As with most of the populace of Tauron, Kane Remis was born into a poor but hard-working family. His father was only home once a month, as he worked off-world at one of the Tylium Refineries. The pay was good, the home life wasn't so much. Kane's mother tried to make it work as best she could, but in the end, she strayed, the family broke apart and there was no happy homelife for Kane. But it would set him on his course of action.

After graduating grade school, Kane joined the Kalvin Refinery Company, under his father's tutelage, in order to start to learn how to roughneck the rigs of the mining corps. Not really satisfied with the work, he decided to start attending community college courses in his time off, and by the time he was 22, had earned an associates degree in Metallurgy.

That earned him a place on the Piraeus mission aboard the Kalvin Orphus as one of the ore workers.

When the war started, Kane's abilities with the refinery and mining process of Tylium was considered more important than him being in the CMC. Though as with most of the workers, he went through basic training was held as a home guard as the first part of the war as the Erasmus Rigor as one of the crew working feverishly to bring the ship up to speed. He continued a monthly service contract with the Marines in order to train up in heavy weapons.

However, with recent numbers, more men and women were needed in the CMC. Kane's number came up and he decided to leave the tylium refinery life to fill in for recent losses aboard Orion and the Dog Platoon as a heavy weapons expert.
