping his father's advice close to heart. To always keep his promises. It is very odd to see him breaking a promise. So has it been ever since.
Marine
After the basic training for the marines he continued on to show proof of his physical capabilities as he was a hard person to break down and his promise to make it made his will unfaltering. Able to work well in a team as well. All in all good at what he does. After all the initial training he shows that he is capable for a lot of things but his best attributes lies within his mind and knowledge base. Which some found surprising after seeing how tough he was. Though of course there were people tougher than him. Going on then to become a rifleman within the marines, though not fully stopping. His skills showing proof that he could be a man to be counted for having control over the armory.
One might think that such a position would be an easy task. To some part it might be but it also meant long hours of looking after the guns. Learning each and all as well. Starting off with small arms but there was a need to learn in Stone so he continued that on to try and learn and be able to see to the needs of all the different weapons. It goes without saying that this would take time.
Duty
As part of his work and training he was positioned at Eos on Picon. Seeing to the armory they had there for the first few years of his duty. Soon enough being sent off to serve elsewhere. That new spot would be aboard the assault landing ship, Collins Peak. Seeing to their weapons. The Collins Peak landing ship had patrols to some point but also were often sent out to deal with recon and similar. Having Special forces onboard. Though Stone would not be a part of those. Though there were of course also one platoon of soldiers would they be needed. Most of it Stone only needed his skills on repairing weapons but he did have to go in to be combat ready as well. The most notable time being on Tauron.
As a recon mission had proved successful in finding out about the enemy it seemed that they were not able to actually take care of it all. The platoon being send down as well. In an attempt to get rid of a base belonging to the Loyalist movement. The mission going rather well for a start. Able to go in and complete the mission Though on their way out there was an explosion. Creating a seperation between the squad Stone was in. His side of it getting shot at and those that didn't die got captured and brought back to another of their bases. One used as a prison, of sorts.
Return
Being taken prisoners only two of those from his squad survived during the imprisonment as the others already got shot dead or bleed out. Though perhaps luck being on Stone's side since soon enough there is a mission to shut down this prison camp. Which resulted in getting several prisoners out. Even though he had been held captive he did do whatever he could with making sure that everyone got out before he would be returning towards the extraction point, despite having a wound, after getting shot.
Upon returning Stone was given both the medal for having been a prisoner of war but also a medal for the marines. The Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal.
Orion
After his recovery Stone would go to continue his duty. Being the squad leader. Though with the time spent he soon got closer to reaching the rank of Gunnery sergeant. With that came an offer from those upon Orion. Perhaps with him having been persuing it as well as it seemed like a prime oppurtunity for him. Before they were to set off 18 months ago they had come to him with his new rank. Already having experience with some of the troop upon the assult landing ship Collins Peak, Which is counted within the Orion's group, he was asked to join and that he was to take lead of their Marine rifleman platoon. The Dog Platoon. Accepting and going to join them. It was a spot he did want so it is perhaps with some consideration to his past that after discussions he was approved to join. Some might think him a bit young for being a Gunnery sergeant perhaps but with his experience and knowledge he has been seen to be able to be a rather skilled person in handling others.
The coming 18 months consisted a lot of training and security and so on. Though with his previous skills in leading and knowledge for the weapons and having a bright mind it made him a prime leader for such a group. Having experience in battle situations as well as captive he did knew a bit about how to handle things and being able to be a good teacher for the men. As he had to deal more with the officers he also did have to learn a new way of thinking and what he had learned from his mother did come into play, trying to learn more about psychology. Learning more about people and also how to be the face and speaking for his men. Caring for them and always doing what he can to let them. Making sure that under his time he would learn all he could about his men. With new people about to come along he has started to focus on trying to get in good relations to those as well.
Despite his past and all he has been through it does not mean that he is someone who is only harsh. Having learned how to mix drinks from those civilians that knw how upon Orion. More interested in the making rather than the drinking, though he does still drink occasionally, when off duty. As is the same with cards, enjoying to shuffle and play with them. But perhaps not a true gambler or great with different games, only the handling of the cards.
